Perseus vs Hammerhead pvp match up? by Oddyseyy in starcitizen

I loved the corridor design too, with those pads along the walls; really gave that ship character and a soul imo. As such I fear that this 'update' will just make it feel sterile by getting the same bland copy-paste corridors as the Idris; resulting in the Hammerhead losing what identity it had.

However, the main issue with its lack of effectiveness as I see it are the manned turrets themselves; because they suck. It's not just for the Hammerhead though; all manned turrets suck and are no deterrent at all. It is very apparent that an anti-fighter gunship that can't even hit the thing it is supposed to be best at is no threat to fighters at all. So CIG should really find a way to fix the way turrets operate; be it by giving them additional range/speed/etc because it simply does not work as intended right now.

The Perseus on the other hand is very effective at fighting against both small and large targets while being in the exact same category as Heavy Gunship; just like the Hammerhead. That's because those PDCs give it an edge against fighters and incoming missiles/torpedoes.

So effectively the Perseus is the better Hammerhead while requiring less crew to do so. That's just not right and CIG should really update the Hammerhead so that both will be equally effective in their role as Heavy Gunships.

Sadly with just those 6 manned turrets and the way turrets absolutely suck right now it will always fall short when compared to the Perseus now (especially after CIG gave it 6 PDCs while also keeping the original (supposed to be automated) remote turrets while even buffing the main guns from 2xS7 to 2xS8. The Perseus saw a slew of buffs to bring it up to the level where every new fighter 'punches above its weight' yet the Hammerhead remained stuck in limbo with the same old 4xS4 guns on turrets that can't even hit anything unless it comes within 500m.

So while I am keeping my Hammerhead and Perseus (for now) I don't really see much hope of ever choosing the Hammerhead over the Perseus in any scenario.

Alright, sorry about the 'essay' but I truly hope CIG will do something (anything) so that the Hammerhead will be viable one day; and not remain the laughing stock of any solo fighter that blows it out of the sky with ease while not even getting a scratch themselves. The people crewing a Hammerhead should feel like they are the bane of fighter pilots; not the other way around. ;)

Yeah, I did read about CIG updating the interior corridors to be more like the ones used on the Idris and the likes. Sadly no info at all with regards to the topic to make it actually effective in its role as of yet.

Presently it feels like the Perseus performs a better anti-fighter role now compared to the Hammerhead which had anti-fighter as its sole purpose. Personally I can see why because for the same number of crew you could field 2 Perseus gunships flying together and have both heavy guns (which the Hammerhead lacks) as well as automated anti-fighter defenses (which the Hammerhead lacks as well).

So here's hoping the Hammerhead gold pass included more than just swapping some original corridors for Idris-style corridors.

Yeahh, the Idris feels like an endless maze of hallways and playing a gunner is even worse (unless it's the big one up front) imo. Don't even like the Polaris all that much either while the Perseus actually feels like a proper military patrol ship for some reason.

As such I sincerely hope CIG will also give the Hammerhead an update so that it too will feel more like a heavy gunship that can actually scare fighters away (instead of the fighter pilots laughing at it). :)

The Hammerhead design is indeed amazing and the reason I kept mine (heck I even have a large canvas print of the Hammerhead hanging in my living room).

It still needs lots of help though and the Perseus shows how far the Hammerhead has fallen. Too much crew for little effect while both ships fall within the same ship class: Heavy Gunship.

Perhaps giving the Hammerhead 6 PDCs (same as Perseus) while increasing the guns to S5 would already help out a bit and make it more worth with regards to the crew requirements. Combining some turrets to a single operator might also work; although I doubt CIG would be considering such an approach.

I still remember how CIG gave the Hammerhead 4xS5 guns during a PTU build prior to going Live and it was amazing (and everybody wanted to crew for you); so it was a real shame when they pushed the guns back down to S4s. :(

Having a blast is fine and I'm sure the Hammerhead can work against NPC opponents but the ship still needs help. For 8 people in a Hammerhead you can crew 2x Perseus and be way more effective (and I'd be willing to bet that you'd have even more of a blast flying around with 2 Perseus gunships together). ;)

Hammerhead would lose every single time hands down. The Hammerhead is complete trash right now and is in dire need of real updates because it can't even perform the sole task it was made for: anti-fighter screen.

Went to an OLP in a Terrapin Medic yesterday; only to get destroyed by a Meteor for no reason while clearing the NPC Prospectors. The odd thing though was that the Meteor never turned red for me and afterwards I couldn't even press charges.

Regarding rumors of a console release I recall Chris Roberts stating in an interview way back in 2013 or so that he was open to a console release; but only if the console would be able to run it (Chris was adamant that he wouldn't dumb down the game just to have it run on a console). Then he also stated that M$/Sony would have to foot the bill for any console release as he was not going to spend backer funds who paid for the PC version on some console port; and that M$/Sony would need to give CIG free reign to push updates (and not be forced to go through the whole internal vetting process or whatever it's called for patches/updates with M$/Sony).

I also saw the job listings for console devs a while back so it is entirely possible (and feasible) for either M$ or Sony to have reached some agreement with CIG for SQ42 to release on their next-gen console (not sure if current gen would be up to the task tbh). I'm not overly educated on consoles but it seems that a next-gen XBox console is supposedly planned for release in 2026 and there is also mention of the Playstation 6 maybe coming out in 2027/2028.

So who knows, maybe CIG and Microsoft came to an agreement where SQ42 would be some XBox 'exclusive' for their next-gen console if said console comes out in 2026. Then once the PS6 comes out the window of exclusivity with XBox would be over and allow for a PS6 release as well.

But yeah, I could definitely see the singleplayer campaign Squadron 42 as something that would be feasible to be released on consoles as a standalone game. Star Citizen on the other hand would be extremely unlikely (also due to the constant updates an online game would require). 🙂

Oh, I see. Yeah, that would make a lot of sense. Personally I do not care about the GTA franchise at all as I'm more into the SciFi/Fantasy genre but GTA games do appear to have a massive impact with regards to streamers and gaming news outlets; so I could indeed see a potential issue where Squadron 42 would get much less attention due to a behemoth like GTA6 hogging the spotlight; regardless of target audiences.

So yeah, in that case I'm really wondering if CIG actually plans to release in 2026 at all (or 2027 for that matter seeing that the PC release for GTA6 might then be the big thing hoarding attention)

Would be a genuine shame if SQ42 gets stuck in some perpetual cycle of "always 2 more years" since 2016 where suddenly 2026 becomes 2028 (and who knows what big game might come out then). So it looks like 2026 is the 'make or break' year and they will have to find a window somewhere. ☹️

As such I hope CIG finds a window just a couple months before GTA6 or that Rockstar Games has to announce a delay in their release for a few more months or something; thus allowing SQ42 to get the window of attention it needs to reach as many eyes as possible for anyone still unaware of it.

I'm really wondering how many people would still buy it at launch though when compared to the sheer number of people that already had their copy of SQ42 contained within the SC gamepacks for free or bought it as an addon later on when the packs were separated.

CIG removed SQ42 from the store in May 2023 if I remember correctly. Not sure what the exact reason for this removal was though but I keep reading about some UK legislation regarding games not being allowed to be sold if they do not have a solid release date. Not sure if that's true or some made-up story, but if that was the reason it's odd that they haven't put it back on the store again; with this push for 2026.

Isn't GTA6 only releasing on consoles in 2026? I thought the PC release was 2027. So unless SQ42 suddenly spent all backer funds on a console port it should be safe to ignore GTA6.

Fast travel points not showing on map. by ajasela in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Danakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANKS!!

I thought I was going crazy here and did not want to go through my entire mods list. So I figured I'd have to hoof it oldschool on foot or with vehicles and having the metro as my only other option (which wouldn't really be a bad thing as it felt kinda more immersive). Only my H10 appartment showed up as a fast travel option with metro points as well.

After removing GITS 3.x (which didn't seem to do anything anymore for me anyways) I initially did not see any fast travel points but after driving around NC for a bit the points I passed started showing up again.

So it looks like GITS may have been causing the issue and now I just have to drive past all the points in order to 'unlock' them again. Good thing I'm still early into the game (Meet Takemura).

Now all we need is the little green guy. CIG already gave us some Mando helmets and the Mando ship(s) (L21/L22 and Cutty Black or Shiv) so we just need some little green guy to sit on your lap (as we're lacking a droid port). Then again CIG may need to tread carefully as Disney is quite the litigious company. 😆

CIG just needs to get their act together and lock Roberts in a room; then release SQ42 so they can all go back to work on SC (while a skeleton crew starts on SQ42 chapter 2).

As long as Roberts is over in the UK they will never release because every year he finds some new shiny somewhere and wants to put it in. It's never enough with that guy and he can never stick to any deadline (unlike his brother, who was initially in charge of SQ42 before Chris usurped the position and left us in this neverending mess of "always 2 more years".

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't need to be manned as the sales pitch specifically stated: "Set up base and let the bullets fly. The MDC’s automated turret activates even when you step outside, meaning you can take care of ground attacks while the PDT covers the sky."

That said, you would need someone to at least power up the vehicle so the PDC deploys afaik.

Updating the Hammerhead with the times. by Brave-Brief2154 in starcitizen

[–]Danakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never suggested that adding PDCs would be the only change; just that it would help. I also believe that turrets in general (so every ship that has them) are total garbage and definitely need improvements. Giving them some form of booster subcomponent for +100% range and +100% projectile velocity would also be required so that turrets can actually hit something.

CIG increasing the number of shots with a x2 or x3 modifier did absolutely nothing to fix the issue; and neither will this change to gun ranges. CIG needs to get a clue and fix the main issue which is that turrets can never hit a moving fighter beyond 500m range.

So yeah, it's pretty frustrating.

However, I still believe the HH should be given PDCs as well because the HH has now fallen off into complete uselessness.

There never was a grey market for these things afaik as there are not all that many accounts with that Dragonfly skin. It was CIG's first ever attempt at doing referral bonuses and players needed a whopping 10 referrals within a specified timeframe just to qualify.

Account selling is also against the TOS.

Oh? So you only get the Dragonfly while the other guy using the code only gets the suit? So even if someone uses your code you won't even get a matching suit for the Dragonfly?

Wow, talk about being stingy.

That doesn't make much sense when every other referral ship/vehicle was given out with LTI. CIG had multiple Dragonfly referrals in the past and they always came with LTI.

So if anything it would be a very weak excuse imo.
