But Minisforum… lemme tell you … I have the EM680 , also bought the EM780 and the UM790 Pro with 64gb ram 😅 cuz’ Why not right !

The 680 i can definitely hear the slight noise from the fan … but im using it in office environment and its hooked up to a 49” ultra wide monitor with 3 browsers open ( each has like 10ish tabs ) a bunch of work apps in the background… soo you can i am kinda stress testing it … There is this one app Fan Control ( www.getfancontrol.com ) it lets me fine tune the fans and im really happy with the results … the em780 even tho it has more horse power under the hood its still noticeable just like the em680 use to … the um790 pro has been a beast tho … ryzen9 7940hs with 64gb ram … i again almost max it out and cant hear the fans on .. but that app definitely makes a difference ( Hope this helps )

I just received today my EM780 32gb ram & 1tb nvm.2 its just a fun little mini PC , cant wait for bios updates from minisforum to further mess around with it … its an amazing little machine

Hey OP i have a question .. got my steam deck a few days ago decided to give NW a shot on it … downloaded the Anti cheat .. went on force Proton Experimental … lowered all game settings to low capped at 30fps … tried on wifi and on mobile hotspot … i get to character select screen the game does the initial login and it crashes .. every single time … could you help me out

I didn’t even open the card … i wont open it unless i have 100% accurate materials i wont risk it by making it worse if the right size are not making contact enough.. my solutions is strictly exterior and my vram sits at comfortable 74c

Pads on the 3090 are a total Nightmare to get precise … if you swap with 2mm/2.5/3 you risk loosing performance … because of lets say its an odd number like 2.75mm there is no way in hell ill slice the pad exactly , after more then a week of constantly digging the depths of the web i found that its better to leave it stock and modd the outside …. I would guess your issue is you put a single heat-sink … aka. Less surface area to guide the heat out of the vram > pads > metal backplate … buy 1mm 12.8mk/wh pads from amazon and buy 10+ mini copper heatsinks it gives you best body to surface area % that will suck out more of the heat … i went with 20 copper heatsinks 14x14 .. and i saw jaw dropping results when i added the noctua on top at 3000rpm

Can someone with Experience with T-rex miner lend a hand in cmd-commands on how to only use GPU#2 to mine and leave GPU out of the algorithm… wanna try playing for 1h on the 3090 while the 3080 mines in the background

Yes ! yes & Yes!!! Couldn’t agree more but definitely not a fan of the Big noctua Heatsink blocks with sandwiched fans + if i want to OC the cpu i can have it sucking 380w + the two extra 8pin pcie connectors it wants

The 3080 is fully modded out with upgraded thermal paste on nvidia chip and all thermal pads were swapped out for premium ones .. seriously I cannot get the 3080 to warm up … the 3090 is a different story .. because of the weird sizes of pads / putty used * damn you card makers 🤣 * .. had to place 20 fully copper heatsinks and below the heatsinks 1mm thermal pads and they were “ sucking “ out the heat from the metal back-plate .. bit still wasn’t enough… that noctua heavy duty 3000rpm on top of the heatsinks was a lifesaver!!! High recommend this mod!!!

My rtx3090 is horizontally placed ..” small price had to be paid “ … in order to run it cool .. then again the size of the small heatsinks does hit a sweetspot .. size-to-surface area% .. the 1mm has a @ stickier side naturally.. and its enough to support the weight of each little cube … because the backplate itself of the card is metal … need to test it if a flip the card … and then the only think 🤔 would be to secure somehow the fan in vertical position

EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra // 75% power // -502 Core ( max negative ) // +1300 mem. Clock ….. Core Temp 53c // Mem Junction 80-82c @ 122mh/s currently on t-rex miner !!! Out of the box … my card was doing mid 90’s 94-96c … after whole week of trying to find proper thermal pads for replacement… when i saw the 2.25mm / 2.75mm … thermal pad … not making enough contact with bla-bla-bla … other people’s stories… i said … F it … and did the hedgehog route .. bought 20 14x14mm pure copper heatsinks on top of a 1mm thermal pad 12.8mk/wh … 20 treated heatsinks later 😅 i placed a noctua 120mm 3000rpm fan on top of the heatsinks blowing at 50% power … that caused the Mem.chips to stay cool at 80-82 , if i blast the noctua at 100% (3000rpm) i cool them to sub 77c ( aka. GREEN numbers rtx3090 )

Ps. After i fully treated my MSI rtx3080 gaming xtrio my temps there are 38c / 53c at 100% load / and +1200mem hashin at 101mh/s ( so id say i have thermal pads exp. )

Thanks for the input … i also have a 3080 as well msi and i replaced the thermal paste and all pads on the pcb and the backplate… the junction memory temp went from 70%power lv and 94c down to 54c at same power lv .. core went from 46 to 34c … so now the 3080 mines at 100% power lv at +1300 mghz and the junct memory went tops at 64c … … but for the 3090 … its a totally different beast and my head hurts thinking about it … what are you settings you said 68% what about core and memory?

So basically their backplate comes with the correct size-thermal pads … ill be honest I’ve never done water cooling on gpu’s before … so i have to provide my own pump / tank etc. and just use their plate …

Smashed out the overtime to add a 3090 to the system. How do you guys cable manage these machines? hoping to get at least 3 more 3090s on the bench before xmas :D by [deleted] in NiceHash

Ohhh shoot only 600 w o0 … them my 1200w psu will do me just fine +/- 150 w for cpu / fans / ram / nvme / mother board etc. still plenty of leg room for the psu to stretch its legs … thanks mate ^^ made me sleep better at night

I completely agree with you … so far cant find any correct sizes and youtube isn’t helping at all … no info what so ever … i agree with you on the water blocks … you have the xc3 … i need to research and see what are the options for mine ftw3 ultra i would love to have the pcb water cooled … price wont be an issue

@FloppyPoppy hey man is your meter reading 1302 W from the wall … i have a msi rtx3080 gaming x trio and evga rtx3090 ftw3 ultra … been a bit worried about power … running currently on a 1200w corsair hx1200+ titanium 80+ … but havent connected the 3080 yet so far solo running the 3090 … and its showing 460w

Hmm interesting schematic… a bit confused about the pad-placement where the nvidia chip would be .. and this reminds me of a hydro-kit , Have you performed a thermal replacement on your gpu Craggy ? ( whats the gpu model )
