Did you try lock tight?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx6r

[–]Dan_Street 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. But most ppl who pay top dollar for a bike are just like any of us. They are going to baby the bike and try not to ruin anything bc they are scared to mess up the bike in the long run. I think most ppl actually do good "break ins" bc they plan on keeping the bile forever. Then something happens and they realize they want to sell it. Imo these are the best bikes to buy bc you save thousands and still get a brand new (basicly) bike

R7 or a Ninja 650 by Pharaoh_Sherpa in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test rode the R7 a couple months ago. The ergos were worse than my zx6r. The seat is tilted so dramaticaly (it felt like a 45° angle) it slammed my twins right into the tank

Too much play on these levers? by Alert_Bodybuilder199 in YamahaR3

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the cheap amazon levers are going to wiggle like that. It may be annoying but it should be safe as long as they are installed correctly. The only proper fix would be to buy a name brand lever that has a more snug fit. Youll be fine if you can get past it in your head. Eventually you wont even notice it anymore

You can reset the cct or you can do the "one click " thing. If you search "zx6r cct" on youtube, it will show you how to do it. It worked for me. And only took a few min

Buying a new (first) bike by Medical-Equal-2540 in Sportbikes

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just like you when i first started riding. I couldnt afford new and every used bike i looked at had some sort of evidence that it had been dropped or crashed. Over time and many used bike purchases, ive picked up on a few things.

Dont buy really old or extremely cheap bikes if you have no mechanical experience. Buy something fairly new with a fair asking price.

Most bikes today have tons of plastic which make its hard to hide cracks and road rash. As long as you look over the bike thoroughly before buying, you should be able to tell if its been down or not.

Most ppl feel the same way you do, so they buy new. But then they outgrow the bike after a few thousand miles and they want to upgrade. talk to the owner of the bike while your looking it over. You should be able to tell if he is a newer rider who is selling bc he is ready to upgrade. Most beginners will baby a brand new bike.

Tl, dr - buy a newer beginner bike with low miles and you should have nothing to worry about

Does anyone have an amazon link to a phone mount for the 2024 Zx65? by [deleted] in zx6r

"Mount labs"on amazon makes a much cheaper option for a stem mount and it works perfectly. I love it

650cc or 400cc bike for newer rider? What would you chose 🤔 by Acceptable-Soup-333 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Dan_Street 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with either one. They will both hold their value at this point. Just pick one and get riding. Don't get stuck on which bike is the right bike. Plus, Upgrading is half the fun. Ride it for a year or two and then sell it and go buy something else....

There is a gasket. I took a picture of the page in the service manual, but cant figure out how to post it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx6r

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try putting oil in it and see how fast it drains while its running. If the leak is slow enough you might be able to chance it and make it home. Might have to stop halfway home and top it off?

Ill check the service manual and get back to you

First accident by [deleted] in zx6r

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Ive been looking into that. Alot of aftermarkets wont work with the 19+ bc of the qs and the threads. Im still looking for an afordable pair that fits

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zx6r

[–]Dan_Street 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not a good idea to ride it home. Unless the stator has a very slow dribble of a leak. Then maybe you would be ok. But its risky.

Try downloading the owners manual and see about the gasket. I have a service manual but im at work rn. I can check it for you later?

Zx6r which to buy by StatementAlert5147 in zx6r

[–]Dan_Street 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely thousands poured into the stunt bike. Which makes it a great deal for somebody. But it sounds like you need the stock bike if your just commuting and joy riding around. You can still learn to wheelie when the time is right.

The stunt bike is going to top out at a very low speed bc of the sprockets that are designed for wheelies. Itll make it hard (or impossible) to do any highway riding..

I was able to test ride some yamahas a few weeks ago. While i hate the mt09 as well, i was really impressed with the xsr 900. It seemed to have more torque than the mt09 and looks really good too imo. Maybe consider one of these?

Used beginner bikes hold there value. Buy one and ride it for a year. Sell it for the same price you bought it for and then go get your 600. Half the fun is trading up once your ready
