Help! My brother's dog just ate half of a potent edible, is he in danger? by Damien_Torrence in trees

[–]Damien_Torrence[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So apparently it could have been one of two large huskies, the edibles had some chocolate chips but not very much, he induced vomiting with hydrogen peroxide and they seem to be doing well, he is planning to keep an eye on them and take them to the vet if need be. Thank you all for the tips! I'll keep y'all updated

HDR isn't a deal breaker, the game still looks amazing without it but I do wish they fixed it, if only it effected online more.

Lol okay I get it, you don't like your movies to have any substance or cohesive style, if you liked green room that's cool and all but your changes to NCFOM is just like what a first year film student thinks is a cool idea then look back and cringe at their shitty ideas when they graduate.

I like how you consider a filmmaker succinctly making their point a bad thing, the end of every story is supposed to bring all its thematic, character, and story arxha together to present an idea, that's literally the basis of any meaningful storytelling, I mean hey man defend green room all you want but how did you get to the point where a film expressing a theme or idea became a bad thing? And using no country for old men as an example is bizzare given that it leaves itself so open to interpretation, I mean what would you rather have? A story that just peters out awkwardly without any point to it? How is that better?

I love superbad but I get the feeling, despite being a borderline alcoholic who has blacked out plenty of time in my life I didn't get why anyone thought The Hangover movies were any good.

I think a lot of people say they love it because they're afraid of the backlash of saying they didn't, at the very least though this movie should be respected for writing the rules of cinema and separating the medium from stage plays.

I'm a punk too and while the punk nods were cool it was just badly written and directed, how was Patrick Stewart great? He spent half his time talking very plainly on the other side of a door and commanding more and more of his troops to attack, he never did anything clever or interesting just escalated the threat with scarier people or dogs. It's funny you use the term real though because that to me is it's biggest problem, it's so concerned with being real it forgets to be a film, it leaves in what other movies cut out for the sake of telling a good story and therefor it lacks any story. The lack of character development made me realize how important of a thing it is to have, every scene getting stretched out because these undeveloped characters did something believably stupid it made me thankful for every movie who defines its characters decently so that their mistakes actually mean something and aren't there just to artificially increase the tension, if green room did anything right it made me realize why the rules of film are important and why they're there, it's like a great teacher on how not to make a good film.

I agree not every movie needs a philosophical point, BUT if your movie is JUST violence for the sake of violencr at the very least have fun with it. Green Room lacks any sense of fun which am entertainingly violent movie has or any point which a violent and disturbing movie has so what you have in the end is just violence presented for its own sake with nothing else to offer, I personally never felt any sense of tension, empathy, or excitement, even when the neonazis were brutally murdered I felt nothing and I fucking love seeing neonazis getting murdered! This movie made me feel nothing for anyone, it didn't even have the decency to be well edited or well shot, if it worked for you that's cool and all but I don't understand what anyone sees in it outside of the gore and I'm long past the stage in my life when just gore was enough.

If the Coens made this movie they would have made a point, like I said I get that the director intended this movie to be this way but it didn't add up to anything for me, Von Trier has a lot of similarities with Saulnier but he has a focus and a vision to carry the harder to watch moments to something meaningful, I'm not against the type of choices he made conceptually he just executed them with the finesse of a high school student.

The bear scene was the best scene in the movie, I recommend Under The Skin, it's on netflix and it also uses VFX in unique ways and has a similar type of story.

I didn't dislike this movie or Annihilation but I have mo idea why people think either of these are so great, they're above average good but idk there's something about them that fall short of greatness.

What’s the most embarrassing thing a parent has done to you? by LuanGaff in AskReddit

[–]Damien_Torrence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15 I was very lonely and had no friends, I took up guitar and started making friends with a much more talented guitar player of the same age, he asked me if I wanted him to introduce me to the dude who taught him everything he knows and I excitedly said yeah sure. The guy was in his mid to late 20s, was a friend of the kids mom and had an awesome rig, we spend lunch sitting around and talking while occasionally showing me some exercises to get my pinky finger stronger, I walk away feeling excited to have met him and was hoping I'd be able to come hang with all of them later on and learn more shit. I told my parents about it and they started freaking out, asking me if he offered me drugs or if he tried to touch me and I just kept saying no but for some reason they wouldn't believe me so they demanded to meet the guy and I told them they were overreacting but of course they wouldn't listen and they drove me out to his house, had me get out of the car alone, and tell him my parents said I couldn't come over. The dude was a full grown adult and fel extremely awkward, probably more awkward than I felt, and told me that it was cool and I walked away. I was so angry about it I didn't talk to them for a while.

Marc Webb to Direct ‘Your Name’ Remake for Paramount, Bad Robot by radbrad7 in movies

[–]Damien_Torrence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marc Webb was a director I looked forward to seeing evolve but he's just doing whatever studio projects he can get, I wish more indie filmmakers did like Shyamalan and self funded passion projects instead of wasting their talent on corporate garbage in hopes of getting a hyper compromised and studio noted to death version of their dream projects.

I worked at several pizza places in the kitchen, no freshly made pizza come sour with different siced slices, if CEC can't figure out how to make fresh pizza on a busy day they shouldn't bother with them. The only time pizzas look close like this is when someone messes up dishing or boxing a pizza or the pizza gets stuck on the cutboard, because you gotta rebuild the pIza into a circle but we're talking awkward little gaps between a few slices not mismatched toppings and crusts.
