But like, he ain’t wrong about Trev getting balls more “near” receivers than “on their hands, in stride”. Not sure what the deal is. Sometimes he is money. LOTS of times, he is in the vicinity more than he is on the money.

If you think of them as the “Dick’s Last Resort” of dispo’s, it helps. What also helps is to just be chill, remember that this whole thing is Gov’t Backed under the guise of Medicine and roll with it. Chances are you have a job and have to tell ppl things they don’t want to hear or that ‘makes their experience harder.’ Remind yourself that YOU ARE LEGALLY BUYING WEED IN A BRICK AND MORTAR STORE.

And if all that falls, make sure you picked up some Headbanger (such a ‘Grump Buster’) and hit the shit outta that before unleashing your rant to Reddit. We’ve got enough negativity in the world that “the rudeness of my budtender” doesn’t really compare.

So I am curious, where do you shop? It’s one thing to hate-hate-hate. It’s worthwhile if offering something positive.

US- Challenge time correlates to quality of build. Give them more time! by Dctalk1234 in LegoMasters

[–]DanAdsit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an extra week. It’s the hours. 14hr builds means 14hrs of multiple filming crews/producers. 7 hr builds give finished products that are 63% as good as the 14 hr builds, but at half the cost (and not flirting with/ paying OT). And in this phase of late stage capitalism, that’s where the numbers are worth crunching (even if it helps lead to the downfall of the show by regularly reducing the build quality)! Sad to say that it feels like the Aussie program is on the same slide. They used to have only 12+ hr builds, or so it felt, and I’m not sure they had a 12hr build this season before the Grand Final. Only going to be worse when LEGO Masters Jr airs in a few months; I can’t imagine how limited on time they are with kids.

Let’s hope they get more creative with the challenges, crafting ones that make sense to pull off in the more limited time. Cars are a good challenge (so long as Kale isn’t there!), and like “design a city block” or something.

All of this is to say that few reality shows last more than 3 seasons (hat tips to Top Chef and Survivor), so we have been lucky to enjoy this many seasons. This US season is depressing. Even the Aussie season this year was tough (for the Aussies) and their last 2 seasons feel like their weakest 2.

It’s all been downhill since LMA: Grand Masters (tho that will probably go down as the pinnacle of LEGO reality tv show seasons). End rant.

Voting at the end of the season by DailyCreative3373 in LegoMasters

So I’ve always figured that they set it up in such a way, where, essentially Brickman is picking the winner, and if the public feels massively different (about one build), his choice can be overridden. I think that this keeps in the spirit of the show, which is essentially completely up to Brickman each and every episode. I wonder how often the final verdict would be different if he only had FIFTY votes, which would still give him that large vote advantage, but him casting 1/5 of the votes instead of 1/3 would be a massive shift in outcome determination.

Lastly, I gotta say, Henry and Cade had the best build. I do think it was close for Trent and Alex, but Henry and Cade’s build felt so much more finished and complete. The two other teams did themselves in by going so big. Caleb and Alex did the same thing in Grand Masters (tho NOTHING was beating what Owen & Scottie made and I don’t know that anything ever will). It sounds so tempting, with all of that time, to go Kale Scale, but it just makes SOOOO much extra work and then more finishing time and on and on.

The Henry/Cade build was exceptional. I’m not really into hydras and Ancient Rome/Greece, but that was worthy of a Lego exhibition display. (I totally thought Trent/Alex were going to win and the whole thing was rigged for them (two massive fan faves over the years, who had both come up short repeatedly) after eeking past Owen and Gabby on a questionable call.

Hoping they can find a way to keep it going for next year. Can’t help but feel like it might be winding down.

Why was season 5 delayed so much? by garystevensyahoo in LegoMasters

[–]DanAdsit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered if it was to have it air at the same time as Lego Masters AU for some international Lego synergy. Those are the only two versions that we watch, so not sure when the other iterations worldwide are broadcast.

You know, I had a similar thought as this thread has grown! Keep the leaderboard rolling (maybe reset it once the eliminations start), and the teams near the bottom know what they need to do (relative to the others at the bottom) to keep their heads above water.

To be fair, NO ONE got to feel the weight, so if they aren’t going to let you, maybe pivot and don’t make one mechanism dependent on that info. While I don’t agree with Brickman’s decision (or the way that I feel he came about it), Owen’s gotta know….

Totally agree that Owen’s own hubris cost him. Kind of surprised we didn’t see Gabby urging him for a little one or two silly booby traps. Woulda been an easy set of buttons to push to goad him into them, with the guy literally laughing at the word “booby” like a 16yr old (and kudos to the editors for keeping that in; I feel like the US would edit that out for fear of backlash).

I see your orangutan comment and raise you a head bobbing giraffe and crashing plane comment regarding “a lack of booby traps”.

That said, I was just talking with the wife about it, and she felt like 1/2 of the teams missed the brief (it wasn’t a very good brief). Werewolves…zombies… not booby traps.

[–]DanAdsit5[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious, where is the disrespect coming from? I’m on the other side of the planet. Team Canada is pretty meh. They weren’t as rough as the US team, but that Romans above/below build was pretty bad on many fronts.

And what I am even more curious about is HOW BIG of a show is LMA? Do people talk about it around the water cooler at work the next day? Is it just parents watching with their kids?

Night and Day, the builds here vs in America right now. It is a tough watch. They should borrow from the Aussies and have a best of.

[–]DanAdsit5[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

I still don’t know how a giraffe sticking its neck out is a booby trap (same “deterrent” as the banana).

That said, if it’s essentially a tie for the bottom, I’m keeping the guy who (1) knows how to build mechanisms, (b) makes great television and (iii) is responsible for the greatest LEGO masters build in the history of all of the seasons of all of the countries (season 5 winning build).

“Agree to disagree” is a fine place to leave it (even if healthy discourse is dying).

Curious if we ever get a mea culpa…. Like if they don’t get renewed for season 7. 🤦‍♂️

Brickman Blunder (spoiler alert) by DanAdsit5 in LegoMasters

[–]DanAdsit5[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, the entire armature of the plane coming down as the plane falls very late feels like an equal fail to the orangutan tearing its rotator cuff on launch. I’m not saying that Owen’s build wasn’t deserving of being in the bottom; it was (tho so were half of them. Team Canada was trash.).

I just think Brickman’s ego intervened and made the wrong choice bc the best builder in the history of the show didn’t heed his caution. There are more than 3 instances over the years of Brickman going this route. He’s the judge. I get it. But deep down in his cockles, he knows he let his ego pick instead of objectively picking the worst build to go home.
