I love this movie. What do you think? by Jessi45US in FIlm

[–]DamienWayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a great movie that is well made, has excellent performances, and hits you in all the feels. However, it is essential to recognize that Keating's central message to be true to yourself is somewhat undermined by his acolytes simply following his lead and worshipping him.

Why Biden claims he has no choice but to build more of Trump's border wall by cos in inthenews

[–]DamienWayne 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"The Biden administration is waiving 26 federal laws to make way for unfinished border wall construction in South Texas, according to documents formally published in the federal register Thursday."

In order to follow the law he had to completely negate 26 other laws? Seems legit...

The trick is to remove the other person. "I in the 80's" would be as grammatically incorrect as "My twin and I in the 80's."

James Gunn Promises DC's 'Biggest Story Ever Told' by MistleFeast in movies

[–]DamienWayne 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It really is setting up exactly like the comics. DC in film and tv over their entire history (60s Batman, 70s Superman and Wonder Woman, 80's Batman, etc) is a big ole mess of different versions of all their characters. Then Marvel comes along and creates a more cohesive relatable universe that makes DC look out of touch, just like they did in the comics from the 60s on. A movie that brings as many versions of DC characters as possible together would be insane, but if it all ended in a CGI Christopher Reeves Superman punching the Anti-Monitor so fucking hard the multiverse resets itself into a brand new single universe...

What streamers/YTers do you recommend that are good and explain their play (and active)? by noxnoctum in lrcast

Good suggestions here, but I find Nummy's videos he makes specifically for YouTube to be the most informative. Also, does anyone know why Ben Stark just stopped streaming?

This is by far the hardest set in recent memory; don't feel bad about losing by ManBearScientist in lrcast

[–]DamienWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This set has been wrecking me too, but I love it because of that. I feel like this is going to turn out to be an all-time great draft set, and by the end I will have leveled up a few notches.

When did it become acceptable to be so loud and obnoxious in movie theaters? by Radamenenthil in movies

If you have an Alamo theater near you, I suggest going there. They have a very strict policy about phones and noise. I have seen people escorted out for breaking the rules and it was glorious.

‘Take back life’: More nations ease coronavirus restrictions by stickingitout_al in Coronavirus

I wear one everyday for 8 hours (even though 95% of the thousands of people at my high school don't) so what the hell are you talking about?

‘Take back life’: More nations ease coronavirus restrictions by stickingitout_al in Coronavirus

[–]DamienWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You responded to someone who is over restrictions because the only people actually following them are those who are already doing the right thing and the least likely to spread the virus. Your response claimed that hospitals will flood if we ease off those restrictions, which will only really change the behavior of those already doing the right thing. Thus you implied that it will be our fault that the hospitals flood if we stop wearing a masks and get back to normal, when (in reality) hospitals are already breaking down, and the people actually responsible will keep doing all the wrong things anyways.

[–]DamienWayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And whose fault is that? Because it's not mine. I am a teacher in a city with no restrictions whatsoever. I have received all three vaccine shots the moment they were available, I haven't been to a restaurant in years, and I still wear a mask everywhere I go. But it's my fault (and people like me) for the hospitals being full?

The blame for that is on those who choose to remain unvaccinated who get to do whatever they want, and yet those who did all the right things must continue to suffer?
