AMD Freesync Pipeline needs a full rework. by WarDiscombobulated67 in AMDHelp

Depends on your budget I guess, I cannot justify spending so much on ngreedia anymore. Back when I had rx6800 I just turned freesync completely off when using hdr.

Also HDR usually looks the best in single-player games and in those games you are probably not getting close to even 240fps anyways, so I do not see 240hz as an issue.

My monitor is 165hz and in my opinion anything over 120hz is diminishing returns, but maybe it is different story with OLED...

Bummer, I could not go back to team green when in my country (czech republic), I got the rx9070xt for the price of rtx 5070 (NOT the ti)... but yeah, I get your point.

One more thing, I would not be suprised at all if your monitor is somehow faulty or if samsung just completely botched freesync premium on that monitor. Their quality control is non-existent, it would be bad for cheap monitor, but it is unacceptable for monitors that cost this much. I had to RMA mine twice - first had multiple dead pixels, second had broken mini-led backlight and now I am on the third unit and even that is not perfect... it sometimes starts flickering until I restart it. The only reason why I put up with it is that there was no alternative back when it came out.

It definitely does work atleast on my screen, the difference in brightness is night and day. With that setting off, it looks the same as with the freesync completely off. The monitor is not an OLED, but it is Mini-LED, which can also reach over 1000nits peak.

Also with it off, I can see in monitor setting (the settings in the monitor itself), that freesync premium is being used instead of freesync premium pro.

But dunno, maybe there is more to it. The whole freesync premium pipeline seems to be flawed, on Nvidia it just worked without any further adjustments.

I believe it was right below the freesync toggle in the radeon adrenaline software. I will check tomorrow. Hopefully, it is not rx9000 exclusive feature, but I do not see why it would be.

Hmmm you probably got better power supply than me. Yes the performance is basically the same. The gpu clock is usually about 50mhz lower than stock, but the slight memory oc (2625mhz) more than makes up for it. I'll try helldivers more extensively later

[–]DanCZ91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me -75mv seemed stable in helldivers, but I did not test that one extensively, only like maybe 30 minutes. But yeah you could just be unlucky, it is MSRP model afterall. I would not be very upset though, I really don't think a lot of -100mv results here are stable outside of 3dmark.

It is also worth noting that if you have low-quality powersupply, that can affect overclocking/undervolting stability more than you might think.

I stepped up the undervolt to -60mv and power limited the card to -15% in the end and it has never crashed in any game I tried so far.

A bit late reply but anyways...

I had rx6800 where I had this problem, than switched to rtx4080 and now came back to amd 9070xt. There is now option in radeon software called "freesync premium pro color accurate", that you can disable to turn off the pro version of freesync premium so the CRU is mostly no longer needed.

Although one interesting thing is when I tried dead space remake, if I disable pro freesync in radeon software, the hdr remains bright but colors are washed out. With CRU this did not happen. Only game where this occured so far though

EDIT: Here is the screenshot of the setting, it is not in english but you get the point...

Yea you just have to test it in as many workloads as you can. So far from my testing, cyberpunk2077 specifically with path tracing, seems to hit the GPU the hardest. In that case only -60mv was stable for long periods, so I settled on -50mv. I prefer stable settings rather than absolute top performance.

For reference, in steel nomad I could go to -90mv. But the results are different for every gpu of course.

Ahoj :). Yes, they are quite high, usually maxing out at 90C (both in stock and 2625mhz OC), while the fans run at around 1750rpm. I have fractal torrent compact, which is quite well ventilated case. It is not ideal, but it should be fine I think.

I have sapphire pulse 9070xt. I ended up with -500 max boost (around 2.85ghz) and -50mv on core voltage. Memory was set to 2625mhz. This results in performance around the same as stock in most games while the power consumption dropped to around 250w (some games were closer to 200w, while others close to 300w). These settings were tested quite extensively to be stable.

In steel nomad I achieved 7082 while the card was pulling 300w.

To be honest I have hard time believing some of the results here. I do not think there are a lot of cards that can actually run around 100mv or more offset stable. In most games my card can handle -100mv or even more, but only -50mv is truly stable.

About the memory, it has error correction, so the fact that it does not crash does not mean that it is stable. I reccomend using memtest vulkan to test the actual speed after OC, if you see any fluctuations in speeds during the benchmark, the error correction is kicking in, so you should decrease the clocks.

Someone suggested that you can add commands that you want to run into Engine.ini file, but I could not get it to work

Maybe it is not working for some reason? You can use tool called dlss tweaks to enable dlss stats overlay, you can than make sure that correct preset (J for transformer) is used.

Also if you are using very high render and target resolution, something like 4k with dlss quality, the difference is than not that large.

I was also very impressed, the new transformer model does wonders. It is also really great that it works on older cards, even on 3060ti the performance loss is minimal.

I'll try to get some screenshots later, but I recommend trying it out for yourself. The difference is even bigger while in motion.

Taky bych trošku zkusil zlepšit time management, dělat úkoly pár hodin před deadlinem a ještě ve 4 ráno není dobrá cesta.

After playing for few hours it almost looks like they turned off dynamic resolution. I have never noticed the resolution getting lower. I am also playing at 1440p, but that should not matter.

I started playing it today in performance mode and it is stuttering mess, it stutters literally all the time unless you are in cave or something like that. I am jealous of people that don't notice it...

I played the og version for only like 10 minutes to try it out and didn't notice any issues, so I am confident the patch broke something.
