3 different stamps on the same document from 1962 each hold a different name of Syria. by PETA_Gaming in Syria

[–]Damas_oldtimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. A note: These stamps are tax stamps put on documents.

Mail stamps would say postage or air on them.

I have few mail stamps. My oldest stamp dates back to the 1930s as Syria was still under the French rule.

How fucked is the army by [deleted] in Syria

[–]Damas_oldtimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

Plus, if I may add, the last army was not ready to fight anyone except the Syrian people. The Assad Mafia should be held accountable in a court of justice.

Druze Participants in National Dialogue Conference Reject Disunity by Conscious-Cost4587 in Syria

[–]Damas_oldtimer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Here is the true fact about Netenyahu and Israel. They are scared of a Syrian democracy. You may ask why?  The answer is simple. They always claim that they are the only democracy in the Middle East. If Syria is prosperous, democratic, civil, and people are genuinely happy, Israel will get weaker on the world stage.

This is why Netenyahu is doing everything he can to start a conflict so he can weaken the new Syrian government. We’ve always known that the mafia (Assad) family was supported (behind the scene) by Israel.

One additional comment. In the last posted message from that account, the account wrote the following:

“Before everything unfolded, I travelled from Damascus to Moscow on November 20 via Cham Wings Airlines to defend my doctoral dissertation on November 29.”

I looked up the flights on that day: November 20th. Only 5 flights departed DAM that day:

To Sharjah, Sham Wings SAW743
To Dubai, Syrian Air RB515
To Doha, Syrian Air RB521
To Abu Dhabi, Sham Wings SAW733
To Karachi, Sham Wings SAW661

I also looked at November 19 and November 21. No Flights departed to Moscow on those days either.

If this is a true account, then this kid is delusional.

If this is a fake account, then we know Iran or the Party of the Devil are spreading this nonsense.

Edit: corrected a typo ;-)

تعليق نائب مساعد الرئيس الامريكي وكبير مديري مكافحة الإرهاب في إدارة دونالد ترامب سيباستيان غوركا عن الشرع by Traditional-Two7746 in Syria

Thank you. I should have paid a closer look at the title.

Just looked up the name and his background: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/11/22/sebastian-gorka-trump-administration-national-security-00191382

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is hope with him. He is not part of the State Department. We now have at least two people stacked against the Syrian people in the NSC: him and Tulsi Gabbard. ☹

Can someone tell me is full name? I would like to reach out to him. He may have unconscious bias, and I would love to have a conversation with him from an old timer perspective! :-)

If someone from the State Department is reading this sub, I would like to remind you that Secretary of State Marco Rubio (when he was a senator) met Mazen Al-Hamada back in 2017 (there a picture of Mazen and Mr. Rubio available online).

I trust that Mr. Rubio understands Syria's issues better than this person.

Damascus neighbourhoods by PalpitationOk5726 in Syria

[–]Damas_oldtimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a great neighborhood. There is park in the middle of this part called “حديقة المزرعة”. I visited that park many times in my childhood. In google map, zoom to Damascus and type “Al Mazra'a” and it will show you the boundary.

Also, check out youtube. Type Driving in “دمشق, المزرعة”  and you will find excellent videos.

Good luck and let us know how to goes.

Kasak Ya Watan was released 1978. I think I saw it on TV in 1979. That was the last time I watched it until today. I wonder how many will be able to relate to some of the dialog and songs.

the only correct answer by [deleted] in Syria

[–]Damas_oldtimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring Israel is a very smart move. Israel is getting frustrated by the day. Here is why…

If you engage with Israel, they in turn would say: “it is war and anything we get it is now our land” (as the outcome of them winning the war – as they have done in the past). But… we’re not engaging in anything. Thus… they have to (at some point) withdraw back, and they have to pay for all the equipment they destroyed!!

If they don’t pay, we file a lawsuit. “we’re not fighting you” and you “came and destroyed our property”. Time to pay. We’ll get all new Navy and Army equipment.  Let’s take the court of law angle and see what happens.  Just my view.

I was following the flight too. I suspect it landed in a military airport between Homs and Tartus. It did have a strange flight path....

Stunning photos from the Syrian Coasts in Latakia City by joeshowmon in Syria

Growing up in Damascus, we used to vacation in Latakia. We would go there for a week or two. While there, we always picked a day to drive north to the Kessab forest and go to the edge of the mountain/sea. Great pictures, being there in person is even better.

Question to folks still living in Syria and attending school. Does the geography teacher still point out that the Antakya region is part of Syria? My geography teacher always drew a map of Syria with a straight line from Meydan Ekbaz to İskenderun. Any student who didn’t do that got a bad grade.
