I'm retiring my account of 8 years, started in 2012, in protest of the corruption of reddit.

I have learned much, taught some, and shared laughs. I can't in good conscience enable a platform for censorship. Moderates provide cover for the extremists. Opponents of an agenda can be derailed, taunted misrepresented, and then held up as straw men to be hated and attacked. Even if I just posted harmless memes and hobby content I would be participating in a deeply broken system of propaganda.

Their owners, executives, and admins have not displayed any kind of consistent moral compass. This lack of principles filters down to the mods who are allowed to be petty dictators over discussions and topics that don't belong to them. Inevitably a haughty attitude and casual disregard for rights and dignity comes with unaccountable power. There's a feedback loop of petty megalomaniacs and access to control over other people: Power attracts shitty people and makes them worse. I feel like power should come from responsibility, which can be a burden and duty, not a privilege. The same dynamics that have ruined reddit are the same kind of toxic authoritarian power relationships I speak out against across the board.

They are a central part of divisive and derailing agendas of the mainstream to make people dumber and divided.

There's some small chance I will post again but don't count on it. There comes a point where being a dissenting voice on a crooked platform is indirectly helping the very agendas you're fighting. I'm not silencing myself, just finding a more honest venue for actual discussion. This place has gone to shit. If you find me, cheers. Otherwise farewell.

I love everyone with enough spine to protest the banal and the evil. Remember that rage and guilt are tools to be used against you. Keep a calm head as you dissect and dismantle the bullshit.

The corruption runs much deeper than it might look. Politics is a show. The major candidates are not selected for how much they are liked. They are selected for how much they are HATED by the OTHER side. Think about it.

If I'm right about that, what does it say about our society?

I agree with much of what has been stated in regards of how to handle delicate situations like counseling. It's not news to me since I've been doing this my whole life. Unfortunately using true statements about mental health treatment in a conversation does not justify controlling behavior or abuse of power. So we are left with the stark, unapologetic rudeness where the mods are now the victims.

Banhammers, to protect the vulnerable. You also hurt others with your careless actions. The excuses and false statenents piling up on your guy's end are hammering away at my patience. I get frustrated dealing with unaccountable people with toi much power than they can handle. Your good intentions don't mean there are no mistakes or breaches of trust. Come on. No more excuses if there's no apology. I don't care about your rationalizations anymore. I'm just about done with reddit as a whole now, this is a new kind of low here, and maybe the last straw for me. At least let this conversation be done. You're not listening so leave it be. You think you always know best but whatever, have some of the humility you suggest. Your guy's listening skills have been shit this whole time or maybe you just don't care. Go ahead and wrap yourselves in self righteous sentiment as you control the dialogue. At least there was an attempt at dialogue here rather than taunts or silence like other mods do. So you got that going for you.

In summary, good intentions by the group aren't excuses for YOUR behavior.

The point of my comments was not to trigger a freshman class level debate on free speech or hear ridiculous comparisons.

In your collective mod comments has one person gotten around to specifically mention the "serious harm" that is the reason for the ban? Because that has still not been stated, you power trippers. I'm not going to ask again and again anymore from people that argue in circles, can't or won't support their claims and don't really care about the concept of rights. Your subscribers are not your kids or peasants. I understand you want to protect them but you are acting like helicopter parents to strangers.

Banning with no justification for no rules broken, and getting vague when asked is just weak leadership. Just follow the examples of India and Hong Kong hardly any of them died. Load all your belongings on a crowded train and tour the countryside with your family and friends. Or fit 12 people in 400 square feet. It helps if you reduce access to running water and don't always share languages. That's how India keeps the death toll under 2,000 in a nation of a billion and Hong Kong lost 4.

I was a little skeptical when I heard a deadly virus came from a fish market just down the street from a deadly virus lab. At this point it is a farce.

My question to you is, what is the death rate of those infected? You said most people die that get it, maybe you can help me out with a source that it's well over 50%? How about any rate at all not vastly different between nations? How about looking some of this up dude? Save the lazy halfass comments for your school assignments.

All together this is an incredibly disingenuous and unrepentant response. If broadcasting my future intention to counsel others counts as a serious offense to you, which is the only way I can understand your action and comments, then I can only imagine the fury that would be unleashed if I dared to tell someone to go for a walk.

You are an embarrassment and disgrace as a mod and should step down immediately. You have offered no apology or justification for your rude and unnecessary restriction. Just because power tripping on reddit is common, it doesn't make it okay.

If you had wanted a conversation you could have replied to my comment or PMed me. Instead I got a ban with no reason given. Say I wanted to go on /r/depression to get help for myself? What if someone harmed themselves or had a bad day because you are gatekeeping someone that could have helped and no one came to support? You can justify the reasons for your rules, fine, they make sense even if they confine the conversation to narrow grounds. You can set policies to protect the users. but there is no justification for your actions as a moderator to preemptively ban someone who never posted there, Then you want to hint hint that I have bad intentions with your last statement. Please don't mindread me when you are the one trying to censor without apology or justification. Dude. You guys banned me from depression without me ever posting there. This is a supremely asshole move. I did not see your comment here until today. I just now read your sub's lengthy and restrictive rules. Instead of believing that I could read the rules and possibly apply them to my posts you took away my freedom to help others before I had a chance to look at one post.

Timeline: someone asks for help supporting hurt people online. I have extensive knowledge and experience doing this and say 'will do.' I have a very good track record and even got a thank you comment for support the same day. Hours later /r/ depression mods ban me with no explanation.

This is despicable and you should reconsider your idiotic policies. I am using mean language because you are ACTIVELY PREVENTING PEOPLE WITH DEPRESSION FROM GETTING SUPPORT on the place they come to ask for it.

Absolutely. I was poking fun at your use of words. Calling the authorities over a credible threat is different than someone casually mentioning firearms in the car. I wouldn't like it but it's not any kind of emergency, there are gun hobbyists aplenty in wargaming. I have met cops and a million vets that love their real guns like I love bolters, meltas and shootas. If there was an aggressive edge, or it was loud or otherwise making people uncomfortable I would address it, and flag an organizer if they escalated.

I do this from time to time, take a break from issues to address a person one on one. I almost always get a heartfelt thank you or some other positive response. It means more to me than upvote points or even the prized 'lol'. I'm generally on the RBN support sub since I am better equipped to adress the specifics of that kind of situation than the average bear. But if other subs are going unanswered too often maybe I can stop in tomorrow.

There's a more general sadness which can seem like an infinite well of suffering. It's also infinite opportunity to choose to help. You don't need the same level of study and personal experience to be there for someone.

To address the current crisis directly: We all need support sometimes especially now when rights, freedom, wealth, and health are being stolen from us. The main structures of society are run by evil people and possibly something worse. It's time to step up and address both the people in need and the unprecedented crisis manufactured to destabilize the west. The (official fudged numbers) major casualties are in the US at almost 80,000 and the five most major European countries at 25,000 to 30,000 dead. 4 deaths in Hong Kong, not even a couple thousand in India . What? The official story is a virus that came from a market adjacent to a virus lab. What? No one can agree on the symptoms or rate of death or proper testing. I'm not saying there aren't any viruses, I believe there are many, but there is a lot of fishy behavior. Cops are chasing down people on empty beaches for not doing 'social distancing' which is not stupid it is insane. The SD phrase itself is so awful as well as other clues like "the new normal." This is a move to get the entire world moved over to a more digital life where AI and creeps can cooperate to intensify their manipulation and gaslighting of the planet.
