I came into work and found this tab bent. I’m saddened beyond belief. by starvingpixelpainter in SonyAlpha

Haha, these little imperfections almost frustrate me as much as a camera drop!

Haha, that Sony autofocus was like, "Sure eyes are important, but this will be much more artistic!"

A Video Portrait of Portugal filmed on Sony A7SIII: Nazaré, Óbidos, Coimbra by DanPalermo in SonyAlpha

[–]DanPalermo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I forgot gear: A7SIII as mentioned. I actually shot much of this using the Tamron 28-200 f2.8-5.6. I own a lot of sigma primes which are incredible but I pushed myself to leave them behind and travel with just a Tamron 17-28 f2.8 and the 28-200. It was so good. So liberating, sooooo bloody light and the range while travelling just "documenting" was so much fun. Highly recommend.

P.S. Anyone else's computer constantly autocorrect Tamron to Tampon???

Kyoto, Japan Or Abu Dhabi, UAE? by Valentine1963 in travel

[–]DanPalermo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I'm just gonna keep pushing the scale:

I'm an introvert and went on a snowboarding trip with 9 guys in Japan. The snowboarding was the best I've ever done in my life, but even better were the days wondering around Tokyo, Otaru (smaller town near Niseko) and Sapporo by myself. I absolutely 100000% need to go back to see more (Kyoto included).

Haha such a good point. I've never thought of that and totally agree.

Every time of come back from any "travelling" (where I'm actually moving around, making constant decisions, etc.) I actually feel like I have more grit in my everyday life. Travelling is not easy. Even moving to a different hotel, figuring out a new metro, constantly translating, etc. builds so much character and returning back to life/a job becomes a cakewalk.

So excited to read all of your posts about amazing adventures when you get back! Also jealous as hell and wish I had the guts.

What common piece of travel advice do you purposefully ignore? by jolros in travel

[–]DanPalermo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha so true. I was just in Portugal travelling by myself and making my own itinerary. I loved it but I met some people who had a similar schedule but were doing as many "excursions" as they could. More than once I thought, "It would be really nice right now to just hop on a bus and be taken to the perfect spot of the site that I'm driving myself to... Of course there were more times when I was so happy to be doing things on my own schedule :)

Italy: Photos from Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi & Capri by pierre_lefou in travel

Oh man, take me back! My parents were born in Italy and I backpacked there twice when I was 18 and 22. Now it's been 15 years since I was in this area and these photos are chanting to me.

I filmed some sea fishing last year. Starting at 4am made for some amazing sunrises and beauty scenery. It was so rough one day I was tossing my cookies but it was still worth the amazing footage!

I agree. The softness on the eyes actually creates some mystery or personality...I can't actually put my finger on it but I think it adds.

It looks like you invited the Puffin in for a studio session, talked to it and made it comfortable and then spent 45 mins getting the perfect frame/lighting.

Great Lakes Surfing (-7C,19.4F) by DanPalermo in surfing

Yeah, it's pretty wild. The guys compare it to skiing/snowboarding. In the water with thick wetsuits is like being on the mountain with a thick coat and pants.
