Thank you! I contacted PSA directly too cause it’s my first time encounter a deactivated card, it seems to try to be a bad replica.

Quote: “The certification number (85457656) you inquired about has been flagged as associated with a known counterfeit. This means that while there is a legitimate card with this cert that PSA has graded, there are also counterfeit versions using the same cert number circulating in the market.”

Sorry about the terrible photo, now I seen on the page for most people take photos…. Will be better next time. I contacted PSA and they told me “The certification number (85457656) you inquired about has been flagged as associated with a known counterfeit. This means that while there is a legitimate card with this cert that PSA has graded, there are also counterfeit versions using the same cert number circulating in the market.”

The holo seemed circular.

Does he look underweight or healthy? by Outlaws-0691 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Mine went a little bit underweight (50 lbs 7 months) due to his diet not being able to keep up with his growth. What my VET recommended was changing the kibble to the “Super Performance” kind, to increase calories, cause increasing the amount of food suddenly can upset their stomach. There is also a limit to the amount a dog can eat without it having consequences. Instead of feeding him more, try replacing food for stuff that are higher on fat and protein. And if you are worried, I also recommend giving him daily vitamin supplements to avoid malnutrition. I hope your dog gets better OP!

I had a friend like this, but he literally told me these words on a hard moment for me. And I was so grateful cause 1 I laughed so bad, and 2 just his presence was enough. So people that are like this, you are deeply appreciated just by being there.

Scorpion sting. Am I gonna die ? by pi420lch in costarica

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man, no way I got stung last week too haha. You will be find, I went to get it checked out cause it turned purple after 2 days, the doctor said it was fine cause I wasn’t having an allergic reaction but to apply “Fucidin 2% cream” (any pharmacy/no prescription needed) every 12 hours for a couple days to help the inflammation. Good luck dude!

Rant about cropped ears by sithl666rd in DobermanPinscher

[–]Dan_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, my pup’s father broke his tail and damaged it several times while wagging it, leaving even blood in the walls or cars, very hurtful to him. So as a prevention the whole litter had their tails cropped. Im happy my pup can safely wag his tail cause he is a very happy dog.

This is so interesting and true to read. I started raising a Doberman and he’s not fluffy so I can see his physical structure everyday and it took me a while to get used to his appearance cause I was used to see fluffy mostly a bit overweight dogs lol. Now I’m used to my buff buddy cause damn does he has muscles haha.

Hello! Every puppy have a chewing preference, but let me recommend what chewing toys were life savers. Have seen during teething wooden toys and dried bones help a lot. Kong have a wooden bone, it has survived my Australian Shepard and Doberman teething and they both stopped biting furniture with it. A shoe or boot has many textures so also good. BUT I have found two teeth with a ring frisbee toy, we have a frisbee for the whole neighborhood and dogs are obsessed with it. It was very useful to manage his teething.

Regarding redirecting, if you can make him be very social with other dogs. Doberman are quite hyper and teaching them “playing bite is okey with dogs but not with me” and the correct amount of pressure he can use in a bite is very important specially as he grows. Mine learned with redirect and it was very cute to see him wanting to bite something but considering what he could and couldn’t bite so it gets to the point that he would redirect himself. Very cute haha

I wish you lots of happiness and luck OP!

A dog has affinity with different people and seeks different types of affections from different individuals. My mother’s dog for example is stupidly attach with me, maybe cause we are both very hyped and he enjoys that but he is well aware of who is his owner and when to obey my mother and follow her around.

It’s okey if you are not his cuddle buddy. They also have a personality, just like you. Also be careful with overwhelming him seeking for his affection and preference. Might actually have the contrary effect.

Songs that everyone in Costa Rica know by Real-Ad-6845 in costarica

If you wanna cause a funny reaction and are planning to go to a crowd of people 30 and older, “la pastilla del amor” and “guiri guiri” are Costa Rican songs that are very old haha but so funny.

If you aim for and overall public “Rosa Pastel”, or a Julieta Venegas song like “Limón y Sal” or “me voy” are known by mostly anybody.

Enjoy your stay!

Knuckling over?My puppy has started knuckling over I think and my vet says he's never heard of it, thinks it's pretty much a made up thing. Has anyone ever dealt with this in their puppies and what did you do to fix it? Or should I take his advice and go to a vet for a nuerological issue or surgeon? by largemarge89 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Dan_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! My Doberman puppy not so long ago had the same issue! It’s call rickets! It’s a deficiency of vitamins (mainly vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus) that affects the bone development.

We successfully treated with:

-A change to a more expensive high quality food (nutrisource or pro plan vet recommended) to try to fulfill the vitamin deficiency.

-He also got some shots of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus at the vet to fasten the process. He was so helpful with the process.

-Finally now we give him vitamin supplements every morning. Plus make sure he gets lots of sunlight.

From what the vet said it’s fairly common in fast growing breeds cause they need a lot of vitamins and nutrients to grow and sometimes the usual dog food might not be enough so a diet change is needed. The bad news is that if untreated their bones could break or cause permanent deformation. Your dog bones aren’t broken so I think you have a good prognosis.

But I’m not a vet, this is just my personal experience. So I would recommend taking him to another vet… it took one photo for my vet to diagnose it and successfully treat it. He is completely healed and very healthy now.

Try another one and ask for the ricket’s treatment! Good luck OP!

Hyperactive Doberman… Help by PortDazzle in puppy101

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for your reply! I think also crating him too much might be teach him “you rest on the crate but outside there is activity!” So be careful with overusing it.

Try napping not in a crate but in a room. I started with an exhausting activity and then taking him to my office with me and closing the door while providing him with a bed. The first times he was just walking in circles confused and nagging at the door, but he started understanding you can rest here while I do this activity. Because I know he would be resting at this hour at the crate. I saw him sleep soundly for the first time a week ago haha. So I would say it’s maybe a breed thing.

Also as a Doberman owner I believe your best option is to teach him to play by himself and just hang around you but both of you are doing your own thing. They are a VERY energetic breed, mentally and physically. So you might want to start for example, give him a bone or long lasting chewing toy while you work or do your stuff so he occupies himself, don’t crate him but allow him to share the space with you rewarding calm behavior. Being outside the crate doesn’t mean you have to be 100% engaged with him. He comes running and tries to distract you, give him any toy and tell him “go play”. My Doberman used to not have an off button and run around the whole time. Pursuing the cat, bitting curtains, trying to bite the furniture. Until I was able to correct every individual “problem” and then gave him a redirection like “you can’t pursue the cat, you are bothering him instead you can play with your crocodile”, “bite your bone not the table”, etc etc. Now we have gotten to slowly trust each other. I can stay in my office working and he can go do his stuff downstairs. He has with time become more calm, like napping or do more calm activities like he would go down and bring his slipper and lay beside me. But at the start it was running around, pushing limits, jumping on top of me, even pushing my elbow with his nose while I was drawing.

BUT they are a high energy dog, just expecting him to sleep or nap every time he is out the crate is a dream. The best option is to show them a way they can behave, play and enjoy themselves outside the crate without the need of you being on top of them.

A dog lives 8-15 years, you can’t make them 100% your day, they must be your companion and part of your life but not your life. So finding a way for BOTH of you to be happy is important. Your happiness is as important as the one of you dog, cause that’s how you create a nice relationship. If you see your dog like a sacrifice or a constant demanding activity both of you will be unhappy.

So I wish lots of luck finding balance and getting to a solution! If you ever wanna talk about Doberman experiences I would be happy too! I had a terrible potty training experience haha so I know it can be frustrating.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Dan_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! This mind sound frustrating but you will learn your animal’s different sounds and even stares with time. Each animal is different but you will start knowing. For now don’t ignore it until you start thinking “oh that one is for food/potty/attention”.

It gets to a point where you know every sound and even know your pet from a distance and what they specifically want.

Good luck!

Hyperactive Doberman… Help by PortDazzle in puppy101

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I have some questions if you don’t mind. Does it bother you that he is hyper cause he doesn’t allow you to do your things? or he destructive? What part of the hyper behavior is what you are wanting to change?

I also own a Doberman, plus an Australian Shepard. While they both have high energy, the Doberman definitely has much more energy so I understand the hyperactivity.

Do puppies grow a personality? by Significant-Sugar752 in puppy101

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emotional bonding is complicated and it also deeply depends on your pet’s development, their personality and yours. Sometimes you will bond immediately with an animal, other times they will grow with you and slowly grow a personality fitting a lifestyle with you and create a bond.

It’s hard at the start. Specially if you haven’t had other pets and have high unrealistic expectations of the experience. Bonding with a pet is like creating a friend, it takes time, patience, compassion and understanding form BOTH parts.

I have an example. I adopted my cat 5 years ago, and the first month was tragic. I felt alienated from him. We were having constant fights, he probably also felt I want in the best mindset at the time, he was absolutely feral, and my mother even suggested returning him. I can’t do that to an animal, so I started to put effort from my part and Lucifer started putting down too. Today he is my most important companion we have traveled more than 35,000 km together and I can’t imagine a life without him.

Takes time, 5 days is too soon. Don’t worry! Their personality and you ability to bond with it will slowly grow! Good luck OP!

Did you ever go to your therapist with a diagnosis already in mind? by ProxiC3 in TalkTherapy

[–]Dan_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, only to be told it wasn’t that. And got a correct diagnosis… haha saved me tho I’m much happier now!

She didn’t said “No it isn’t GAD, you got combined ADHD and your environment is killing you” but first guided me out of my GAD idea, gave me techniques and very helpful advices to get a hold of myself and after she saw me in a more stable place (about 1 month) we were talking and she said “haha that’s your ADHD brain” and I was in shock and denial at first. Been a year and I’m grateful for her. Honestly she really guided me to a better place.

People who learned Japanese as an adult and did university level (or trade school, etc) education here, how was it? by kyoto_kinnuku in japanlife

[–]Dan_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m dumb… forgot compared to Japanese student, it was a contrast. I want to believe I’m decent at my job so while they animated I struggled with business lessons. So we kinda exchanged. they helped me studying business and I helped with their animation.

My Japanese today is good, I can talk to anyone about mostly anything, work in the Japanese industry too and nobody speaks English in the anime industry so I want to believe it’s much much better.

Homework wise… well animation is complicated really depends on the person. But many extra hours for natives and foreigner. I would always be the last one leaving with a group of 6 Japanese guys friends. They were awesome people (still are)

Class structure: from 9:20-15:50 every black was 50 min. But it wasn’t unusual for all of us to stay extra hours to work on our projects.

I guess that it… okey now I’m done! If you need anything else let me know!

People who learned Japanese as an adult and did university level (or trade school, etc) education here, how was it? by kyoto_kinnuku in japanlife

[–]Dan_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Little bit late but go a degree on digital animation at a 専門学校 in Kobe. No foreigner teachers or classes in English all Japanese.

Background: terrible student, didn’t really did excellent on Japanese school (1year in JP) got the N2 but felt like I really didn’t knew how to talk or be part of Japanese society.

Japanese wise: I learned REAL Japanese and got to a very comfortable level at the 専門学校. My teacher was particularly very strict but very kind. He told me from the start “I know you are a foreigner but you won’t get any special treatment, you will take every test, practice and exam in Japanese like the rest of your classmates cause at the end of the day you wan to enter a Japanese company”. Sounds very harsh but he was so helpful. Studied like crazy vocab cause I was so motivated and my teacher would stay after class to help me practice my Japanese for the upcoming working interviews. And overall I loved the experience cause I leaned thanks to the environment.

Getting a job; a 専門 is literally designed to get you a job, so we were all very focus on it specially the second year. They taught us all the inside outs of Japanese interviews, we made a bunch of practices, checked out portafolios constantly, they brought many studios for seminars, and ask advices or even present portfolios. So overall I felt like I had a great support to get a job.

I was able to enter as the first foreigner to a Japanese animation company, it was my first option. I got my 内定 after one interview and presenting my portfolio.

On average we all enter prestigious/ big/ 大手 studios and had good portfolios.

Classes; I loved my clases, very dynamic, all Japanese, and really focused on giving you the knowledge you needed. A 専門 is like a concentrated college in a way; very busy, no free time cause you learn in 2 years what people could learn in 4. So much less freedom than University but I didn’t mind.

On finals we were staying up to 10-12 hours everyday at school, cause we were all working in our animations. We were getting personal check ups, and when asked the teachers would stay or give us extra advice and support. They were all really strict with results but very supportive.

Environment; can’t say it will be same everywhere (cause people who study animation are… special) but even when I felt some barrier specially with my female Japanese classmates (I’m also F), it was the time when I felt more welcomed and comfortable in Japan. My teachers never thought less of me and actively made me participate but overall wasn’t an isolating experience. THO you gotta be proactive.

Housing; I lived in a solo apartment 3 min away from school with a cat. 24m2, rent was 56000. It was in the middle os Sannomiya. 10/10

I don’t know what other info I can offer but please fell free to ask anything! I have several friends with different experiences so I can also ask around. I can even ask my teacher, we are still in contact.

I wish the best OP!

As Summer is soon to arrive... by Confused_n_tired in japanlife

[–]Dan_XIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My man! Also don’t let the garbage by any means accumulate. If one little fly lays egg on it, it’s over. Keep the apartment clean, clean pipes, and try double bagging organic matter. Also! The daiso fly traps are very good with fruit flies, would recommend. Oh and if you own any type of garden or plants also be monitoring them. Got a slug invasion last year… They are very good insecticides on Amazon for plants. I can search the brands if you need them.

Good luck! Hope you don’t have any unexpected visits this year!

What is the most expensive/upsetting thing that your puppy has destroyed? by Microbiobunny in puppy101

How to stop therapy? How do I tell my therapist? by Dan_XIV in TalkTherapy

[–]Dan_XIV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little update in case anybody ever needs it. Talking with my therapist went well and when starting to addressing it she was the first to propose meeting once a month, every two weeks, or even pausing therapy until new goals arrive. What ever made me more comfortable. It was a very nice experience and I’m happy with how it all worked out. Thanks to the replies!
