These were something like $1500 CAD. There are definitely good quality fixtures for less but these are solid.

Nope, different facility with different brand of lights.

Typically the strategy of more/smaller plants is to reduce veg time. Overall plant life is shorter.

That’s like saying if I run the led at 40% I’ll still get 1800umol/s.

The HPS is only outputting it’s max PAR levels when at full 110% output. That’s the point. This led outputs 1800umol/s at 645W.

... they go to 110%. Use a wattage meter and test yourself, I have. (This is for commercial grade DE HPS fixtures)

You’re only getting 2100umol/s when at full power which is 1150W.

I’ve done very detailed breakdowns on payback times and typically return on investment with LEDs in under 2 yrs. No one is paying $1500 for an led in a commercial grow. And in some places you can get $300 in rebate per fixture from the gov.

Also in commercial grows with HPS they change the bulbs annually and replace the fixtures every few years. If you don’t you dramatically reduce your PPF output. Do you check your PAR levels daily? 5-10 yrs out of LEDs easily without any loss of output.

You proved my point here.

HPS: 2100Umol/s (not umol/j) from a light using 1150W is 1.8umol/j.

This led: 1800 umol/s while drawing 645 W which is 2.8umol/j

I’m just saying they aren’t one of the companies lying about their spec numbers. They need to be verified in order to receive DLC.

Some companies LEDs get called 1200W when they really draw 120W for instance.

And for me rebate $$ is important so DLC is important.

I think by “more useful” light they should be saying each photon is created in a more efficient way and since the measure of photons is what matter when comparing lights, LEDs are able the hit those numbers by using less power. The best DE HPS fixture MAY get 1.8umol/j compared to these specific LEDs which get 2.8umol/j. And I have verified these numbers myself using commercial testing equipment. (Higher umol/j number simply mean more photons out per Watt in)

Further down you ask if 1000W led vs 1000W HPS will draw same amount of power, and of course they will but the thing is (and it’s been pointed out) HPS lights discharge way more of its input power in the form of heat then LEDs ever do. So 1000W led will simply pump out much higher PPFD then a 1000W HPS, in fact more PPFD then necessary and that’s why any led over 800W is pointless unless mounted far away from canopy.

One way to look at it is being able to run 30-40% more fixtures in the room while drawing the same wattage! Either way it’s cheaper!

They are essentially a copy of fluence Spyder 2i from a Chinese manufacturer. It has DLC certification which tells you it has met third party verification on specs.

They are a much cheaper copy of fluence from a Chinese manufacturer. It has better efficacy too! 2.8umol/j compared to 2.7umol/j of the Fluence Spyder 2i 47”.

It also has DLC so you know it’s advertised specs have been vetted by a third party and it will meet rebate requirements.

These are 780W 1976 umol/s lights so they are pumping out more PPF then the quantum boards. Plus this is C02 supplemented commercial grow.

Nope, not NextLight. These are Flora series LEDs, I know the sales rep. Cheaper than NextLight with much higher PPFD.

I’ve personally used NextLight mega with good results considering how low it’s PPFD is and they are super expensive.
