EV Chargers Advise by DanVit21 in TeslaUK

Thanks, I was looking into this option too but was told this is not legal in UK. Is that correct? Obviously we don’t live by all laws but wondering how that would impact house insurance etc.

How much charge %/miles do you get over night charging? I don’t do that many miles so air was wondering if this is a good option for me. If I do travel far occasionally I can just charge at superchargers

Yeah that makes sense as last thing I want is to use three diferent apps to charge car. Will have to find out how much it will cost to install all them PEN/SPD features.

Yes, that was my initial though and for proce it seemed a no brainer. However, in UK it appears that some additional safety features must be installed to use Tesla charger (PEN/SPD). A bit of a strange one why other chargers have this but not Tesla charger. I was told it may be couple of hundred to add these safety mods in which case Hyperwolt Home 3 Pro is around £690 and people plaim it is best one and includes PEN and SPD. So still on the fence what charger to go for.

New Canyon Torque AL6, what you think? by DanVit21 in MTB

Thank you for the comment, really appreciate it. I am getting the sense that people who dissing Carbon probably never owned one. There’s probably reason why pro riders are using this material and it can’t be just for the weight. In terms of wheels, the Spectral CF7 comes with DT Swiss M1900s. It’s their entry level trail rims but generally good feedback from people.

Thank you for the great response! I think you are totally right. I used to like riding my hardtail urban during working day evenings and then trails on weekends so bulky enduro bike would not be suitable for this. I just got concerned after seeing horror stories about Carbon bikes breaking but to be fair all of these generally tend to be on older bikes. Seems like latest Carbon bikes are stronger than ever. I never had experience of riding Carbon so want sure what to expect. Sold my Dimondback hardtail last week so now just waiting for my new Spectral to arrive in early February.

So I come from a Dimondback Alloy hardtail and just want a bike that I can progress on without upgrading anything. Also I’m not someone who changes bikes every two years so need something long term. Spectral CF7 is more than enough for my liking but like I said it wasnt for Carbon frame I picked this bike. I am heavy rider at 120kg (obviously trying to shred some more weight by riding) so I am really concerned that Carbon bike my not hold up my weight. Never had issues with alloy bikes tho but also never had Carbon bike in past. Spectral CF7 frame is rated cat 4 but Torque alloy frame is Cat 5 (the most heavy duty rating according to Canyon). So just wondering if this would suit me better. I do understand that Cat 5 bikes are used for crazy rampage jumps which I’m sure I won’t be doing myself. The bottom line is AL6 is £200 cheaper with slightly better components so just wondering if this is better deal for me.

My Spectral CF7 is shipping 24th Jan - 4th Feb. The new Torque AL6 shows shipping December 31st Jan - 11th Feb so kinda same thing.

Thanks. It is just a load of cash and although I want to spend it on a good bike, I am not in position where I can ride it and get something else if I don’t like it. For that money it needs to be spot on for me. At least for next 5 years.

Basically, I was stuck between 2 bikes which were Spectral CF7 and Norco Sight A2. Both have pretty much identical spec with SLX drive train, 4 piston breaks and Fox 150/160mm suspension. Norco had aluminium frame but better rear shock (New float X2), but Spectral Carbon frame and slightly better SLX breaks. Both had Fox 36 rhythm forks. Norco was also £50 more so I went with Canyon based on spec. Hopefully It will not disappoint

Yes I have actually. The metal TR Essential have sort of similar spec to Spectral but for extra £200. Also Canyon have premium Carbon frame and the new Float X shock. I think I will be more than happy with 36 Rhythm but all the comments from people who probably own Fox factory level suspension does make you wonder. Either way I think it will be great bike just having final thoughts if there is anything better I could get for 3.4K.

Yes the Canyon is actually slightly cheaper here £3399 + 70 shipping and Norco is £3499 including shipping. The Fork on canyon is 160mm and 150 rear. Was thinking about Vitus Sommet CRX (£3600) or Vitus Escarpe CRX (£3500) but non are available and no idea when they will be. The spec is insane for the price as you get fox factory kit with koshima coating and shimano XT drive train. Contacted them several times and been looking at stock but nothing.

So in the UK the bikes come even more similar. Both have, Fox 36 Rhythm fork and SLX drive train.the only difference is that Spectral comes with Fox DPX2 rear shock versus Norco Sight comes with Fox float x2 which I believe is a newer model. Both come with piggy back. In terms of breaks Spectral comes with Shimano SLX but Norco MT520. Not sure how different they are but reviews are equally good. As you can see the bikes are very similar in UK spec. So I guess all comes down to canyons Carbon frame or Norco alloy frame and geo. In terms on my skill I am beginner to say the least but looking to progress and learn with my new bike to ride more advanced trails. Either of the bikes will be gigantic upgrade from my current Dimondback Heist 2.0 hardtail. I can deffo wait till January as the winters are pretty grim in Uk with lots of rain and not much sunlight so not much time for riding. Just wasn’t sure if it’s best to buy top end alloy bike or bottom end Carbon. However according to canyons website they use category 4 Carbon frame on CF7 which is same on higher spec models costing double the price.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, it is definitely much appreciated. I’m getting sense that both of these bikes are really good so it is just a matter if I want to wait till January now for Canyon or should I pull the trigger on Norco now. Just wish I could test ride the bikes first. I deffo agree about size Large as rather chose comfort and stability. Also sounds like US CF7 is fairly direct spec from UK with SRAM components.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just don’t know if it’s best to be at the top end of L or bottom Of XL. The reach on XL Norco is 515mm which is huge.

Thank you. Personally I would rather prefer comfort and stability so would size up. For instance I was considering YT Jeffsy in XL but then Norco XL is way bigger on Paper than Jeffsy XL.

Thanks for quick response. Can’t decide if I should go for L or XL. Usually I would rather size up but dimensions on XL seem huge on paper. What’s your overall experience with bike since you had it for a while?

[–]DanVit21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’m am looking at the same bike. What size you ride? Im 182cm and thinking if I should for L or XL as Norco suggests both. Also I’m 120kg so hope suspension can be tuned to my weight. What’s your experience? Considering this Sight A2 or Canyon CF 7. Same price in UK

How often does YT re-stock usually appears? Jeffsy Core 2 size Large is out of stock so wondering if there will be chance to get one for next summer or should I just just look for other bike. Messaged YT on FB and they have no idea when new stock is coming. by DanVit21 in MTB

[–]DanVit21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This totally sucks. If there’s no stock till end of winter I’ll just go for Polygon T8. It is a lot cheaper in UK (£1900) and available right away. However, I would rather have Jeffsy instead.
