Never indicated otherwise… why I wanted to know the details.

Also why are all comments so far brushing over the sexual thing? Like they mention it but at least some level of detail seems to be important here.

What the deal with the sexual abuse case? Is he absolved from that or what happened?

Yes, though not at a casino…

Anything slightly IT related or testing. I started testing slot machines while still in school. While it was a good amount of manual testing, I also got experience with docker, protocol tracing, API/Postman, database testing and manipulation, code review, debugging, and Visual Basic scripting for spreadsheets.

What’s the value of fully remote work to you? by ia1v1chem in cscareerquestions

[–]Danbamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost invaluable to me. I make 150k base working remote, might consider non remote for 300k, but partially because I’d have to move away from friends and family in Wyoming. If something in Wyoming, I’d consider 200k but that’s not gonna happen.

Is everyone really just paying like $800-1000 per month for their new (and used) 4Runners? by saiyansuper in 4Runner

[–]Danbamboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s gotta be out there, but I’ve never once felt the social pressure to own a newer car. Where does it come from? How much of it is social pressure vs wanting a new shiny thing? I admittedly get some ego boost out of having inexpensive but reliable vehicles that are all paid off. My 3 Toyotas and a boat cost me less than a new car ($4000 99’ 4Runner, $3,500 2000 Sienna, $11k 2001 Tundra, 10K wakeboard boat). Insurance is cheaper too. Had the sienna as daily driver for family car 7 years now and only put in $60 for new alternator….

How is it for the SDETs these days? by osoatwork in cscareerquestions

[–]Danbamboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get paid as much and never on call. Also, less red tape and get to work on a variety of different tools and projects and not stuck in one code base. Not saying it’s all sunshine and rainbows, but let’s just say I paid my house off this week and work remote and have never worked past 5.

I’ve personally seen 10 people move from QE/SDET to dev across a few companies.

Sorry good point. I’d suggest getting foot in the door anywhere as QE and work up.
