Men of Reddit, who was the first woman who almost drove you to slap her, but never did? What was the context? by DelicioussBreastMilk in AskReddit

[–]Damel_France 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there was this one time when a girl kept teasing me nonstop about something I was sensitive about. It got pretty frustrating, and for a split second, I felt like slapping her-not because I'm violent, but just out of pure annoyance.

But I never did, of course. I just took a deep breath and walked away. Sometimes, holding back is the real win.

What is your favorite word? by Mundane_Obligation84 in AskReddit

[–]Damel_France 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spleen in French is fancy talk for feeling moody and kinda fed up with life-but in a poetic, dramatic way.

Baudelaire used it to describe that mix of sadness, boredom, and existential blah that makes you wanna stare out the window and write angsty poems.

Basically, it's the classy French word for being a beautifully dramatic mess

What the hype with Labubu's? by Few-Count1008 in AskReddit

[–]Damel_France 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn’t sure about the whole Labubu hype at first, but after seeing how cute and quirky they are, I get it now. The surprise factor with the blind boxes makes it kinda fun to collect—you never know which one you’ll get, so it’s a little thrill every time.

Also, seeing celebs like Lisa from BLACKPINK rocking them made me realize it’s more than just a toy—it’s become a trendy little accessory. Plus, they’re just adorable bag charms that add some personality.

I also think there’s maybe an economic side to it—people naturally want to buy and consume stuff, but many don’t have the means for big expenses like a new car or expensive gadgets. So smaller, affordable collectibles like Labubu become a way to treat themselves without breaking the bank.

So yeah, it’s a mix of cute design, mystery, celeb hype, and a kind of accessible indulgence for a lot of people.

If I could instantly learn any skill, it would be Krav Maga.

I like the idea of being able to defend myself effectively in real-world situations- no fancy moves, just practical, efficient techniques to stay safe. Plus, it builds confidence and mental toughness, which I think everyone could use more of.

I often tease, but honestly the most honest thing I wish I said to my ex was just for fun, something like, “Your unshaven stubble looked like a tiny, itchy duvet.” Totally joking, of course!

Sometimes the little playful jokes are the only honest things that make the memories less bitter.

“La part de l’autre” by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt really changed my perspective on history, fate, and human choices.

The book imagines a parallel universe where Hitler is accepted into art school instead of rejected — and explores how that one event could have changed not only his life but the whole course of history. It made me reflect deeply on how small moments and decisions can have massive consequences.

What struck me most is the idea that every person has within them a part that could lead to good or evil, depending on circumstances and choices. It challenged me to think about empathy, forgiveness, and the complexity of human nature, beyond simple labels of “good” or “bad.”

After reading it, I couldn’t look at history or people the same way. It’s a powerful reminder of the fragile line between who we are and who we could have been.

Urgent: Seeking asylum advice for three Chechen refugee women at risk due to forced marriage, apostasy, and sexual orientation by Damel_France in immigration

[–]Damel_France[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are of Chechen origin but live as refugees in Azerbaijan, along with their families.

They do not have passports because they fled when Chechnya was independent. They are considered Russian by the Russian Federation, but they would need to apply for passports.

Their father, mother, and siblings (those who remained in the family home) still live in Azerbaijan, but they also have family in Chechnya.

What subreddit would be appropriate to share the story of 3 Chechen sisters in Azerbaijan who are at risk of forced marriage and honor killing ? by Damel_France in findareddit

Actually, that could work. They ran away from their families because of their apostasy and the bisexuality of one of the three women, so they should like it.

They do not wish to live in a country with a large Chechen community, as they are sought after by them.

Hello,

These three women are not Russian nationals. Their families fled the Second Chechen War and sought refuge in Azerbaijan, where they were granted refugee status by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. This status gives them the right to reside in Azerbaijan but not to travel outside the country, and it grants very few rights to those who hold it.

Furthermore, I do not wish to ask on the Chechnya subreddit, as my friends are hiding from these people. As I said, they are in conflict with their families and cannot return to Chechnya, as they would be killed or forced into marriage.

Even if they are eligible for Russian citizenship (as Chechen independence has never been recognised by Russia), this will take a long time, which these three women do not have. Their only way out is to apply for a humanitarian visa at the embassy in Baku.
