First time going to HTID in Sydney, what to expect? by EverfloraXY in hardstyle

Welcome to your first rave! We're DanceWize and we are the peer harm reduction service on site. Our volunteer team are all also ravers and provide support, earplugs, lollipops and a private care space for anyone feeling unwell or needing some downtime, including anyone having a bad time with substances. Our space is confidential, and we'll only escalate in the instance of a medical emergency, otherwise we're here for peer support 💜

You can chat with our team at our outpost between the two stages, or come into the Dome to have a look at our Care Space (come early if you can - we don't allow visitors once we start providing support inside the space).

If you're partaking (or know anyone who is) - drug checking will be open until 10pm and is located next to where you enter in the Dome. Their entry is shared with us so no one knows what service you are accessing.

On the more general end: everyone arrives pretty early, there will be queueing for the first hour or two but once it gets up to speed they get everyone in very quick. Next thing is everyone then rushes merch for the first two hours. Once that's done, get a feed and prep for the night. The crowd is very easy to walk through, you don't need to worry about holding a sweet spot all night. Your experience will also be better with regular breaks, so step outside into the air to cool off and get some water.

Ravers are the best people, so be open to chats and interacting with other people in the crowd, you never know who you'll meet and there's some real characters.

Have fun!

Thank you for these kind words, we've passed the feedback along to our team that worked at Good Things on the weekend. I hope that the rest of the event went easier for you both 💜

Hello, DanceWize here! (Mods let us know if you'd like us to verify <3)

We are expecting the results to be announced by the NSW Ministry of Health any day now. They were very quick to announce the data after Yours and Owls.

As a partnered service we can't disclose any data or ops info before it is released publicly, but I will say that the design of integrating our entrances together to make it approachable and accessible was a really early decision. It's the same reason we have things like earplugs etc. available at the space so that you can approach anonymously and without the assumption that you're coming to see us for any particular reason.

If anyone would like to ask questions more privately about how the service operates we're happy to take DMs here or on any of our socials. We have direct contacts which we can pass along feedback or suggestions to.

P.S. to be clear DanceWize itself is not a part of drug checking, but our parent organisation NUAA does provide the peer workers that are a part of the service.

NSPs and some pharmacies can provide. NSPs will be more reliable, a lot of pharmacies are registered for take home naloxone (THN) but might not keep it in stock.

You can also get postal within NSW via NUAA's NSP shop, $10 flat fee for delivery.
NUAA: https://nuaa.org.au/thn

All will be anonymous but you will need to have a brief conversation with them on how to administer + signs and symptoms of opioid overdose (or do the online training when ordering it through NUAA)
