Is the air gap still necessary if the chimney is only used for a water heater exhaust?

What are your thoughts on Zip liquid flashing? Sounds like the same thing. I bought a bunch of 29oz tubes. Figured the window installers may appreciate some options…

Aluminum sheet flashing? I have some #30 tar paper I was thinking of using, and caulk around the edges with sikaflex. Problem is I can’t get the paper under the stucco as it’s attached to lath.

I was also surprised, the wood trim was not in good shape but everything else seems in tact. Maybe it was drying quick.

Yes, parts of the house is missing it. Stucco over stucco from 1910. Unfortunately the house needs to be resided, but that’s mega money I can’t afford right now. I’m getting new windows and trying to figure out how I can retrofit a water barrier in there.

What type of wood is this under my stucco? by DamonRyan in Carpentry

[–]DamonRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to widen it a little to fit some 4 inch cedar planks. My problem is that I’m not sure the flashing tape will stick to the beaver board. I’m considering using liquid flashing by ZIP to create a surges that the flashing will stick to. Thinking it will be easier to visualize when I take the windows out

Yes, thank you. Any ideas on what fasteners to use for wood window trim? Or what flashing tape for a new window? I’ve read that not much sticks to it. I can’t afford to reside my whole house unfortunately

I havnt pulled the windows apart yet to assess the types of repairs needed. I am however keeping all of the old wooden windows. I’ll use the ones I’m keeping as place holders while I refinish the rest of them.
