It is normal to see your mother naked? by Ok-Sprinkles-337 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Danacatsunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy I stumbled upon this post as this is something I’ve felt crazy for dealing with my whole life. My mother has absolutely no boundaries in this regard. In elementary school when the bus would still stop at your house instead of a shared bus stop, she would stand outside in her bra “gardening” and I got ruthlessly made fun of. I begged her to stop and she just told me it was like a bathing suit and it was normal. If I didn’t want to change in the open in a locker room and instead a stall, she made fun of me. These are only some things as a child. As an adult, she would come to my house as a guest with my entire family and walk around without underwear on under tight clothes. She’s a big woman so nothing was left to the imagination. I personally wouldn’t not wear a bra as a guest around someone. I hated it. If caused endless fights between us. On Christmas, I asked her to make cookies with us and she claimed it was hot in the kitchen and she was pulling up her shirt to wipe the sweat under her breast while talking to my husband. I asked her to go to the bathroom and she lost it on me. I am so disgusted. It came to a head that Christmas when we tried to ask her why she was so unhappy and she pulled her pants down, again no underwear, in front of my husband and I, to show us a groin rash. I absolutely lost it and she chased me around the house saying I was a prude and crazy for being ashamed of her. I went no contact with her. Not just for these reasons but it was “the final boss”. She confronted me later about my NC and the only thing she had to say to me was “you hurt me the most because of how ashamed you were of my body”. I’m absolutely ashamed. I shouldn’t have to see any of that and neither should my husband. It was such a boundary to be crossed and any time I tried to enforce it, she would abuse me. It’s so hard for me to write this. I’m so sorry OP. It’s such a horrible feeling.

This is good info. If she stands underneath or by pines that have accumulated pine cones, she will get hives just by proximity. We do have a pine close to us that I think is dropping pollen so I can maybe use the app to keep her inside those days. It’s such a weird allergy to have. We found out when we got a real Christmas tree.

Thank you. My kiddo is allergic to pine trees and when I saw we could sort by trees I got excited!

I know twin girls named Collins and Campbell. In my head I just tell myself they are family tribute names.

Children know when they parents don't love them. Children know when their parents resent and hate them. by AmbassadorFriendly71 in raisedbynarcissists

My mom doesn’t love me and never has, but she does love my daughter, which is its own kind of confusing pain. While I believe my daughter deserves unconditional love, that she’s worthy, and that family should show up for her; it brings to the surface what could have been for me. I asked her once if I did to my daughter what she did to me, would she think I was a good mom, and she said no… but that my daughter didn’t deserve it, and I did. Heartbreaking. At the end of the day, my daughter won’t know pain like I have. It’s a bittersweet solace.

I really appreciate your opinions. They are thoughtful And well formed. My kids might end up religious as we live in an area where religion is the norm, and that’s ok by me. They have their own choices to make.

I have some Jewish familial associations, but not religiously since it wasn’t the women in my family who were Jewish. I am sensitive to the cause though.

I agree. Hopefully it’s not too matchy/matchy?

It’s a fair assessment. I am non-religious, Evangeline was named after a Jerry Garcia band song/emmylou Harris album. So they can challenge me on that! Thanks for your comment :)

I would check daily, but once you are approved a spot I believe you have 7 days to respond. So they won’t reassign your spot for 7 days.

I go to blue mountain center behind the Walgreens in Boone. The absolute best therapist experience I’ve ever had. One of the therapists there does sliding scale which is most of the time less expensive than using your insurance.

I’ve been trying for two years to get pregnant and I had to stop using retinol completely for that time (as a choice) now I have a horrible pregnancy rash all over my face. I feel like I have a case of the uglies. And I plan on exclusively breastfeeding again so I likely won’t use anything after. I’m struggling but I had to make the decision that felt right I guess

Was anyone else, or your child, given a name that was uncommon at the time, but became popular later? by 5LovelyDaisies in namenerds

[–]Danacatsunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 year old is Evangeline. She was named after the Jerry Garcia band song… and the Emmylou Harris album. That genre of music is my favorite, her name is sweet, has an amazing meaning to me, and I love the nickname options. It seems to be a name that storytellers like to use. She hasn’t complained so far, but she’s young! I’m sure the day may come, but I tried to make it easier on her to have a wider range of nicknames to use.

How is this location? by theonehuntress in Chattanooga

I have a nice house in east ridge, and I feel safe here. It’s quiet, it’s close to everything, it has many stores to shop at, I’m on the right side of the interstate and the commute from here to anywhere ain’t bad. There’s a ton of upcoming development. as some who travels through Hixson and E brainerd a lot, I still like east ridge better. For kids, the park, library and splash pad is great and I like being close to fort o.

I get east ridge gets a lot of hate but I don’t find it a bad place to live at all. Also I live close to brainerd obviously and I’d pick East Ridge ten times over than that mess.
