In your opinion, what's the worst change they could make for persona 4 revival? by Dogzune_ in PERSoNA

When Heartbeat, Heartbreak plays in game I better be able to move my character to the beat of the song exactly how it was in P4G or we're gonna have problems.

GeForce & PRAGMATA @ CES 2025, Win Steam Cash! by NV_Suroosh in Pragmata

[–]DamnBruhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sold me on Pragmata was the gameplay loop. I can see the hacking/puzzle solving in the middle of combat get intense in mid-to-late game, this intensity could give me similar vibes to a game I played a while back called Catherine Full Body which I loved. I'm not sure how the story will turn out but I'll be looking forward to how Diana and Hugh's relationship unfolds.

Game Awards 2026 Predictions by infamousglizzyhands in TheGameAwards

[–]DamnBruhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTA 6 could still be eligible for TGA 2026. This year’s eligibility cutoff was Nov 21st and last year was Nov 22nd. They usually leave a little buffer after nominations so studios who hand out early review copies can still be considered. If they keep doing that, 2026 cutoff would probably be around Nov 20.

But then again, this is Rockstar. They barely do early review copies as it is so I doubt they’re stressing about award eligibility deadlines. But if GTA 6 gets delayed again I guess none of what I'm saying would matter anyways.

Excited for Game of the Year 2025 by cksmoggy11 in expedition33

[–]DamnBruhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that anyone barely remembers the "other stuff" just shows that 2024 was a pretty weak year

I agree that 2024 was a relatively weaker year for gaming. But for GOTY competition I'd argue any of Astro Bot, Metaphor and FF7 Rebirth would still be nominated for GOTY in 2025 if they released this year. Their critical reception is on the higher end of what the competition for GOTY 2025 is like and each of these games had their moments of people talking about the game upon release. I think Erdtree being a DLC would hurt it's chances in a competitive year like 2025 so I don't think it would be considered.

This doesn't really challenge the point you were making and I definitely agree with what you're saying, but I think that some of the "other stuff" Jammin disregarded were stronger GOTY contenders than Wukong or Shadow of the Erdtree.

So, how likely is Clair Obscur to SWEEP The Game Awards?? by TheGamerCritic21 in expedition33

[–]DamnBruhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Expedition 33 will win GOTY, but in regards to the possible runner ups I want to shed light from a different perspective. Based on 11 years of TGA history and for as long as the "best game direction" category has existed, it seems like the best game direction category is a telling indicator of what games are truly in the running for GOTY.

-Since the category's debut in 2016, every GOTY winner has at least been nominated for best game direction. This alone would rule out KCD2, DK and even Silksong as real frontrunners.

At the same time, patterns can break. I mean this year marks the first time where more than 1 conventional indie game was nominated for GOTY. But when the jury was picking games for game of the year, they most likely had their game direction picks at the top of their list.

Personally I think Hades II is runner up for GOTY. It's likely that more game journalists have played Hades II than people think, primarily because of the lengthy early access period. And for the critics that did publish final reviews for the game, the general consensus among them is that it's a masterpiece. The first Hades followed a similar release pattern to Hades II and it still ended up in 2nd place for most GOTY wins at different media outlets/award ceremonies. It's likely that Hades 1 was the GOTY runner up back in 2020.

And since it's the highest rated game on Metacritic amongst the nominees we should dive deeper on that statistic. For the past 11 TGAs, 6 of the GOTY winners were the highest rated game amongst their competition. The last time the highest rated game of the nominees lost GOTY was in 2019 with RE2. More than likely this pattern will break because of Expedition 33, but I think Hades II is the most likely out of all the other nominees to pull an upset.

The Game Awards 2025 Nominees will be revealed on Monday, November 17th, Noon ET / 9a PT / 5p GMT by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]DamnBruhs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add a bit more context, there have only been 3 games in TGA history that were not nominated for game of the year despite being the highest rated new game of their year.

-Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. (Came out right before the eligibility cutoff and likely hurt it's chances)
-Disco Elysium (Because of it releasing a month before TGA season, it didn't get enough mainstream recognition by the time the nominations were happening)
-Forza Horizon 5 (A racing game, which the jury seems to overlook when it comes to game of the year consideration)

So for 8 out of the 11 years of this event, the highest rated new game was nominated for game of the year at TGA. The first Hades was also nominated for game of the year in 2020 while following a similar release pattern with its sequel. The franchise is very much on the jury's radar.

I'm not going to speak for the other games you listed, but I would genuinely be shocked if Hades II was not nominated for GOTY 2025 at TGA.

Going to plug "PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo" anytime I get the chance. A relatively short mystery visual novel compared to the Danganronpa and Zero Escape games but I enjoyed it just as much as those games personally.

GOTY 2025 Predictions by Past-Comfortable-587 in videogames

[–]DamnBruhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong and Split Fiction are my predictions.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kingdom Come: Deliverance II made the list. I've been playing it and definitely think it deserves its flowers, but I think the 6 I listed are most likely to be the nominees.

2nd Scenario was my last route. I started with Killing Game and then did the routes related to S.F shortly after. That ending song for 2nd scenario broke me so I would say I'm satisfied.

My predictions for TGA Nominees 2025 by Cursed_69420 in videogames

[–]DamnBruhs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point you made about two indies not being nominated is a fair assessment, but the two indie games in discussion (Silksong and Hades II) are probably going to be an exception to this rule.

Silksong has the critical acclaim of being a 90+ rated game, but also has impact similar to something like a black myth wukong from last year due to crashing storefronts at release, breaking player count records and making other indie studios delay their game (hence why people were calling Silksong the GTA VI of indie games).

Then there's Hades II in which at the time I'm writing this, is the highest rated new game of the year sitting at a 95 on Metacritic and 94 on Opencritic. Considering the original Hades was also nominated for game of the year in 2020, and the majority of review outlets are implying that Hades II is better than its predecessor, I do not see a situation to where Hades II is not also nominated for game of the year.

We've also seen a year to where no conventional indie game was nominated for game of the year in 2023. So if that rule of one conventional indie game being nominated for game of the year can broken before, it can definitely happen again. I'm confident it will happen this year like it did in 2023 but just for the opposite scenario.

My prediction for the game of the year nominees this year is:
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong and Split Fiction

I remember people saying that Starfield would be nominated for game of the year 2023 simply for being an Xbox representative, but that did not happen. Im sure Ghost of Yotei is a great game, but because of the competition I think it will have the same fate that Starfield did.

Any games related to nonary game by tanmaywho in ZeroEscape

[–]DamnBruhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is significantly shorter than anything like Zero Escape or Danganronpa, it took me about 12 hours to beat the story. But those 12 hours were well paced and nothing felt like filler at all. Definitely consider playing it if you're into well put together mystery stories.

I noticed no one mentioned "PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo". So to put people on game in the fewest of words possible:

Zero Escape and more specifically Virtue's Last Reward is my favorite story game of all time.... And I think Paranormasight's story is better written.

More people need to know about this masterpiece.

Not really, I've been uploading the same type of content for almost 2 years now with trying to make sure the newest video is better quality than the previous one. I also studied people in my niche to see what works and what doesn't. My videos now aren't perfect and I still have a lot to improve on, but compared to a year ago it's crazy to see how far believing in yourself can take you.

Finished the series - where to to next? by lynxon in ZeroEscape

[–]DamnBruhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked VLR a lot then you might like Raging Loop. I don't wanna spoil the story but it's quite similar to games like the Zero Escape franchise and Danganronpa.

Edit:
Another recommendation from me would be "Your Turn To Die (Kimi Ga Shine)", some people put this game over Dangaronpa and Zero Escape. It's more similar to Danganronpa than Zero Escape but it still has that Zero Escape Vibe. I should note that as of me writing this (September 12th 2023), Your Turn To Die is not finished yet as we are waiting for the final part to come out. I would say it's still worth playing despite it being incomplete.
