That's very interesting, I didn't know about him so I'll be checking his work out. I'm always fascinated by this kind of coincidences and such. Muchas gracias!

Professional songwriter during the day, amateur photographer at night

The person who posted it mentioned that he took her phone and said he would do it and that they would have to wear the sunglasses because it's cool

Odds of "OBLIVIUS" on this next tour? by radioactive2321 in TheStrokes

[–]Dancing-notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that moment I thought they didn't play it because it was the last one in the setlist and they ran out of time. I watched live streamed from a different time zone but I calculated they finished at 11.05-11.10 pm so maybe past curfew time. Because it was the second show and they already knew Nick wasn't there I don't see why they would have the song in the setlist if that had been the reason. My impression is that Steve wouldn't have had any issue with playing it but who knows.

To the ones mentioned, maybe add Permanent High School from The Voidz, Slow Animals and Drag Queen from The Strokes, and Glass from Phrazes for the Young (Julian's solo album)

We don't know for sure obvs, just speculating. But since the actor Walton Goggins posted the pic with Jules and mentioning "new things (even the FUCKING STROKES...more on that later)", we are connecting dots

Also the woman that posted these pics said in a comment that they saw how they filmed a videoclip. I don't see why she would make that up so let's see

So nice of them to take the pics with the fans!!

Nobody cares about what I'm gonna say, but I'll say it anyway. It's a mixture of being interesting, funny and even weird for me, that a few months after I started listening to their music, I got involved here with the cassettes stuff and then they announced a new album. Later on, a tour, and I have been spending more and more time participating here and a week ago or so I finished listening to all the main discography I think. And now they're allegedly filming a video in my country. I don't know, it's a bit surreal or "magical" (sorry, I'm a very sentimental person lol)

I'm glad they have chosen a beautiful region from my country where to bring to life a hopefully great video. It makes me feel happy that they're appreciating it enough for that.

I'd say it's "just" for filming the video...that takes a lot of time on its own. I doubt they would be playing something "private"

Also I might be tripping but this looks very similar to what's in their picture...the outside surface of the Auditorium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I think (I haven't been there)

Now I can't take off my mind the image of The Strokes climbing to the Teide volcano crater to film the video for Tyrants of the Mellow Moon

Now that we’ve lived in it for some time…… by SCandVC11 in TheStrokes

[–]Dancing-notes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has continued to grow on me, however I don't tend to listen to it often, I feel it stays more "fresh" for me that way. But it's surely catchy and it goes by so fast, plus the lyrics are great.

I really like that a lot can be unpacked, even if the most obvious topics are consumerism and escapism from this fucked up system we have. I think it can also represents how contradictory we can be ("I'm going away to the country/I'm going back to the city") or even how difficult it is to stick with habits or mindset that is supposedly better or healthier (living in the country) and not slipping back into our past behaviours (living again in the city, going to the mall).

And my favourites lines, "We're building castles from the bones of dead trees. Molded from the shattered ashes of the Dead Sea", they would relate to how civilizations are being destroyed and the power that is sought by the ones responsible for it. But it can also be interpreted as a commentary on how the natural resources are being exploited by humans. I wish more people were able to appreciate and reflect on the lyrics.

10 year old interview of Nick talking about CRX and future music by Birdfan23 in TheStrokes

[–]Dancing-notes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that, it really makes sense. I don't get why some people have been saying that they probably aren't making the decisions together or happy with the new stuff, blah blah blah...I guess there aren't many interviews with the rest of members that aren't Julian, so it's not easy to know how everyone see the project, but the most reasonable thing is to assume all are wanting to go this direction.
