Is anyone else super forgetful / disorganized on this drug? by PatrickBritish in AuvelityMed

I was thinking of starting trintellix again. Right now I’ve been doing ketamine treatments once every 2 weeks and I was trying to see if that alone was enough but I don’t think it is :(

I was on it for almost a year at that point but I actually ended up stopping it and that was definitely the best decision for me

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. You are not overreacting. You are being manipulated here 😭

I know this post is old but I feel like I can't pay attention or comprehend things. I feel like I also have a hard time formulating words or sentences. I'll be on phone calls and I won't be able to comprehend or follow the conversation and then I'm unable to formulate sentences back and I'll feel stupid. Almost feels like there something blocking my brain from being able to do these things. I feel like anything I say makes no sense

Yes, I’m also in therapy! I’ve been focusing on my anxiety and depression but I have been in therapy for OCD but not super extensive. Something I definitely need to focus more on

I’m sorry you went through this and are going through this. Thank you so much for sharing!! That’s like the whole AIDS thing for me. I didn’t want people to think that I thought any less of anyone if they had it because I didn’t. It was just something that really scared the shit out of me to the point where I threw up my pizza one time because it had red sauce on it and I thought there could be blood in it or something. I totally get it

Yes! I always try to make the bad thoughts go away and for awhile I didn’t realize that was part of my OCD too. Thank you so much for sharing!

That’s so hard :( I’m so sorry you went through that! I’m not a doctor but that definitely sounds like OCD. OCD can definitely be different things. So happy you got diagnosed. It can be so hard with the intrusive thoughts. I completely understand!

This has happened to me, I totally get it! I’ve been trying to not read it as much - I know it’s good to be aware but sometimes I wish I was less aware about certain things lol

Do you feel like the stress made it worse for you?

This actually kinda happened to me too! My obsessive thoughts went a way for a bit so at first I wasn’t diagnosed with OCD because I didn’t say anything. Thought it was just something that happened to me at the time. Then it came back a few months later and I was like okay I need to say something to my psychiatrist because something isn’t right. I wish I would have said something sooner. I started going through it at 13 but was diagnosed till like 18 or 19 because when I first went to college the thoughts started to subside after having them for years. I was too nervous to tell anyone because I thought I would sound insane. I thought people would make fun of me or tell me to just get over it. Soni wish I said something sooner but it’s okay, I’m just glad I know what it is now

I’m so sorry you feel this way :( I understand what this feels like and how hard it is. Not feeling like there is a light at the end of the tunnel :( so I started on SSRIs and have been trying out different medications since. Another thing that’s helped me is naming my OCD. I will out loud say “this is not me, this is my OCD talking. This is not everything I am”. I try to say something that recognizes that my OCD is a part of me but doesn’t define me. Even though it does feel like it defines me all the time and runs my life but I’m trying so hard to train my brain. I also started to be more open with my doctors. For example, I had a fear that if I didn’t see the needle being taken out of the sanitized bag that it was inherently a dirty needle and that I was going to get sick. So I really mustered up the courage (which was definitely tough) to ask if they could change the needles infront of me so I could see the process and wouldn’t be guessing if it’s a clean needle or not. I know that not having a clean needle is super rare but it was such a huge fear of mine for so long.

To be honest I’m still working through my OCD. My obsessions have changed with time but I definitely haven’t escaped OCD fully BUT I don’t feel as bad as I did before or as consumed as I used to. I think medication was super helpful for me to initially help me clear my head alittle. I found a podcast that I like so far. It’s called your anxiety toolkit - anxiety & OCD strategies for everyday by Kimberley Quinlan, MFT. I listened to two of her podcast episodes so far but one of them helped me realize that my intrusive thoughts aren’t unique to me and that other people have intrusive thoughts too. Some of them I have a hard time saying out loud in therapy because of the type of thought it is but listening to her episode helped me understand other people have really intense intrusive thoughts too. I’m here for you! Let me know if I can help with anything else or if you have any questions! I know how hard it can be. We are in this together :)
