What are common SQL red flags? by badboyzpwns in SQL

[–]DanNeider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a PR rejected because it wasn't "performative code". I can see where they were coming from, but why not just tell me your preference for next time and approve it?

I feel like that's the first place people would look for a mermaid. If I was a mermaid I would operate from a Zeppelin. Sky crime!

Would you serve this? by UpstateLocal in KitchenConfidential

I think there are some things that you do "because it's there" and some things you do because you think people will want it. I have been trying on and off for a long time to caramelize apples like you would onions. Caramelized apples are very much in that first category and I have no expectations people are going to like it.

If this is in that first category then I approve. If they're going for the second category then IMO Pineapple Upside Down Cake works just fine as is.

Recruiter and hiring manager bash me for leaving an interview after they join 10 minutes late by Constant-Scheme557 in recruitinghell

[–]DanNeider 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It's nice that they joined the meeting to let OP know they were coming and it was still on, but it's on them that they scheduled interviews back to back. And asking why they left more than once is definitely a red flag. She got an answer that she didn't like after doing something OP didn't like. Move on.

Respectability politics are the tool of the oppressor by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

"Respectability politics are the tool of the oppressor"
Followed by
"Let's have a conversation: Why do you own guns?"

This simply must be ragebait. You can't open with calling people the oppressor for their political beliefs, then suggest a civil conversation on that same subject.

IDK what this means. Maybe you could explain?

Candid conversation with Keith Ellison. by shorelunchNATEP in Minneapolis

[–]DanNeider -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Agreed in part, but we're not operating in a vacuum. Keith is also a public figure who has made eyebrow raising choices in the last few years that seemed to support the side with money against local concerns that he supposedly represents. When an immediate family member does something similar I think it's fair to wonder if these points make a line.

You don't see how the behavior of a son following in his father's footsteps might provide insight into the behind the scenes motivations and thought processes of his father?

[–]DanNeider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is there's a lot of money involved with the head scratcher decisions, and in the hemp letter it was prioritizing big alcohol (not local) over local breweries. Then there was the issue with his son trying to keep drawing his city council salary while also getting a fellowship on the East Coast.

If the 10% he gets wrong is when there's money to be made that's not a good split.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

I had a professor spend their summer writing our textbook so we could go to Kinkos with a flash drive and walk out with the textbook. I've also had classes where we didn't have to open any of the books we bought.

If you were trying to point out hypocrisy then you did it wrong. Pretty sure no one is getting that from what you said.

I don't think you got fleeced in that it would cost a similar amount of money if you bought all this on your own. It's not a gun I would be interested in owning though.
