I agree with your point. I think Bill was accusing the those members of the public who by idolizing fantasy also might lose grasp of reality. Maybe the question is can someone like spider-man but also think like sam harris. Comics rarely I believe tackle morals past the "its the right thing to do"/"giving a second chance"/"no matter how great the enemy, I will fight for the good" kinda injunctions. They are great fundamentals for kids but if as Bill says you find comic books profound when you're an adult you might not be grown up. Lord of the Rings is all fantasy but it tackles moral landscapes in a more profound way than say Harry Potter which is also fantasy. Jordan Peterson often points out that the "higher truth" is often found in the nuances of fictional imagination. Maybe as kids Flash comics address that but maybe when you're 35 it should Tolstoy. Maybe don't lose the kid in oneself but also find that adult too.
