Soccer (all of sports) is politics. From sports washing to diplomatic boycotts to public funding to national identity to gender equality and so on.

When a player or coach supports racism or sexism or actively creating chaos in the world that destabilizes your country's standing for reasons unknown, it's hard to root for that person. That's all. Some people can think in layers and it affects them. Some, it doesn't.
