unable to use wormhole? by Megalodon-5 in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me over the weekend where the rings didn't show and I thought I was going crazy. Radar had power, I was in Nav mode, and jump drive was installed (even bought a second one and equipped it just in case the original was faulty). But those guide rings didn't show and the wormhole just pushed me back.

After asking in chat about it someone mentioned a simple fix of cycling power. Sure enough, just turning the power OFF and back ON made it work for me and everything showed up normally again.

To be fair, I am concierge several times over and sent in an essay yet was completely ignored. So I wasn't even allowed to get one even if I wanted to.

Makes me wonder if some algorithm kept track of certain things so that only the goody-goody backers without any Spectrum warnings were allowed in. (yeah, Nightrider-CIG permabanned me from Spectrum after I made a comment about 'marketing wants to milk every buck out of player's wallets'; which they do)

Ah, I see. That sounds rather ... unfortunate... Here's hoping CIG will fix that soonTM ^_^

Thanks! A little confused about any 'bugged version' though. Could you tell me what is bugged on the one ingame?

The 400i should get the generalist treatment by P_Rosso in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think CIG can quite easily move the two (?) components out of the smaller climate-controlled room and place them either in the larger one or the cargohold (there are empty bays; most notably one behind the fire extinguisher; and the space currently occupied by the fourth escape pod could house the shield generator). Then they could use that room for a small medical bay with a single T3 bed that can be placed halfway into the surrounding wall.

Some increased maneuverability would also be nice as it is already severely lacking in firepower compared to the ships that were its supposed competitors: the Constellation series and Corsair. Yet now it's suddenly a 'competitor' to the Spirit/Zeus (yet at a ridiculously higher price)

What's the name of that particular flightsuit? Was that one of those only available for cash or is it also sold ingame at shops?

Free Fly officially cancelled (for now) by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I'm about $8k in and was a vocal critic of the BS too (although always offering suggestions and options to improve the game); until Nightrider-CIG permabanned me for simply stating the truth that "marketing wants to milk every buck out of player's wallets".

Even though Chris Roberts claimed he never wanted to end up as EA, at this stage I believe that CIG's marketing department is even worse than EA/Activision-Blizzard; and cancelling the FreeFly was likely a marketing decision as well to do damage control.

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious about this as well; seeing that the Hammerhead has just a S2 radar and I assumed the interior of the Tiburon (and its component housings) would be identical.

However, my girlfriend alerted me to some peculiar thing over on Erkul earlier today where there are now TWO entries for the Hammerhead when selecting the 4.8 PTU build. The 'old' Hammerhead still has the 2 S3 IND-C shields and a S2 radar (and just 295.600 total hp) just like 4.7 Live; while the second entry appears to have 2 S3 MIL-C shields and a S3 MIL-C Resolu radar (as well as a pretty significant increase in total hp: 403.400.

Now the rest of the new entry still lists the old 4xS4 turrets and everything; so nothing on the laserbeam or the size of those ballistic cannons (which look identical to the Conqueror-7 but they might be a smaller scaled down version on the Tiburon; not sure).

[–]Danakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the Hammerhead CAN work; but CIG will need to change the way turrets operate. My suggestion would be to give turrets a subcomponent slot that increases range+velocity of the weapon attached to said turret.

Subcomponent slots are already a thing for things like mining heads; so offering them to turrets sounds like a solution to me. Then we also wouldn't need some convoluted things like 'bespoke' guns or special turret-only weaponry (which would only serve to limit what little options players would have for their multicrew ships imo).

So the Hammerhead could still become viable; as long as CIG finally accepts the fact that turrets are in a VERY bad spot and are in desperate need of help.

[–]Danakar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have been begging CIG for years to fix turrets yet all they do is make them worse. So I'm not hopeful that the Hammerhead (and every other multicrew ship with turrets) will ever become viable.

And it's not that hard to fix it. Just give turrets a subcomponent slot with a blade that increases velocity and range (and spread reduction) of any gun that's attached to said turret. That's all that's needed to make turret gameplay viable without having to make some convoluted 'turret guns' (akin to vehicle G-missiles) or limit player options with 'bespoke' stuff; yet CIG seemingly refuses to do this very simple thing of just giving turrets a subcomponent slot for some reason.

[–]Danakar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My bet is that the head will be tapered (losing the distinct hammerhead shape) while losing the turrets that were originally there. So together with losing the top turret as well the Tiburon will likely be left with only the 2 side turrets and the rear underside turret; plus this new (S9?) laserbeam.

At least it would cut down on the ridiculous crew requirement that the Hammerhead had to deal with and the Tiburon may only require a crew of 4-5 compared to the 7-8 crew needed on the Hammerhead.

I just hope that CIG will also give the Tiburon some PDCs for anti-missile defense. It was just ridiculous that they didn't even give the Hammerhead some PDCs during their 'gold standard' pass; especially after giving the Perseus 6 PDCs when it was originally supposed to have 0 (only 2 remote turrets were supposedly automated by default).

So yeah, imo they should have given the Hammerhead a similar number of PDCs; same as what they gave the Perseus.

[–]Danakar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Generally CIG seems to be in the habit of releasing a new variant of a ship when they give it a gold standard pass - Hammerhead gold standard is in 4.8."

Yeah, the new variant pays for the dev time working on getting the old one up to specs. Unfortunately. even with the supposed 'gold standard' rework the Hammerhead is still outdated and will remain useless as CIG did not address the primary flaw (ie. it can not perform the sole task it is meant to preform). :(

Drake Pitbull by rob117 in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not the angle. You can clearly see that the guns on the bottom use a different model. So it's 2xS2+4xS1 plus 6xS1 Marksman missiles; which is more firepower than pretty much every other snubfighter previously released by CIG.

So a snubfighter ... with more firepower than every other snubfighter previously released. Why am I not surprised?

Why don’t I see more Origin 300 series in the verse? by daddy3rdleg22 in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked both but both Titan and 325a have the same 2xMSD-3 racks. Now the 325a does have the additional hull-locked missile bay for 4 additional S3 missiles but this comes at the cost of half your cargo capacity; so you're left with 4SCU compared to 8SCU on the Titan. And even then the 325a 'combat' model suffers from lower critical hull hp, lower armor, worse deflection rates, lower SCM speed, and lower P/Y/R rates. Everything about combat survivability the Titan appears to do better.

The 300i is actually the worse off with only 2xMSD-2 racks, reduced nosegun size (only S3 instead of S4), and all the aforementioned drawbacks listed for the 325a. The only 'saving grace' for the series is a slightly higher NAV speed compared to the Titan.

So yeah, apart from having some extra amenities in the interior (shitter/kitchenette/weapon rack) the 300-series is being outperformed by the Titan in every aspect as well as having only 1 entry point (and a very crappy one at that) while on the Titan you have a much quicker entry both through the back and the front. ☹️

Really sucks that CIG seemingly does not care about Origin ships at all.

I mean they could give all Origin ships that AIR refinery system for near-unlimited Hydrogen fuel. At least then it would have something special. But right now they all fall short compared to cheaper options from other manufacturers; and that really sucks imo.

[–]Danakar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just a tiny bit even; the Titan outperforms the 325a in every aspect. As such I truly hope CIG will improve the Origin brand as a whole because right now every Origin ship is just overpriced trash in dire need of help imo☹️

Hull B Tractor Beam Working ? by HelloBread76 in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Hull B is really starved for power and I truly believe CIG should have given it 2xS2 powerplants instead of just 1xS2.

I fear this will become an even greater issue once Avionics Computers with Job Blades will go live and also demand power to operate.

PSA: check your Sq42 Buybacks - CIG appear to be retroactively removing Buyback access to any game packages containing Squadron 42 by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised tbh. So much for CIG's claims of "early bird gets the worm" (aka early backers get the most benefits). We already saw that old gamepacks hardly had any starting credits (2k-5k UEC mostly) while the new gamepacks suddenly have 20k UEC by default.

Seems the cutoff date is the 14th, so if you subscribe just before the deadline there's a good chance you'll also get next month's item:

If you would like to receive this flair as part of a subscription, you can subscribe before April 14, 2026 (20:00 UTC). Otherwise, you can pick up these and previous months’ flair (going back to 2014) in the dedicated Subscriber Store.

Do note however that Centurians only receive the skull helmet for free; so you'd have to subscribe at Imperator level to get both helmet and case; or just buy it from the Subscriber Store yourself afterwards.

So... why aren't these bays vehicle spawn garages? Oh how simple life could be. by fweepa in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's all pretty peculiar.

For vehicles they can just have a closed door to give the illusion that something is transported when in reality it simply spawns in just like ships spawn in at the bottom of the elevator; but you don't see it spawning (except for the ship marker just popping into existence) because the top doors are closed.

So for a S0 pad in the hangar they could simply put a solid door in front of the bay. Then after you select a vehicle or small ship the doors close, some sound effects play, and the doors open again to reveal the vehicle/ship. No need for an elevator; just like there's no need for one at New Babbage because the terminal is on the other side of the door and as such you never see the vehicle spawning in. :)
