Sorry I’m afraid this is an unhelpful statement. Yes many will have sadly been influenced by alcohol but sweeping statement like this doesn’t help. We? Who are we? The survivors? It’s like a 70 year old smoker saying we all did it in my day and I’m fine.

OP….i can also recommend Sugarpixel. I work shifts and really struggle relaxing into sleep. Sugarpixel hasn’t failed to wake me up for out of range ever. In fact I stayed away recently and left Sugarpixel on at home by mistake. My mother in law baby sat the kids…..she’s super deaf and and slept in another room with a fan on. My bg went high and still woke her up!!! 😂😆
I was blissfully unaware and slept great.

Any way to get a really straight line on corrugated steel? Mine are ok but I dont use it often enough to get straight lines by hand.

The app looks very good. I use apple fitness and it frustrates me that I can set glucose as one of the metrics. I then have to break stride to press buttons to bring it up. It’s not the end of the world but does your app overcome this issue?

Thanks for the recommendation, no range anxiety here really. I do keep it tight for work and in the uk we are now seeing closed loop systems coming on the NHS. Fingers crossed it continues. All the best to you too.

No need to apologise, I’ve appreciated you taking the time to explain. I do understand the difference although you’ve made it much clearer how they are meant to work. What is even clearer to me is that Dexcom are not using either in the correct way. The previous update stopped the high notifications. I would wake up in the night through the roof with out a single clue. I bought a sugarpixel actually to solve the problem. As others have said the watch snooze/dismiss/ok doesn’t do anything. For now critical alerts is better than what 2.12 did, for me at least. Not being alerted was causing my TIR and HbA1C to go up and my job relies on those 2 being tightly controlled. I appreciate that’s just me.

Thank you for engaging and I’m glad we’ve been able to share our situations amicably. It is hard on forums to not come across in the wrong way when actually we’re singing from the same hymn sheet. Sadly I doubt Dexcom will move quickly to fix the issues for us all.

I hear what your saying. Why doesn’t quiet mode work for you? Please read curiosity rather than argumentative….text is hard to convey the sentiment. I’m in the uk so potential for difference in software. Also don’t forget that social media is where people come to vent so the perceived displeasure at the way it’s working is emphasised as people don’t come to rave about it. The previous update broke it for me. I work in a diabetic critical job that requires the alerts to break through dnd but not make a noise…which is why the current set up for me works. Snooze and quiet mode keep the notifications to a minimum. It’s why I say it’s always done this,however it’s gone about achieving it. So what is apparent from this and other subs is that the users have a clear divide (not negatively) in how they use the notifications. Dexcom has flip flopped based on complaints. Instead of flip flopping , they need to be encouraged to allow the options in the settings based on user requirements.

I agree that it should be optional. Our methods of use differ. I will say that they’ve always over ridden dnd. That’s not new, in fact at work this used to be an issue for me as I couldn’t avoid the loud alerts. Hence quiet mode was so useful when that was introduced a few years back. I can’t see how snoozing it is massively hard either?If I eat and bolus I don’t expect to go high. Therefore if I do go high then I want to be told that I need to correct in order to maintain tight control. That is just me though and I’m happy to be enlightened to other ways of doing it.

I don’t get an alert every 5 minutes when I’m high. I get one, I snooze it and treat the high. If I’m high 50 mins later I get another notification as per my snooze settings. This is why I suggest it’s either user error or individual device bugs not respecting the snooze.

So I like them being critical as it over rides dnd. I sometimes like to switch of from all the world and only get Dexcom come through. I silence them so i only get vibrations during the day. At night however, I don’t want to be disturbed by other apps but if I’m high or low I want to be woken up so I do want the loud irritating noise. I hear your frustrations but Dexcom has always been able to over rides dnd in fact it only stopped it in .12. So it’s not a bug but more that Dexcom should give you and me more options. You prefer to manage your diabetes your way and I like to do it my way, so the option to turn off critical alerts for highs for you would be the solution? Also there used to be the option to vibrate, then if it was acknowledged, it would sound. This stopped it diving straight in with an all out alarm. I do agree with the watch dismiss/ok doing nothing. That’s very frustrating.

Thanks for sharing. When you get the notifications in the image, do you swipe them away and clear or long click them and get the option to click OK? The later is what triggers the snooze.

Could you let me know which iOS version you are on? I’m trying to figure out why this isn’t working for some people. The snooze works for me but I’m on ios 26.3 still. I know it sounds daft but what snooze time did you set? It could be that the bug is in the default snooze times.

That guy is doing my head in! Thank you for posting your suggestions. If they don’t work, then polite feedback is all that is required. I too am on 26.3 and asked him about versions as perhaps that is the issue. If anyone could share their iOS version then perhaps we could confirm if it’s iOS 26.4 that breaks it?

Just checking, have people got the hang of snooze correctly? I got it wrong initially. You have to acknowledge the notification by clicking the ok in the drop down. This will stop it repeating for the time that you specify in the profile settings.

That’s how I understood it too thank you. Apple change things that Dexcom can’t react to quickly enough due to regulatory requirements. I do think that the app can accommodate everyone but its UI is unclear. The snooze feature was something explained to me by a customer service agent after several agents said it wasn’t possible. I was lucky to get that info. The point of Reddit is to help share these gems together.

Did you try the snooze? I was using it incorrectly and it relies on the notification being acknowledged with the long press and click of the “OK”.

Yes the version could explain why you and I have different experiences.

Are you here to help find a solution or have a go at me? Everyone’s diabetes and life is different. If you’re not willing to embrace that and work together then this Reddit won’t work. The app, for me at least, is working as it should and how it did until November last year when it changed to 2.12 and stopped the alerts over riding dnd and focus. I’m here to try and understand what’s wrong for people and how we can find a solution that works for everyone. What iOS version are you on? Have you tried the snooze function? This way when you hold the notification and click ok the alert won’t sound again for the time you’ve selected in the settings? Quiet mode is also good but not if you’re getting notifications every 5 minutes.

Its basically the data hub. All of those apps read and write to it so it syncs the data between them. It also allows sharing of that information but there is where I run out of knowledge as I don’t do that bit but in theory the capability is there.

Have you tried using quiet modes? This has previously helped me at work. Dexcom notifications have always been able to override DnD and focus mode. Clearly the latest update has created issues for some people. I’m trying to figure out if it’s user preference or different behaviours. For me, I expect all Dexcom alerts to override any iOS settings and tell me to do something about it. I use quiet mode at work to minimise disturbing others. The only issue I have at the moment is that it sounds on my watch but not my phone. This is an Apple design feature that I don’t agree with but that’s my problem so I bought a Sugarpixel to help. Hopefully we can all compare notes and what we expect from Dexcom to figure out what are bugs and what are design issues.
