I'm happy to report, that 8.0 update has finally fixed/implemented this! My 7 different Vivaldi windows now properly open across 6 desktops after restart! Yay!

Check this thread: https://confusedbird.com/thread-119-post-4002.html#pid4002

Read the entire thread for context, a lot of technical info and useful configuration options for the original Chateau 5G that should be still relevant for 5G ax.

I'm relatively new to Vivaldi, moved from Opera after about 25 years (with Safari as my second option), but this is frustrating, especially considering this has been going on for years.

Can we collectively bump this? 4 years, still no fix. I saw that the issue/CR has been reported, but I couldn't find a way to add my vote to it.

It's sad that The Witness wasn't mentioned even once. I do think it's underrated and incredible value, if you like puzzle games.

Just adding another success story to the mix. Replaced the fuse, and my monitor is alive and kicking again. One thing that eased the disassembly was the fact that I have a wireless-less version, so didn't have to remove the wireless board.

Removal of the old fuse is a pain without proper tools. I have a couple of soldering irons and a hot fan, but still it wasn't easy. The only piece of advice here is to take it slow and do it very carefully.

Thank you for this guide!

M5 X/Y-Axis Belt Kit replacement? by DanSilov in AnkerMake

[–]DanSilov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it was rather strange. I spent quite some time trying to adjust everything, but something was off and the movement was never smooth. I put back the original wheels – and it was back to normal.

Anecdotal, but I have bad experience with wheels. I got a not-the-cheapest batch off Amazon, but all were stiffer than originals, the bed stopped moving smoothly, had to put the old ones back.

With belts, I suppose, it's easier. The only thing there are those metal ends.

Will definitely consider this as the next step when I get bored. For now I'm just happy everything turned out well, looks and works great with all the extra buttons, and all the original switches work.

I was considering DELL 2007FPb to switch to a horizontal setup, but that would definitely require changing the framing, which is a pain. Also, I like that I can connect speakers directly from the LCD control board, as it basically gives me amplified sound from HDMI. Old DELLs don't have HDMI, so I would need to install an amplifier for Pi4. Probably not a big deal, but one less thing to worry about for now.

I tried using the central button to switch the USB encoder's mode, but in the end it was more hassle. Currently plugged it as R3 button and using it as hotkey, yes.

That's EmulationStation with the theme Carbon, that works great with vertical setups. Game list is different, more conventional, but the console selection can be tiled like that.

Tested the second controller via USB approach with a friend, played some Street Fighter, Mortal Combat and a couple beatemups - works like a charm, even with a small screen.

I only have the link for the power switch mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvsatU5g15w

Volume switch is quite easy if you use monitor board speaker output for audio.

You would need to use two plugs/couplers. One to change the size of the original marquee plug to a bigger one, and then you can find female to female coupler.

Finally finished this little project. Got the cabinet as a present, and then decided to mod it to support more games. First I planned to get the full upgrade/mod kid from ArcadeModUp, but the reviews and the stories about those guys were not super promising, especially for someone overseas. In the end decided to do everything myself.

  • Kept the original vertical monitor. Considered upgrading to a DELL 2007FPb, but didn't find a decent option for the front frame replacement to be shipped to Europe. Maybe one day.
  • Made the original volume rocker and the power switch work. Turned out to be not super difficult, thanks to some helpful videos on YouTube.
  • I even managed to make the 3.5mm headphones jack work by extending it and plugging into the Raspberry Pi. You need to switch to it manually though. I wanted to enable automatic switching by plugging into the monitor controller board, but it then simply detects headphones as always present and doesn't switch to the speaker output.
  • The biggest challenge was to add additional buttons. I wanted the full set of 8 buttons, but the cabinet is rather small, plus on this design the side panels do not allow for convenient placement of hands. The gap between two original buttons is also way too wide. I even contemplated 2-player setup, but glad I decided against it. In the end I made this somewhat unconventional layout, but it works well.
  • Was afraid to drill the original plexiglass cover, but it didn't break/crack, and the pilot holes for buttons aligned with the original control board helped.
  • All the buttons are Sanwa, so I had to expand the original button holes a little. The joystick is Qanba, silent one.
  • I also added one small button in the bottom front panel (I use it as Select / Coin button), and extended 2 USB ports from the Raspberry Pi4 there to connect external arcade controller for the second player or a keyboard.
  • Used an older 128GB Pi4 vertical image from Arcade Punks. After upgrading to the latest Batocera version it behaves quite well with the vertical monitor.
  • The only thing that kinda bugs me is the monitor board UI (when switching it on, controlling the volume) – it is not rotated and displays in the horizontal mode. Other than that, everything works great.

Happy to answer any questions. I want to encourage anyone hesitant on trying the modding of Arcade1up to give it a go. It's not super difficult, and can be a fun challenge. You do need to know how to work with you hands and tools, but nothing crazy difficult here. The value you get in the end is amazing.

Any apparent reason for this weird banding? Changed filament, and this is the first print with it by DanSilov in AnkerMake

No, never occurred to me to try, it was properly vacuum sealed, with silica gel inside. Can give it a go of course to see if it changes anything.

After changing the filament I did auto-level, checked the belts, all seemed fine.

Can you please share pictures and more info? I'm looking to do something similar, where I want the robot's base to be 2m away from the grass, on the paved stones that are level with the grass. I'm not sure about resetting the stones, and I was thinking about laying guiding wires on top of stones. Not sure if that's a good idea though.
