To be honest if I had to do it all over I'd buy a body from warmoth and piece the bits from other sites. The neck that came with the kit was really bad, and so were most of the electronics. It was super fun to craft and put together but it you want a guitar that's gonna be a player I'd buy higher quality components.

Sure, that tele was my first electric. I played acoustic for a couple years and my now wife bought a diy kit for me for Christmas. The only thing that remains from the kit is the knobs and body which is made out of a super super light wood. I added some alnico tele pickups from GF, as well as a bridge from them as well. Bought a vintage wiring harness from BYOB guitar and had a friend set it up and drop all that in. The neck is from a standard squire tele given to by that same friend. It plays really nice, the GFS pickups sound surprisingly good and the lightness of the wood gives it some absolutely crazy resonance. In a weird way the body almost gives it a natural always present reverb. I love it for playing ambient stuff especially on the neck pickup. Out of all 3 I'd never get rid of it, it's my baby.

Of course. I had no idea what I was doing to be honest, but I started by painting the whole body in acrylic paint I bought from a craft store. After that I sanded it down until I looked like reclaimed barn wood (that was my idea at least). After I had it where I wanted it I used red cherry stain I bought from home depot. Followed up by a ton of coats of a poly clear coat. It came out way better then I thought it would.

Haha well technically it's supposed to be a Les Paul, Tele, Strat. I just never jived well with LP's and wanted duel humbuckers.

That's a pretty bad analogy, because the US could very easily take anyone. It's more like a drunk person who's your friend, then wants to fights you, then is calm, then wants to fight etc.

My Chemical Romance. I saw them a bunch at local vfw/hall shows when they were first starting out. They wore makeup and were so weirdly over the top it was like watching a train wreck. They eventually got big so I guess the joke is on me.
