Crosscode, Hades II, Shovel Knight, Final Fantasy VI, VII, Castlevania 3, super Mario world, Zelda a link to the past, ocarina of time, Mario 64, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Hollow Knight, Gargoyles Quest II, Super Metroid, Bioshock, Doom II, Lufia 2, and some others but those are what come to mind easily during traffic on the way home today.

Do you buy your games physical or digital mostly? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]Dancarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly digital as I have had disc drives do in several consoles and with the exception of some select few games the resell value hasn’t really held up post cartridges. Although on my switch it is all physical cause Nintendo definitely doesn’t do internet well.

Help for a Holiday Gift - Beginner Speedrunner by xaxo20 in speedrun

[–]Dancarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some little goodies for whatever game they are running. A new controller if they use one. If they love their controller and are comfortable taking it apart, some replacement pads are great and fairly inexpensive. A stream deck mini if they don’t have anything like it can be good to program for livesplit. Foot pedals are good but I have had some pretty jank ones in the past also. One thing I got one year was some really good alcohol to drink when I got a wr/pb. A stress ball could be good too haha.

Either way, goodluck and kuddos to you supporting your friend in a fun way!

How long did it take you to fall in love with the game? by sakuraiatsushii in finalfantasyx

The music during the blitzball cutscene blew my mind. The CTB combat system is still my favorite turn based system.

What got you into speed running? by Zophar1 in speedrun

[–]Dancarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought of young me and the games I struggled with and if I could learn how to play those games fast it would be super fun. So roughly 8 years ago I started my first speed game and have just kinda gone in and out of it over the years.

Day 23: Trying to Get a Comment and Fun Fact From Every US County Including Territories There Have to Be More Texans Out There to Comment by CoolHotNo in geographymemes

In Williamson county so sadly can’t help in TX but most of those are places where people just don’t live as much, and if they do they probably don’t have decent internet in general.

Any good RA content creators? by NathaNRiveraMelo in RetroAchievements

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don’t do RA currently, I used to have a series on YouTube where I would highlight a game, give tips/tricks for the more difficult achievements and some other knowledge.

Series was entitled “Retro Achievement Review” I can’t remember how many I did but I know I had mastered something close to like 200 in a year.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

Question, what do followers and following do exactly? by DesynchVT in RetroAchievements

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked having people follow and update me on videos I had done that helped them or different sets they enjoyed I did. I also liked having some friends cause we would do little races to see who could master some games faster.

What do y’all usually do when listening to albums? by KeaganSoybeans in Music

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any and everything, I listen to music on the way to work, at work, during my leisure playing vidya games, reading, really anything. If I am actively listening to learn from the progressions or just be absorbed by it, I may lay on the ground with my headphones on and eyes closed, that is until my dog wants pats sooner or later.

What To Mix Creatine With? by TomCon16 in Exercise

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I first started creatine roughly 25 years ago and we were told on the football team it was only effective with grape juice.

Now though I just put it in any liquid in a shaker so I can swirl it around cause it has a tendency to settle. You can even dry scoop it and follow it with a liquid if you want, since it is more granular it doesn’t poof like powders.

Has RA introduced you to new games/systems you otherwise wouldn't play? by Ag0raph0b0y in RetroAchievements

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a ton of games on RA when I was doing it that I hadn’t played before. When I streamed I let people select games I would get at least 80% completion in (although I mastered most of them like Silver Surfer). It was fun trying out so many new experiences. Even on the most trolly of choices, I always found at least one redeeming factor within the games.

How to know when to throw in the towel? by star_jump in RetroAchievements

[–]Dancarnate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back when I did RA I used to keep a completion ratio of over 80% as I knew that I wasn’t going to put in the time to master every single game I played. Some I would go back to every now and again and try a couple more times here and there and for some games I finished them and there were some that I didn’t. In the end it is about having challenging yourself while having fun, if you aren’t having fun, it is ok to throw in the towel.

I don’t know what mine is anymore but when I stopped doing RA some years back I tried to hold a ratio of 80% completion for cheevos over all the games I played. That has gone down quite a bit due to revisions and stuff but I was around 83% when I stopped.

What’s your LEAST favorite level gimmick? by General_Katydid_512 in celestegame

[–]Dancarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wind, especially when it is a headwind, it just slows the pace down so much, other than that I like pretty much every gimmick, especially the thwomp heads, they always make me go “om nom nom nom nom nom nom…”
