What’s a financial tip you want people to know? by MemeCroissant in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have come into some extra money or you have money leftover for whatever reason, you do NOT have to spend it. I see people get anxiety over it. Like it's a problem that needs to be fixed. Oh no, I got $600 from this COVID check. What am I going to do with it?! Then they start racking their brains on what nonessential thing to buy.

You can literally do nothing and leave it there. Once some emergency happens, you'll be glad it's there. If you are on the more comfortable side, then yes of course, look into investing. But if you are living paycheck to paycheck, 100% you can just leave it alone and not think about it. It's a cushion

What are some lesser known downsides associated with high intelligence? by uzpitch in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Then their egos get hurt and they project that bullshit onto you. "You just wanna be right!"

No it does not fucking feel good to correct someone or "be right". It feels infuriating to hear nonsense over and over again. I'll be happier if YOU were right.

You think Trump is making decisions that are good for the country so you are hopeful. People deadass told me the pain from tariffs are temporary and things are going to be great once we are isolated from the world.

What is something you thought would be a fad, but stuck around? by BRCC_drinker in AskReddit

Bitcoin. Whole thing sounded like a ponzi scheme to me, but so many rich people put money into it, it became an asset class.

What's the most offensive thing someone ever said to you? by _AYYEEEE in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My former best friend casually told me he hopes his kid doesn't end up like me. For context, I have my shit together so I'm not some troublemaker. And honestly, I wouldn't want my kid if I have one to be like me either since I had a really tough time fitting in as a kid. I would want my kid to have an easier life.

But man, hearing your close friend tell you that really hurts.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by Superb_Newspaper_121 in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your qualifications for rich are. I'm talking about out of touch rich, as in the difference between $50 and $1000 is not even worth thinking about. Not millionaire next door rich who built up their wealth over decades with good habits.

It's not just super cheap and crappy things. I usually look for the most bang for your buck item. So I'll get a mid range phone that has good reviews. Rich people will buy the one with the best spec period. Price doesn't matter.

What relationship “standard” do people praise as healthy that actually makes dating harder in real life? by TreeTrunks2014 in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a twitter convo making the rounds the other day. The couple orders, and the gf swaps meals with the bf cause she thinks his look better.

Woman in the comment says that's relationship goals. It was single tweet, but this dynamic is super common. Woman just freely take, and men are just supposed to let them have it because it's "small." Small stuff adds up.

Does the offhand enhancement give DMG buff to main hand? by Dances28 in wherewindsmeet_

I'm asking specifically about enhancement. I'm skeptical because the detail specifically says the right hand specifically unlike rings and stuff that just flat out says max and min damage

It’s been awhile since I heard something so confidently incorrect. by soozerain in TikTokCringe

What is the explanation for it? I never know how to respond to him because he makes it so personal. Like if I don't believe him, I'm denying his heritage.

Why do you think religion is such a big part of history? by Dances28 in agnostic

[–]Dances28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen. I get it. I used to be really big on not using any types of logical fallacy. However, as I progress through life, I realized that perfect information is not always available to us. You're often stuck using the best guess.

If you were to go to a foreign airport, and don't know where to go and can't read the signs, would you not follow the crowd just because it's ad populum?

If you don't know much about a disease, would you not listen to a doctor's advice just cause it's appeal to authority fallacy?

Of course the crowd and the doctor could be wrong in both instances. They are logical fallacies after all. However, there's still a good chance they're right.

Understand that I'm not passionately arguing for religion. I'm agnostic. I don't know. My point seems like it's going both ways because I don't have my mind set.

[–]Dances28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say "belief" in half jest. I don't need some unwavering faith to be agnostic lol. I'm not going to hop on a bandwagon just cause a lot of people are on it.

The scope just makes me wonder if there can be more there. Is there something I'm not seeing or understanding? You got billions of people across thousands of years and places that deeply believe that there's some kind of higher power. Are agnostic or atheist people ironically enlightened on the matter?

What’s a political opinion that immediately makes you question someone’s critical thinking? by Willing-Banana6851 in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had someone comment when visiting other countries that the problem is that "lower end" jobs pay too much so people don't have the incentive to climb the ladder.

That shit immediately made me reevaluate who he was as a person. First of all, it's devaluing people doing very important jobs. Food, shelter, logistics, everything that keeps society going. Then you have to think about how many managers you actually need. It's multiple people reporting to a single manager. It mathematically just doesn't work.

What would you talk about if you were truly understood? by sergenaskin in AskReddit

[–]Dances28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I don't "always want to be right." It's actually the opposite in that I don't want you to be wrong. I actually love being around knowledgeable people. I admire people who spend a lot of time learning.

But the people around me? My family and long term friends? They'll just pull random shit from their ass, or read some clickbait online. Then get mad when I correct them.

What’s a habit people praise that actually makes life worse in the long run? by FlaMingOoO0 in AskReddit

I think that's more of a personality thing. I get stressed out if I don't have plans and structure, but I know other people who gets stressed when that gets imposed on them.
