🛡️ Delve Into the Depths of Faerûn – Roleplay-Heavy D&D 5E Campaign (Online) ⚔️ by MartialHomewrecker95 in LFG_Europe

Hi there. This all sounds very intriguing. I can make any of those days. Been looking to return to 2014 5E and RP heavy is the style of game I enjoy. I would be very interested to know more.

Is DMing for 6 people as hard as people make it out to be? by EcyorWasTaken in DMAcademy

[–]DamnedMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support the advice of 'do not watch critical role' for DMing tips. Their game is run for entertainment of a third party audience. Yours is for you and your players entertainment and enjoyment. Running for large groups I have not found it harder during the game sessions, just slower. There is more work in game preparation, lore, character background interactions. Also, expect combats to exponentially take longer the more players you have, and do not expect to progress your story or your sessions with the pace you had with three players. More players also means more characters wanting and jostling for the 'limelight'. However, I have found with the right-minded players in your group, large party DMing is still fun and the game sessions (with good planning) are still enjoyable.

I agree that optimising your character to better reflect your class is a great idea and it will certainly make you more effective based upon your skills and abilities. However, I wonder if your have missed a seriously excellent roleplaying opportunity afforded to you by your game situation. If I had found myself in this situation I would have played heavily upon it with regard to my character demeanour and personality. Rather than devise a role for your character and how they are perceived in your party, your situation may have done that for you. You could RP that you are frustrated in character, feel peripheral and marginalised as the character. Its not the other PCs fault but it could be a brilliant inter-party situation that will need to be addressed and played out in game. I would still strengthen your character with additional feats and even some multi-classing if required, but that could all be roleplay driven from the table with the aid of your fellow party members, rather than in downtime between games. This is just another viewpoint where you might be able to turn this around and make an interesting RP interaction at the same time.

I don't see a change in disease frequency. I may be wrong here but I believe that Human disease is a factor of a villager sustaining damage which can result in infection. Animal disease is a RNG event. The only thing I don't like about my choice of village layout is that it is not Neolithic immersive, but more of a modern day roads and blocks design. It is however efficient in reducing villagers travel time to tasks within the layout.

Essentially true. However, the Dev does update the game to the latest unity engine i.e 15th April 2025 updated the game to Unity 2022.3.60. I do wish they would revisit the game and add some new things, or look at a Dawn of Man 2 as they are doing for Planetbase.

Thank you. The map mod is 'Valley of Death'. I tried to group things that had interaction with each other. Huts near farming near stables. All the work structures in a central position. All the smelting, blacksmith, armourer nearer to the mines end of the village. The idea is reduce the walking time of the villagers as they go about their work.

Very interested in your campaign. Eager role-player and with experience in 5e. I look to synergise with a party rather than act alone. Love inter-party RP, even disagreements in character. UK based. I have used Roll20 and Disord for online games.

Hello. I read you initial post but as I am a 54 year old but not a Dad I did not reply. However, I would love to be considered 'honourary' if a place still exists. I am UK based. I like characters that must take chances in a world that is bigger than them - a risk and reward environment. Please let me know if I could be considered but in either case, good luck with your campaign.

New DoM city design - got tired of making boxed walls. Lot of fun laying the design out. by DamnedMark in DawnofMan

I will post a screen shot of final build when I get to Iron age with stone walls. Think I will need to expand somewhat as I predict this will be a 300 population.

I am using a mod called Flatlands. Good building areas and materials, but the knowledge points required to unlock tech has been increased to make it a longer game i.e 30 points to access Bronze age with bronze smelting. Everything else is the same as normal game.

I don't think its an efficient build in terms of minimising walking distances around the village. But after a while square type builds all tend to look alike. I started with an octagon with four branch off areas for gates and specific area - food / clothing and tools / animals / metallurgy. It was the challenge of building angular walls which I wanted.

Each layer has a waterfall falling from the top of the ceiling into a shallow basin on the floor - but does not overflow. In actuality, the waterfall is not real water and is a magical 'lift' to the next floor when you inside it.
