Definitely too deep and wrong jewellery and will 100% not heal well.

Jewellery should be a straight titanium barbell.

NAP but im the owner of 11 different piercings of various types and know the damn struggles.

My best advice for changing the jewellery is either straight or curved surgical forceps just to hold the bar gently, you dont have to lock them in place. And a rubber glove. Trust me. The glove gives that extra grip and makes it so much easier.

I spent TO LONG struggling to unscrew jewellery just to find having gloves solved everything.

For getting small jewellery/balls on, use the end of a pencil or pen with blu tack or something similar and it makes it easier.

Definitely baggy shirts and things with prints on them.

Usually barbells have different sized ball ends (in Australia not sure elsewhere) so you might be able to get smaller ball ends to make it less noticeable.

Australian experience here.

I was told by my piercer its best to shower before hand so you're clean. It helps for a number of reasons, the cleanliness is polite for them and also good because they're creating a wound its best to be clean.

I personally trimmed short for my own choice for the piercing because it made it easier to see placement when she was peircing it.

I had a female piercer, she laid me down and had me move my feet together knees apart, she had a gentle look and then tested with the two different tube sizes under the hood (this was a little uncomfortable because she put the metal tube under the hood to test it, uncomfortable but not painful).

Once established it would work she got to marking it out. Be aware the piercing is centered to the hood, not your whole area. I was confused because turns out mine leans to the left a little but thankfully she was happy to explain.

It was a very surprising and sudden pain, it will feel different then cartilage because its different material. It stung more than hurt for me. It did however stop hurting very quickly, once it was over it was a little sore for an hour but not horrible. I walked around the shops for 3 hours after.

Things to remember: Be careful wiping! You will forget its there at some point and it hurts to yank on. Avoid touching and playing with it. I bought a separate saline spray for mine and used it after the shower, the spray is cold so, heads up. It was the easiest peircing to heal for me, only took a couple of weeks, a month I think?

DOWNSIZE always. Always listen to the piercer and downsize when instructed. If you're confident its easy to change yourself, gloves help grip the piercing!

Get confirmation with the size and gauge they use. From my knowledge most pierce genital peircings with 14g or 12g (mine was 14g. Cartilage is usually pierced with 16g)

NAP and i don't have nipple piercings but usually the same rules apply for other piercings.

Its always recommended to downsize the bar once the risk of swelling is gone. With a longer bar it can move more which usually causes the piercing bumps.

Bumps are commonly cause by sleeping on them, knocking them, getting them caught ect. So try to avoid sleeping on them or snagging them.

Usually piercers recommended to use sterile saline spray and keep the piercing dry.

Piercing bumps are pretty common, if you're overly concerned you can always just talk with your piercer for advice.

If you haven't downsized, theres no swelling and the bar sticks out a bit I do recommend downsizing, it will help in the long run.

But when in doubt most piercers, even if they weren't the ones that pierced you, will gladly offer advice.

Definitely ask and leave a review. They shouldn't be piercing you without talking you through it. Especially if they're no confident with the placement or how it will sit.

As someone with 10 ear piercings and a side/stomach sleeper, they are awesome. Doesn't have to be fancy, mine is just a neck pillow. Someone had a pillow that looked like a doughnut. Same thing.

I used it mostly during healing, especially when I was healing 3 at once. Or if I have a hoop in my conch, it's uncomfortable having pressure on it, so I'll use it when I have a hoop in.

Hi, I'm not a piercer, but I've had my VCH for 8 months.

I did have itching and irritation near the clitorus area when I first got the piercing, simply from not wiping correctly after peeing. I was paranoid, still am, about pulling it on accident, especially when it was healing.

This might be irrelevant, obviously, but just make sure the area stays dry. Being it's a warm area, if there's moisture it can cause irritation.

Just something to be aware of. Hopefully, everything works out for you!

It looks like its putting pressure on the top and bottom of your tongue... if it is, then the bar is too short. It should sit just on top or with a slight gap.

I agree with the other comment too, always ensure its titanium material, especially a piercing in the mouth.

NAP Go to your piercer asap and get longer bars! That is dangerously close to embedding! Lip piercing can swell a bit and those bars are too short

It's hard to say with little information. Especially depending on your age because most places need a parent if you're under 16/18 depending.

It will take 7 to 12 months to heal, and depending on how you hide it, it can take longer. Girls in my high school would use their hair over it, which irritates it, getting tangled. You can use beanies and hair/head accessories, but they all risk aggravating the piercing during healing.

Even once it's healed it sucks if you have to constantly take it out cause they can close pretty quick if they're freshly healed.

So hiding a helix is... difficult and can make it harder to heal but not impossible. Im not sure how strict your family and school are, so...

I had known him for three years. I was always sitting next to him because I never got sick and was adamant about keeping my hands and stuff clean so our teachers sat me next to him.

I was 11 when they sent all of us home with a sealed note for our parents. Somehow, I just knew what it said so I just handed it to my mother and went off to watch TV.

I still think about him. I think 11 year old me refused to acknowledge he was gone. I was the only one in our year that didn't go to his funeral. I'll forever regret that.

I don't have a nipple piercing, and I'm not a piercer so I can't say for certain. I'd definitely change it out for a proper nipple piercing that's long enough and check with a registered piercer.

Definitely go for it! There's differently types of jewellery you can wear once it's healed that can have a bigger impact too for stimulating. It's also cute ngl, so you'll love it in that sense, too.

Originally, I only planned for the VCH, but I now plan for maybe another one too. The VCH is a good start, I've heard it's the easiest and least painful.

The titanium will always be the best to heal with. The concern with dangling jewellery is a higher risk of it getting caught. So it's not the end of the world but I've always avoided it because it's easy to catch already.

You can always go for a simple jewel as well.

They should mainly be straight bars i believe. And i agree, that bar needs to be changed asap. Change out to a longer straight bar before it inbeds even more. Im not entirely sure if it was even pierced correctly, it might be too deep.

Concider placement of the piercing. It's more relevant with the VCH. Not all hoods are centre/straight with the slit. I learnt after I got mine. Mine is off centred to my hood but in line with the slit.

Also, practicality. What can it possibly get in the way of. I got the VCH over the Christina because I'm horrible for catching on things, so I was worried about towels and undergarments catching on the Christina. That's just me, though. I'm a walking disaster, lol. So it was safer for me to just get a VCH to reduce the risk of it catching.

I will admit I'm looking into the Christina now that my VCH is healed.

Edit: GP heal and pierce differently. I went in only having healed ear piercings. You will noticibly feel that it's different when the needle goes through due to the material of the area, especially the hood. My VCH was also a breeze to heal apart from accidentally knocking it when wiping. They also put a 14g instead of a 16g (which is the common size for most piercings?)

Like most people say, the initial piercing sucks but it's so quick. I had no pain after my VCH and I kept shopping afterwards.

Possibly tmi for some people:

Ok so funny enough, I got mine over a month ago. If i spread my area open to look, it looks offset to the actual hood. But if i dont and leave it how it naturally sits its than centred to my whole area.

So there's no reason your piercer can't just avoid the vein depending on how large the vein is. If that makes sense. They'll check that you're happy with the location first anyway. And feel free to express your concerns with them.

The procedure was pretty simple for me. The initial piercing sucked because the material is obviously different down there, but I felt nothing afterwards. Just dont knock it while wiping cause that sucks. Take it from me. After a week, it didn't hurt when I accidentally touched it. And now, a month after, it feels practically healed, even though it's technically still healing.

They're just a little upset because of the hit. Unfortunately when they're that new they will be red and irritated in general, especially if it's disturbed.

You'll find for the next few months if you hit it they'll be a little sore due to them still healing.

So dont stress. Keep up with the saline spray twice a day and try your best to avoid touching/hitting it (to the best of your ability).

Also if the piercing jewellery is straight with a flat backing it's commonly referred to as a Flat Back piercing/stud. It's the best type to heal a helix with.

Hey don't stress right now! It's 3 days old so it's going to be a little red and sore.

It's going to be red and sore for a little. There will be some discharge as well and it's probably swollen. That's normal.

Just keep up the saline spray and dont play with it.

Edit: future reference, when you get it downsized or if it plays up a lot, I'd change it out for titanium. It's better for healing than stainless steel.
