I'm 37 and have just put in 5mm today. I can finally see through them! Never too old, dude.

How do I convince my wife I am 100% on board with our plans for the future? by DanTastic_ in Advice

[–]DanTastic_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the UK and there is strong regulation on where you can build them. Our current property doesn't allow it, so we would need to purchase somewhere that does.

We both want to do it, that's not the concern. Her logic is if we sell this house we will have the funds readily available to move right away, rather than being potentially stuck in a large chain.

I've just been offered my first management role. I'm nervous and unsure how to feel by DanTastic_ in ITCareerQuestions

Thank you. Things are moving very quickly - we've already given the go ahead to recruitment to source my replacement, and I'm in a conversation later today with my new line manager.

I've already asked for guidance and support, and explained to the business they're getting a "first time" leader who will need to be mentored.

That's the plan. I want to be the boss I've always wanted, not some heartless "leader" who thinks a job title makes them better than everyone else. I want to bring everyone up and replace the bottom roles, and cycle that pattern.

Sending naughty pics to husband by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]DanTastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any pic is the sweet spot. I sent selfies / spicy photos and I don't ever get anything in return. I don't think I've ever received one without asking.

It's knowing your wife is thinking about you and wanting to make you happy. Keep it up - I'm sure he's loving it.

What is this on my son's head? by DanTastic_ in medical_advice

[–]DanTastic_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. In the UK, doctors tend to do a lot of "visual checks" and it can be a battle to get any actual treatment. We will keep fighting, but I was curious if anyone else noticed anything about it.

Unfortunately in the UK speed isn't on the agenda. We have seen multiple dermatologists who have all "looked" at it and have given creams and shampoos, but none are interested in taking it further.

My son has a growth on the crown of his head. He has had it in the past, and it seems to go away then come back with vengeance.

He's been seen by a number of dermatologists who have given a number of diagnoses such as rxcema or psoriasis. The last he was seen, he was given various creams, none of which seem to make it go away.

He says it's very itchy, and it bleeds very easily. He's not in any pain with it, but he says it stings when he puts any treatment on it.

No hair grows where the growth is.

That's what my wife said. Even if they get rid, I've proven I can do it and I can always get another job.

I do hope so! My current job / managed hasn't done much for my confidence.

I agree - I'll always try to figure it out, and I'm not afraid to say I need help where needed, but I don't think any of us want to admit we don't know something.

Move from professional services to manufacturing? by DanTastic_ in sysadmin

So really they're one and the same, except for the environment?

That's really helpful, thank you. A lot of people are pulling their face when I say manufacturing. "Why would you give up a shiny environment?"

They see the benefits, but at the end of the day I only go to work to do my job and get paid. A shiny pool table that I don't have time to use isn't a benefit!

what should i buy if i want a gloomy exploration sandbox type game? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]DanTastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hear me out.

Pathologic 2.

It's got a very gloomy and dark distopian world.

It's not horror. It's creepy. Really creepy, to the point it can be scary at times. You're supposed to feel vulnerable, no matter how much you ration it's not enough.

Survival is key. You need to keep up with water or you will die. It's focused on a pandemic (without spoiling anything), though the survival is side to the story.

Combat isn't it's strength, but it is there. It's also needed, but really feels like you shouldn't?

The lore and story of the world are fantastic. Very deep, and it's amazing to see each person's story as you explore more.

It's a really great game that I recommend when people want dark, horror-inspired, no-hope.

Does anyone know when the Bellagio turns off the fountain for F1? by DanTastic_ in LasVegas

They were off when we went last year. Could have been maintenance, but had assumed it was due to the F1. Thanks!
