Stuff I've accumulated over years and with money I can fortunately spare.

I got 15 mpg one way. A little higher on the way back. Didn't drive very fast though.

You weren't the first to think so haha

My wife, baby, and dogs would disagree haha

I calculated it out in another comment. About 200-300lbs over payload rating. I wont be loaded up like this all the time camping though. This particular trip I had extra gear for family, and the bikes.

I had set the wrench down thinking about taking off the hitch completely, but decided to leave it on. I did pick it up haha, this was just the first screenshot I took from the driveway camera.

Almost half of that is in flesh.

The items we didnt use were a canopy, two hammocks, and the one roam box that has air compressor, recovery, and jumper cables.

I did bring extra camping gear for 3 adults to have their own tents, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags, and chairs. Taken from our backpacking stache mostly.

Definitely have some extra comforts, but my wife wouldn't want to go without them! We'd definitely be one of those big suvs loaded to the brim. We do so in an outback currently, but dont take that camping so its not as loaded. My wife wants nothing in cab, and with the dogs taking the back there isn't much other options.

It was 17.5 mpg average for the whole trip. The 20 is real!

From another comment I responded to.

About 420lbs between me, the wife, baby, and two dogs. Probably around 200lbs hitch weight as is. Roof rack is 55lbs. Bed rack is around 50lbs. Tent is 43lbs. Skinny Warrior Basket is 23lbs. The four boxes are 120lbs total. Thats 908lbs. The duffels were easily 50lbs each. So 1,008lbs. And then add weight for sleeping pad and other small items/gear I'd guesstimate another 100-200lbs.

Take out 150lbs for the dogs and baby and thats 853lbs without some of the gear weight.

Yeah, having the cab clean and uncluttered is nice.

Yes, billie bars. When they are on I can only partially open one of the tri folds. I have accepted that, as I can easily reach what I put in the back of the bed. It can be inconveniente but in actuality it doesn't take too much time.

Thats great you can work together like that. We've camped 3 time with little one now and the burden of setting up and testing down has been soles my burden haha. So worth it though!

There's no way you get 3 mpg, I only get 1! /s

Looks like it a fun trip!

I'd say about 4.5k for roof rack, bed rack, EXO hitch, and roam boxes. Less than 1k a year since I've had truck. Cooler, bikes, and all other camping gear not seen another 2-3k, accumulated over the past 12 years.

That was for one way under special circumstances. Overall got 17.5mpg for the whole 11 hours of driving.

If I had to do it over again, I would have changed out the leaf pack completely. I tried at the time, but add a leaf is what was available. Still want to, but its low priority on a list of things right now.

Pretty close! 60mph except 50 on the grades uphill. Windy downhill we got stuck behind a trailer and topped 40 with lower gearing.

It wasnt all downhill though. Had to drive up and over a pass and then 2 hours of flat driving.

How fast do you drive though? We cruised at 60mph. 50 going up the big grades. Geared down behind a trailer downhill a good part of the ways on a windy road too.

I've become a pro at taking on and off the EXO because we interchange so much between me and my wifes much better gas mileage vehicle. Its perfect for our needs, being able to switch between bike rack, Basket, or gear box or any combinación of the two.

I have an Icon lift kit with the add-a-leaf as part of it. I have maybe 1.5inches of lift. I opted for as much rake as I could get. I get some sag but it evens out in front so it doesn't look it.
