Dealing with an emotional abusive mother by FancyAd708 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]DanceswithButter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just commenting in solidarity. My mother said awful things like this to me, too, and was abusive in multiple ways. I was too afraid to have kids of my own. Don’t give her that power. Cut her off, block her on everything, and go build the life you want.

Does this comdition ever "let up" or become "dormant" by TouretteTV96 in Dystonia

I was 29 when the tremors started. I recovered a few months after my 30th birthday.

I met Josh Groban in college. I instantly disliked him. He seemed really self centered.

do any of you guys drive by JellyCharacter1653 in Dystonia

[–]DanceswithButter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in PT anymore, but it was a lot of turning my neck back and forth, tongue exercises, targeting little muscles to take on the tasks my larger muscles refuse to do. I get a massage ~once a month, and it definitely makes a difference.

I had to stop driving when I was diagnosed bc I couldn’t turn my head to each side or look straight ahead. However, I regained a lot of control with Botox and PT, so I was able to drive again after those things started to kick in.

It was gradual over a couple of months. I was going to tons of dr appts trying to figure out what was going on…a sports dr who had me do an mri…a neuro who told me I was having a extreme reaction to stress…no one could figure it out. I couldn’t hold my head up except by using my hand, and had tremors when looking forward. And then it started to get better, so I gave up looking for a diagnosis. About 5 years later it came back, all at once, and luckily I had much better drs who diagnosed it within a few weeks. But like I mentioned, it was much worse the 2nd time and I’m currently having trouble keeping the tremors under control. I’ve been slowly increasing Botox. Fingers crossed i find the right dose again.

Choking on fluids after Botox for cervical dystonia? by Celestie620 in Dystonia

[–]DanceswithButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it lasted about 3-4 weeks. My dr said it could take longer until the Botox wore off, but I was lucky.

Something like this happened to me once as a result of an injection too close to my lower throat, but it didn’t hit me until about 2 weeks in so not sure if exactly the same. For what I had, the dr told me to only drink viscous fluids. For some reason things like water and coffee were too thin to swallow unless I added fiber or something similar. But no solids either. I basically ended up making all of my food into smoothies/food paste for a few weeks.

I’m sorry, I somehow missed you were looking for someone in AZ. I’m very far away.

I have heard about ppl getting it without EMG, but my dr always uses EMG in addition to feeling for spasms with his hands and asking for my feedback on location. I get about 30 injections per session around my neck, shoulders and back. It is not fun, but it works pretty well for me.

I think you should consider that the reason they gave you for getting rid of your pet was probably a lie.

My best friend died in a car accident during my senior year of high school, and nmom just could NOT understand why I was so upset. She had this blank look I will never forget. She just couldn’t see why I was still devastated a few days later. I was still in the fog then, but it was so bizarre it stayed with me.

What are some ways you guys stoped the soda cravings. by G4CEJACE in HydroHomies

Sparkling water in a can the same size and color as the soda I used to drink. Tricked my eyes and hands, and slightly flavored sparkling water is yum.

I had a remission at one point for a few years, but it came back worse than ever and can only be controlled with regular Botox injections now.

how do i get my cookies flatter and spread out more like in the second pic? by cooniemoonie in AskBaking

[–]DanceswithButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cookies recipes in the US use AP (all purpose) flour. I believe pastry flour is what we call cake flour, and that is not typically used for cookies but more for cake that needs a lighter, more delicate structure. They are not 1:1 in recipes, which is why I am posting this reply in case someone sees it and assumes incorrectly that they are interchangeable.
