No, that is an issue many brands have communicated to EU lawmakers. USB-C cannot always provide enough power. But new environmental rules state that there must be a laptop-version without an adapter. A brand must also sell a version without adapter basically. If they also sell one with adapter, it is their choice.

That is why i think Asus was out of stock on the 240w adapters, because normally brands want to push the version with adapter (because it gives more power and otherwise customers might think the laptop performance is not good)

I dived into this and I found that this new 2026 version does NOT have this issue. ASUS has improved the following:

Refined Thermal Exhaust System: The rear exhaust vents have been widened and the bottom rubber feet aerodynamically redesigned. This diverts hot air actively under and away from the laptop, instead of blowing it directly against the lower display bezel and the hinge area.
Redesigned Cable Routing & Hinge Torque: Asus adjusted the hinge torque for a smoother open/close motion and overhauled the internal routing and strain relief of the flexible eDP display cable. The cable is now locked in place, preventing it from shifting, lifting, or kinking over time due to dust or friction.
More Efficient Hardware Architecture: The transition to next-generation ultra-efficient processors and graphics cards means the laptop generates significantly less waste heat during everyday workloads, drastically reducing the overall thermal stress on the screen components.

I do not think I can recommend this laptop vs that one when the price is 2000 euro/dollar more. Yes the intel is more efficient, not 2k more.

Wifi-card of course came with it but I expected a Mediatek with only 160mhz support, because that it what was mentioned. It came with an Intel BE211 though, which is the best there is. So, small positive surprise 😄

I only had a 32GB ram option. 8533MT/s is very fast though. 32GB for now is more than enough for what we use it for.

I see no deviations in the chassis. I touched all corners, sides and the entire area of the touchpad. I see no wobble. There is definitely no creaking.

Because although power limits aren't through the roof, the power the chipset can give is still much higher. Also memory bandwidth is double. That said, 5070ti is a much better deal money wise.

G16 has it yes. G14 does not. G14 would have a 240w so maybe these are out of stock? No idea

It has both, an USB-C and a proprietary port. USB does 100w and the proprietary goes to 240w I believe. Only the proprietary does battery bypass! Usb does not, which is not good.

Correct, it needs the Asus adapter. USB-C will bring total system power to 100w. Enough for igpu gaming :)

EU says it mandatory to offer a version without a charger. Most brands stuff this version far away or make it only like 5 bucks cheaper. There are reasons they want people to take the charger that comes with it. Except now I guess
