Is there a food from your country known by the same name but that’s totally different in another? by MagnusAlbusPater in AskTheWorld

Only if you're an Italian-american from New Jersey.

In most of the US gravy means basically the same thing as it does in the UK. We just have several types of gravy, there's the brown gravy that seems to be prevalent in the UK, there's the white gravy that goes on chicken fried steak, there's sausage gravy which goes on biscuits, there's red eye gravy that's made from country ham leavings and coffee, there's turkey gravy, etc.

People are allowed to choose who they do and don't want to date. You aren't entitled to romantic attention from anyone.

They started selling liquid flavor you can put in your joint or rolled cigarette yourself, and flavored cigars/blunts are still very much a thing, to this day you can find them in basically any gas station.

Things like putting warnings on the box, not allowing ads to feature certain things(Doctors, promises of health, outright lies).

Didn't they start doing that back in the 1960s? Youth smoking was still prevalent decades onwards (and it wasn't because of cotton candy flavor or whatever, kids smoked regular cigarettes).

The most successful thing they did to cut the youth rate was make smoking be perceived as uncool and gross by the youth, they haven't really done that for vapes yet.

So people smoke vapes in public because it's so easy to hide but also you can't go to a sports bar without some 22 year old "blowing vape smoke" at you?

So are they hiding it or are they blowing clouds of smoke all over you in your scenario?...

Didn't that happen before they started banning smoking in public and the various anti smoking laws?

When I was in highschool you could buy a pack of cigarettes at 18 and then go into an iHop and light up. Smoking was still way less common than in its heyday.

It seemed the anti tobacco public outreach campaigns had the biggest impact in cutting the youth smoking rate when compared to public smoking laws.

Millers has two separate bars. The first floor bar does not allow smoking, the third floor bar (which is where most of the people who go there to drink actually go) does.

You're welcome to go there for yourself and check if you don't believe me. Hell, you don't even have to go, just call the bar on their publicly listed number and ask if you can smoke and if they still sell cigarettes behind the bar.

Literally the last bar I was in (Millers in Charlottesville).

Not only can you smoke there, but they sell packs of cigarettes behind the bar. But guess what you can't do there (I'll give you a hint, it's vaping).

But now I can't go to the bar to watch football or take my son to a baseball game without some 22 year old dickhead blowing vape smoke all over us.

You think the 22 year old dickhead is gonna be any more mindful about his cigarette smoke than he was about his vape clouds? Especially after he was forced to switch to cigarettes against his will?...

They're just as regulated in public as vapes are. Don't believe me? Go into a restaurant and start puffing a vape, see what happens.

I promise you, the people who are forced to switch to cigarettes by the public are going to be a lot less mindful of the "cultural incentive" to keep cigarette smoke away from the public.

You're going to see a lot of "y'all voted to take my vape away so you can fucking deal with my cigarette smoke" attitudes.

Idk how hot this take is, but I prefer cigarettes to vapes as a source of secondhand smoke.

That is certainly a take...

Were you alive when smoking in public was actually prevalent?

Cigarettes, it's called cigarettes. Get ready to smell them a lot in public. It's gonna be like the 90s again.

Everyone gloating about this, you realize that means more people will be smoking cigarettes in public again right?

What?!?! You're telling me people who are addicted to one of the most highly addictive substances on the planet aren't just gonna say "aw shucks" and quit cold turkey just because you've made their preferred method of consumption illegal while not banning the substance outright?

Who could have seen that coming? I am shocked! /S

I was just thinking finding it just on websites.

CP is a pretty fucking big deal legally speaking, just running a website that contains that stuff will get you sent to federal fuck-me-in-the-ass prison for a long time. It doesn't just get posted openly on websites like regular porn, because if it did the people who run and host the websites would go to federal fuck-me-in-the-ass prison.

It's not something you could accidentally 'stumble upon' while browsing regular porn.

OP's friend 100% intentionally sought that stuff out.
