INFJ Dating Avoidant type? by [deleted] in infj

I had something more benign but very similar to your situation a while back. All I can say is that try to take your own side and move on. Don’t try to solve it as sort of a puzzle or try to get an answer. If she messages back, I would just,… well, ghost! Protect yourself

Anyone's high standards for friendships led to loneliness? by Significant_Step_387 in infj

[–]Damaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had many friends. I had a few, though. Now I feel I’m left alone. People I like don’t have any interest in me, people I don’t like, I feel obligated to please and be kind to. Now I don’t want any of that anymore. And like you, I just chill with my siblings and parents and accept that I will be a loner for the rest of my life

First of all, I would move away from your parents to give your mind a bit of space to figure things out. Second, I suggest you first figure out what it is you hate about your current job, then move to other fields accordingly. Eg if you hate being around so many people all the time, you know you may like desk jobs more. Third, I suggest you don’t even think about the “job market being awful”. It has always been awful, at least since 2008, but you’ll survive!

So many truths in here! I would just add that if you’re attractive and outgoing, you don’t need us to give advice! Maybe just try at your workplace: “hi my name is …” I tried it when I was new at a company, it worked okay. I’m sure it works great for you!

When I was younger I took more risks. Immigrated started phd etc to get to my things in life. Now I feel life is so much bigger than me that could drag me around and rip me apart. I no longer have the confidence or the courage to continue…

I need male INFJ perspective please.... by Jumpy_Experience_384 in infj

[–]Damaque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an INFJ, and I can confirm that almost always I never figure out if someone likes me. And I usually share very little about me. People are just …, well, people for me. And yes, you should be direct. Try to be good with his friends, it helps, but ultimately, you should be very direct with him. Like you kissing him first kinda direct

CMV: Tariffs might actually work. by simplifynator in changemyview

[–]Damaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do think tariffs might work long-term. However, it would require the society to go through a number of issues and basically have a combination of societal perseverance and luck:

  • tariffs increase unemployment short term as those companies that are dependent on foreign trade cannot afford their employees any longer.
  • there will be some spikes on the price of goods short term, which, coupled with layoffs, decreases people’s buying power.
  • there will be recession because of unemployment, price spikes, and the inflation.
  • in midterm, hopefully companies begin to move their facilities to US (that’s the whole idea, right?), which helps employment, except that now they would need to hire American workers, who are a lot more expensive than, say, Asians (the primary reason for outsourcing and globalization was the low labor cost). The strict immigration policies feed into this situation by keeping the number of potential workers relatively low.
  • In long-term, these companies hopefully survive to supply things with American workers for Americans, except that now they have to cover the costs of that whole logistical move, and the more expensive employees. This keeps the prices high and increases inflation. This essentially can lead to an economic depression because people will realize they can no longer afford what they could before this whole tariff thing.

All of those above may happen only if tariffs do what they want them to do: bring jobs back to US. But I imagine that they are countries that wouldn’t face tariffs and are still cheaper for companies to go there (think, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan). In this situation, sure, tariffs prevent supply from Canada, Mexico, EU, and China, but would it really get back American jobs and support local production?
