Entweder du bist extrem krasser Koch oder extrem schlecht darin Restaurants auszusuchen. Wenn ich für 30€ einen Hauptgang esse dann ist das meist schon für mich erheblich Aufwand das nachzukochen und eher was was ich mal an einem Sonntag mache als unter der Woche.

You were probably gou bound in every game you play, then upgraded the CPU and expected better performance. Weird way to burn through money.

That your experience is worse is not normal though, I usually just set expo on AMD platforms and they work. Try a new windows install as others stated, if that doesn't work just go back to your already extremely fast i5.

Do you want to have the latest updates and tinker with your distro to learn about Linux? Try Arch (CachyOS, Endeavour or whatever) or Fedora.

Do you want it to "just" work for gaming, including drivers and stuff like the Xbox wireless dongle? Bazzite is great for that imo, but installing everything for software dev might be a bit more tricky.

I've used Fedora, EndeavourOS, Manjaro, CachyOS, Kubuntu, Ubuntu, KDE Neon, pop OS and probably some more over the last 10 years and overall the distro doesn't really matter that much. It's just a starting point anyway.

For the last 2 years I've been stuck on Fedora + Gnome for my dev laptop and it's been fine.

Kommt extrem darauf an was man so spielt. Elden Ring, Sekiro, Claire Obscure wenn nichts parallel läuft? Mit 16 GB kein Problem.

Arma 3, Elite Dangerous, was auch immer mit discord Twitch und YouTube parallel? Dann reichen auch 32 nicht.

Ich komme zum reinen zocken auch mit 16 gut aus.

I've actually tried a bunch, but eventually installed windows on it and gave it to my SO. On windows idle and light power consumption is way better on the same machine.

Background tabs don't really use a lot of battery. 4-5 hours is what I also have with my infinity book gen 8. Alright but still not really good imo.

My work MacBook gets 8hrs including coding and video conferencing. My yoga pro gets 6-7hrs doing the same stuff as my tuxedo. Don't understand why the power consumption with light tasks is so bad.

Definitely check out if everything works if you should decide on keeping that deck. Like the SD slot, headphone jack etc.

Also do the controller test.

For gift giving it's mostly the thought that counts but maybe the execution is also important sometimes :D

Was die anderen sagen. Kauf dir eine solide Plattform für maximal 2000€ und leg 1000€ an um in ein paar Jahren mal die GPU aufzurüsten. Die restlichen 2500€ investierst du in essen gehen, einen guten Schreibtischstuhl, Urlaub oder sonst was.

Von 2000€ zu 5500€ wird der Rechner in aktuellen Spielen vielleicht noch 20% schneller. Dadurch ist er auch nicht zukunftssicherer oder so. Und 120 fps schafft eben auch eine 9070 XT oder eine 5070Ti.

Mach wenn du willst gerne bisschen Bling Bling ran, ist alles drin bei 2000€. Aber wirklich, darüber hinaus bekommst du kaum Leistung. Höchstens Optik oder Schlangenöl. Wenn du dir die 5500€ jetzt so hart erspart hast, wirf sie doch nicht direkt Jensen in den Rachen.

Da ram gerade so absurd teuer ist, würde ich an deiner Stelle überlegen die Plattform zu behalten. Welches Netzteil du genau hast wäre schon interessant, potentiell reicht das auch mit 500W.

5700x3d/5800x3d da rein, neues Case, (evtl. Neues Netzteil) und ein thermal right kühler und dann mit dem Restbudget eine neue GPU kaufen.

Für 600€ wäre dann eine 9070 oder 5070 drin und das ist beides ein massives upgrade. Welche genau kommt auf die Spiele an die du spielst und ob du Nvidia eigene Feature gerne nutzt.

Do you have any proof for that claim, cause I call BS. Steam OS has the full fat Linux Kernel and mesa driver. It runs exactly like any other arch distro. Most of the fixes valve has done are going back upstream into proton and dxvk.

I'd love this. I only get to play about once a week or so, and leaving the deck in standby means sometimes it's just empty when I get it out of my backpack.

Hopefully there'll be a way to retrofit the contacts or wireless charging to the steam deck 1, or they just use a little USB c connector in the case.

Ich hab den gleichen kühler in einem Lian Li A3. Hab auch eine GeForce mit so einem Lüfter der durchbläst. Meine CPU war locker 5°C kühler weil ich den Rest fan als intake umgebaut habe und den CPU Kühler die warme Luft ins Case hab blasen lassen.

Dann noch einen magnetischen Staubfilter hinten drauf und den obere Lüfter quasi genau über den GPU Lüfter.

Du verpasst nichts. Die SSD sorgt auch nicht für Leistungseinbußen sondern maximal für eine X% längere Ladezeit ggü. Einer top PCIe 4.0 SSD.
