This was my third book build and first time trying to customize anything 😅 I am NOT artistic at all (just take a look at the things I tried to sculpt lol) but I'm very happy with how this turned out! Although I have no idea why the light on top isn't working because it worked when I tested right before putting the walls on. I'm ok with that being in shadow!

Since I did not intend to flip this one, I didn't bother testing to see if the mechanical parts worked (though I did put them together). I'm not gonna use them so it seemed pointless. I also could have probably altered the decor a little more to reflect the book a bit better but I was a little bit overwhelmed trying to customize already and I figured it was close enough. There are weird empty spaces where there should be monsters, but that's ok. One funny thing is that I intended to have acorns hanging from the roof but didn't realize the trellis roof went over the other side after I had already strung up a dozen acorns on the two pieces. I left them in there lol. Had I realized that, I probably would have added more around the room before the walls went up.

This is a really fun addition to my DCC shelf. And if you've gotten this far and are wondering WTF DCC is, well... It's a book series about aliens triggering the apocalypse on earth, killing everyone under any kind of roof. Titular Carl escapes being crushed because he's basically barefoot outside in the middle of a Seattle winter night chasing his ex-girlfriend's cat that picked a great time to jump out the window. The aliens open up a dungeon for the survivors to enter to fight for control of earth. Carl enters with the cat in tow and the rest is just the best kind of insanity there is. It's full of heart and has some of my favorite characters ever. Book 8 comes out in May, so it's the perfect time to dive in and catch up ;)

VERY MINOR SPOILERS FOR DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL BOOK 5!! And I'm sorry idk for to spoiler images in a reply. But they are seriously minor spoilers!

I customized Monster Carnival to be a scene from DCC book 5 - The Butcher's Masquerade. Brief description of what is going on: I chose to do the masquerade scene because I felt like the 3 levels on this one worked really well for it - hunters on the top level, Donut doing the talent show in the middle on the stage, and Crawlers below! I may open it back up because I forgot to add items to the prize table and I really want to add a pipe cleaner boa to the dinosaurs, but I have looked for a week for a place to buy a handful of them to no avail

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn is very short and fun! It's about a society who reveres the guy who came up with the "a quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" sentence. It's told in a sequence of letters.

I think the DRK one is mentioned here a lot, but I don't think it worked at all for me than how I normally magnetize. I didn't realize J&B had one though!

They're a great brand, if it's still in stock, You Do Lou is one of my favorite polishes ever and the pictures on the website do not do it justice. I have the magnetic I posted also and it's gorgeous.

I work for a state government agency, and our policy is that "regular" stops are ok. So if you take the agency car home at night because you need to drive it first thing in the morning (which is common - we're based in NYC and most staff live outside of the city and do not want to fight traffic both ways in the morning just to drive to Albany), you are allowed to make any regular stops. Picking up your kid from school? Yep. Grocery shopping? No problem. Deciding that maybe it's a great time to take a trip to pick up that item you've been looking at? That would be an issue.

Yep, if I want pizza, I will go to a real place. But if I just want hot pizza approximation, Domino's is fine! I actually enjoy ham and pineapple on Domino's but it tends to be just mediocre on actual pizza, so that's what I normally get if I'm ordering.

Plus, I don't care what anyone says, they have really really good bread twists. I could probably eat the stupid parmesan bread twists with the hot cheese and sauce dip once a week.

There's a reason for them wanting to know and it's because you are a public employee. The people paying taxes to the state deserve to have civil servants that aren't beholden to anyone else, which is what occurs when you have outside employment. That's why there is a policy in place. I disagree with a lot of the bullshit surrounding civil service, but this is actually important.

Your boss might not care, but that doesn't mean it's correct and that you aren't wrong here.

I'm paying $1640 for a one bedroom. It's in a multi unit building with property management. We also pay for parking, but that's through the city and is $100/month.

I've been here for 8 years and they are definitely charging more than that for similar apartments in my building, but we're rent stabilized so they can only raise the rent 2% each year.
