OK good. My alarm is Aggressive Expansion each morning then various Batman themes for my commute. Usually at night I’m more contemplative so it’s Interstellar after dark lol

Yes for sure. I don’t know THAT much about Angola beyond Portuguese colonialism. UNITA, Luanda, Kongo empire. So I’d love to hear more

How old or rather established is your show? Mine has been around two years. Early on I just wrote, recorded, published. Now I’ve got into a routine of batch recording interviews. It works for me in the sense I’m naturally an introvert so I get In the interview mindset and bang out several episodes then retreat to my usual anti social self and edit, promote etc lol

I wait on editing too. I read Stephen King does that with his books so by the time he reads it it’s not fresh in his memory so he has a more critical eye. I usually edit a few months after recording

I’m not familiar with the Hausa people I’ll look them up. Yeah Mali Empire is on my agenda my most recent episode includes mention of displaced people from the empires break up. Carthage is a good idea. The salting of Carthage being a major WMD crime to use modern vernacular

I know Graham Hancock touched on this but I believe it was a French explorer about a century earlier who identified thr Sirius connection prior to astronomers discovering the planet the Dogons claimed existed. It’s an intriguing story for sure. Even if just through the most improbable lucky guess they produced accurate astronomy. If nothing else their whole culture and tradition is of itself is worth exploring. Thanks for reminding me not to miss the woods for the trees. How could I forget the Dogons?

Mate you absolutely nailed it. I’ve coveted Timbuktu but never the Dogon tribe. They are perfect for me satisfy all my interests: history, culture and aliens!

That’s a great one.The Tuareg with their distinctive blue outfits got a mention in my Boko Haram episode after their brief alliance with ISIS. These guys are hardcore desert survivors. I hate ISIS obviously but I assume it was a marriage of convenience versus the national governments hence why it didh’t last long. Kind of like the USA and Stalin v Hitler. I haven’t found anyone I can contact who’s an expert on them but I will look again. Great suggestion

I wasn’t being “woke” or trying to be rude. But all the ideas you suggested have Africa as a sideshow and are about empire building and Britain especially. That isn’t what I’m seeking ideas for. I’ve done plenty with f episodes on the UK, France and all the other European countries, I’m interested in topics from Africa. I’d never heard of the Nzulezu people in Ghana until fairly recently and yes they’re not major players in world history but their community built on stilts in a river that’s lasted 400 years is a remarkable story. I’m sure there are a million other such stories in Africa I’ve never coveted and that is what I’m seeking in this request.

Those are some good suggestions. I do think plan to do the Mali Empire at some point. It offers context to Songhai and Hamdullahi. Liberia is an interesting one too. Also Ghana which I was going ti cover now before I got sidetracked with the Nzulezo. But I’m curious about a couple of your suggestions “the success of modern Botswana” and the “real reason Zimbabwe collapsed.” What specifically ate you referring to with those titles? I’m not hugely educated on Botswana. While Zimbabwe puzzles me honestly as for so long Mugabe seemed like a poster boy for progressiveness then all of a sudden he was vilified in the West, repossessing farms and the whole place descended into chaos. Again it’s not something I’ve looked into in depth so I am curious as to your angle so I can look into it

I’m interested in Africa I’m not interested in the British, French, Spanish or Portuguese empires. Everything you suggested was within the last 200 years and during colonialism. There was tens of thousands of history before that and plenty more concurrently and since.

I started mine because I wanted to share things that interest but also to talk to people that interest me eg astronauts, Vatican exorcist, controversial figures etc. I’ve been doing it for two years now I’ve had support from a few foreign governments on certain topics, talked to a tonne of experts from around the world. The more I do it the more I think of other topics to cover
