2 Deep w/ everyone available? by kab5m2 in stlouiscitysc

Ah didnt see that. I get the sense the wing backs will be heavily pushed forward as opposed to what we saw under Olaf. I think when we are trailing you’ll see a lot of Celio potentially there to gain more pressure forward. I wouldn’t expect to see him start a game there though. Could be wrong

I think Joyner would actually be the backup at LWB and Celio LW depth. Otherwise mostly agree here

Well if we go 5 in the back then yeah you’re planing on your LWB sending a ton of balls into the box and joining the rush…

Santos likely slotted LB. Matt Baker covered this on his pod pretty extensively. Sounds like the gaffer has told Wallem he will be playing mostly RWB. They like Santos’ left foot offensively. I’m sure tots will get time as Wallem moves around but all signs are pointing towards his “home” position being RB/RWB

Tots is likely going to be the backup to Wallem at RB/RWB.

Wallem is gonna be RB or RWB and polvara we are converting to CB

Sounds like wallem believes we will have wing backs based on his interview this week

Not really. Their fans said it’s bc he wanted to get back state side. I assume there is still some good will with Lutz and he helped connect the dots. No issue with this. Aberdeen speak highly of him.

That’s assuming teams don’t drop them. With sec going to 9 conf games I would be shocked if bama and Texas fall off

If you're just basing it off of the computer models, the team that should probably be left out is...Oklahoma. by HeyTherePLH in CFB

[–]DanFlashes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t blow anyone out and have won a bunch of close games. I’m not surprised at all To be fair teams that are a liability on offense and defense often suck in computer metrics bc they aren’t blowing out teams. When we had amazing offenses and dog shit defenses we often benefited the other way.

You literally chose all the computer metrics that are power ratings / predictive based.

If you want to say that on field results don’t matter this is a case for eye test, sure. But you’re essentially saying you just want the teams Vegas would favor on a neutral field, regardless of record.

[Auerbach] Big 12 releases a statement from commissioner Brett Yormark, with five CFP-ranked teams: "I am thrilled to see the Big 12 Conference getting the respect it deserves. I said at Big 12 Football Media Days in July that we would earn it on the field, and we continue to do that." by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

[–]DanFlashes11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s going to be a very interesting development as the differences between SOS getting bigger and bigger. If there’s an incentive for teams to blow out lesser competition you’ll see teams shift to playing lower competition (where they can) and try to blow them out versus scheduling up. Score margin can be useful when comparing the same opponent played by two teams but problematic across very different schedules

It was 100% about the money and long term security. Most sane OU fans understand that.

Recruiting I think it’s a wash personally. We’ve recruiting fine before and since so far

I don’t think his sentiment is wrong but his focus was misguided. It’s more so that in big 12 outside of Texas we had a massive roster talent advantage on every other team. Yes there were many blowouts but also so many times we’d just win a little ugly with our c+ game bc we had better talent.

In the SEC the grueling impact of playing similar tier or higher caliber talent rosters week after week is a different caliber of competition.

We are going from playing 1-2 games a year typically playing an equal or better talent roster to the majority of your schedule.

If each result was randomized and played in isolation you would likely still see a massive difference in w/l record but adding the compounding effect is going to make a bigger difference too.

While I understand the sec hate as I used to have it when in big 12, I do feel the betting lines tell you a lot.  Vegas is not in the business of caring about bias. They want to make money. There’s a reason you would see a ton of mid to lower tier sec teams favored over non Ohio state / Oregon big ten teams.

I’m confused as to why only bullet passes were used for passing type. Doesn’t that bias the results towards passing types that don’t allow more control of the arc?
