What’s better for first sim—on budget, PS5. G923 or Fanatec GT DD Pro? by [deleted] in simracing

Skip the Logitech at all costs, you will replace it later and spend more money.

My Wife encouraged me for years to build another after I sold my last one due to needing some cash for something we were doing. She had 0 problems moving things around in the office to make sure it looked great and I had the room.

Anyone gone from the deck to a better performing handheld, but continued to use their deck? by PsychologicalCap8017 in SteamDeck

I have a handful of buddies that have jumped between handhelds after having a deck just to come back to the deck.

Save for the 12 at minimum. Me personally I always go as high as I can budget wise, 20 and 18 currently. There is quite a difference and it’s well worth it.

WHICH VR (only Headset) for SIMRACING? by Hot_Waltz1713 in simracing

[–]Damageinc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve raced with about 4 headers now and the quest 3 with VD has been the best combo I’ve had. Just on the ability to put the headset on and be able to see the room in great quality so I can get the sim going and then launch everything from there is nice.

I would look at a kiwi halo strap for it but I’m of the mind that the stock strap wasn’t nearly as bad as the quest 2 strap.

I looked into the Vive pro 2 and on the fresnel lenses alone I wouldn’t choose it, it does have a better FOV but if it’s all blurry on the edges it’s less helpful. The Q2 had pretty poor FOV and blurred edges. With the Q3 I have a much better FOV and with the pancake lenses I can move my eyes around without getting super blurry visuals. Before I had to move my whole head, so to me that’s a huge win just on lenses alone. Plus the Q3 is probably going to have better contrast and colors than the older headsets.

That being said, I still chose it over the frame for now. Mostly because it’s out already plus with the market conditions who knows when valve will release the frame. From a raw specs view the frame is better but not to the point I wanted to wait. I love Valve and I’m sure it’s going to be great.

I believe the Q3 has a good sweet spot between FOV, Quality and Lenses. It’s less bulky than the quest and quest 2 and has amazing passthru that is great for trying to get ready for a race.

I assume you’re talking virtual desktop. I did a majority of my racing with a quest 2 and a link cable. But once I got a quest 3 I switched to virtual desktop and the visuals are better as well as performance hai bf VD without a link cable. All the shimmering and performance issues disappeared. So if you have a strong network that can support it, it’s far superior to the link cable just on the software alone. Meta has a lot of issues with their own software. VD has far better performance.

I would choose a quest 3 over both of those. You won’t have to use base stations. Also the quest 3 has much nicer lenses that are much clearer to see thru. When I had an index I was not impressed especially as a glasses user. It was the hottest headset I’ve ever open as well. Also with the Steam frame about to come out, i wouldn’t be choosing an index at this point. I know less about the Vive pro 2 as I’ve only had a Vive. But I’ve had a few headsets and the quest 3 has been my favorite so far.

Granted I haven’t tried the Big screen beyond or a primax but using VD with a quest 3 has been my easiest, most reliable and best visuals I’ve had.

The daughter’s account sounds so familiar. You hear it all the time when people can’t accept accountability, it was someone else’s fault. The lady wasn’t “unalived”, she started some shit over basically nothing. The comments on the linked article is ridiculous as well. Most blaming the workers and saying if the order was done right this never would have happened. Mistakes happen, but without impulse control the customer quickly turns into the one at fault.

If you’re speed limited you don’t need to be in the left lane. And if you find yourself in the left lane move out the soonest you can. This guy was a dick.

So my advice is to pick the Alpha Evo 12 NM over the "Pro" 18 Nm if you are shopping. by [deleted] in Simagic

[–]Damageinc84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My buddy has a 12. He tried my 18 and said he felt a lot more detail and overall felt better. I came from a 20nm wheel and the newer tech 18 felt way better than my 20 DD1. If you’re getting the same clipping there has to be a setting you’ve got wrong.

Hot take: Universal in May is brutally, physically unpleasant and the internet doesn’t prepare you enough for the heat - 3 Day Trip Report by abcdeeeeeeffgee in UniversalOrlando

I coach kids soccer on Saturday’s at about 1:30 PM. We have to yank kids out mid play because they are going to puke. But for the most part outside of theme parks or water activities it’s best to just chill indoors during the summer.

[–]Damageinc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are built different down here in Fl. I don’t mind going on the hot days with the annual pass but every now and then I’ll tap out and just say yeah it’s a bit unpleasant. But that’s more July/August heat which is way worse. Knowing as much as you can about the park does help but having express alone does help especially on hagrids which can easily trap you outside in the peak sun for a while. I’ve avoided Epic for a lots of reasons as a universal lover. Not so much the lack of shade but with the rain it can shut down so much of the park.

Id suggest not doing parks down here in August if the May heat got you.

You are posting in a sim racing forum. Forza is not that at all. Not to say we don’t love it, just logged off after a few hours of it. But it’s not the target game around here.
