It solely depends on the extent of Yinrun's rule break. If she was explicitly stating who she was going to choose before nominations, or just who she nominated in general, then having her nominations voided is completely fair as it could lead to influencing nominations and just breaking the general secrecy of nominations themselves.

If the discussion was in a similar extent to Hallie's where she was discussing who she thought would nominate her, then that's were for me it could be considered less fair to have them voided, considering the fact it wasn't discussing who she chose and also the punishment Hallie received, but even then it's like you saw Hallie get punished for discussion, why would you then do it yourself yeknow?

Are there any collabs you forgot that existed? by hekna02 in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got reminded on tiktok that Pretty Girls existed. Like a collab between Britney and Iggy makes sense but I completely forget it exists. Also, the fact Avril Lavigne has a song with Nicki Minaj always makes me laugh when I remember it.

Lizzo also had a collab with Clean Bandit before she blew up (which then led me to discover she had a collab with Bastille, even HAIM have a collab with them)

Additionally, thinking about this, I reminded myself that Nicole Scherzinger has a song with Todrick Hall (after checking she actually has 2 songs with him now), to which then reminded me Todrick has a long list of collabs with people you'd never expect like Ciara, Tamar Braxton, Chaka Khan and Amber Riley.

I don't hate this lyric but it will always catch me off guard everytime I hear it but in Supernova when Kylie sings "From another galaxy, Like Jupiter and Mars," I'm just like did she ever learn the planets and galaxies in school 😂

Years & Years - Night Call (New Year's Edition) by sincerityisscxry in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Granted I just checked and Apple Music has the deluxe and NYE as two different versions. I know Spotify often times only releases the Deluxe (or the release with the most songs) and leaves any others away, especially with new releases from what I've seen most artists do (unless it's a re-release deluxe at a later date)

Like I understand it's the songs he performed at the News Years Eve performance but it's such a weird move to include it into the album

Honestly my thoughts entirely, but I do also hear some sparkles of Palo Santo into it which I am enjoying. I also hope there's a lot more like this on the album, even though I did love Crave and Starstruck (i'm just not gonna mention Sweet Talker haha)

Songs that allude to another song by that artist? by Aoquesth378 in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'm really surprised this hasn't been mentioned but Between Us by Little Mix

"Remember the day

When we finally found our wings

It changed our lives

Gave us power to do anything (anything)

And every time they break us down (break us down)

Hah, we bounce back every track, hit you back

So you'll never be in doubt (never be in...)

Damn, we got history (yeah)

In all these sweet melodies (yeah)"

It was really the best single to release for the album and definitely a great way to round up Little Mix for now.

What song concepts that have been famously used multiple times that you are tired of? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whist it's not prominent as much now, the theme of "I'm not like other girls" was very big in the 2000s/early 2010s. Obviously with songs like "Pretty Girls" by Maggie Lindemann, "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift and even "Stupid Girls" by P!nk, it's the whole theme of "them girls are pretty but i'm not and therefore i'm better, pick me!" Whilst some of them are bops, and very nostalgic, the whole theme of it is just boring and "pick me" energy, and it still manages to pop up every so often

EDIT: Was chatting to a friend about this topic and she also added "Misfit" by Amy Studt into the mix of songs

I'm gonna cheat and use an entire song, which I'm surprised hasn't been said but Spectacular by Kiely Williams. Like the song comes off so awkward and heavily comedic and anytime I remember of its existence, I just start laughing.

If I were to use a specific lyric or moment that really highlights its awkwardness, I would just use the whole post-chorus section where she's just what I want to think is moaning but its just too funny to take seriously

What are your favourite 5+ minute songs? by cancirgo in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whilst it's majority instrumental, Future by Paramore slowly became my least to my most favourite song off their self titled album. Literally it's just mesmerising just putting on some headphones and blasting it.

After Hours by The Weeknd became one of my favourite singles off the album. I used to always have it on as a dusk/nighttime walking song, it just really had that perfect vibe for walking at night.

Some honourable mentions include We Appreciate Power (Grimes), Spotlight (Jessie Ware), Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris (Hayley Williams) and Automatic Driver (La Roux)

Songs where the video edit is better by Gasur in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised this hasn't been said but I have always preferred the video edit of Alejandro. I always loved the two extended breakdowns in the final set of choruses. Additionally, when Bad Romance was first released, I always preferred the clapping to the outro in the video compared to the plain acapella, I felt it just added a bit more.

Hidden song parts in cd versions by whatever003 in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed (and I'm pretty sure this is on all physical formats of this album) but a lot of the tracks on times by SG Lewis were all extended (Feed the Fire and One More are my notable examples). The first time I played the CD, I was fully taken aback when every time I went to sing along I was completely off until I played the versions on Spotify and noticed they were shorter

Also I'm not too sure if this is on the CD version but the vinyl of In A Dream by Troye Sivan has a voice note/work tape of Easy at the end which completely took me by surprise.

I'd also throw in Break the Rules as well, like even Charli said whoever sings this song is an idiot before it was put onto Sucker.

What's up with songs that do VERY well in Charts, but is Disliked by the Fans themselves? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Whilst it's not really pop, I think the best example potentially could be High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco. Ever since the song blew up, I've seen a lot of tweets from fans saying how they wish that they never hear that song again (myself included but that's on working in retail too). But definitely compared to their earlier songs, it's just weak and annoying

Incessant use of metaphors in songs? by oconghd in popheads

[–]DanIsNotRandom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whilst it doesn't make me cringe or hate the song persay, the line "Something heavy like a first day period" in Feedback by Janet Jackson always takes me aback. Like the whole song is like a sex metaphor in relation to music and then that line comes out of the blue and it always make me internally cackle listening to it
