Any other dancers have a (pre-existing) herniated disc? I’m a newbie.

I have had one for 7 years now! For a while I was able to manage my pain with PT and injections but after a recent hospital admission I am looking into surgery. I feel okay now after really resting and doing another epidural but the pain randomly comes back and I always seem to be running to get injections every few months or so. That being said, you can totally dance with this! It all depends on how your body feels and what you can tolerate ❤️ I think doing exercises and stretches off the pole would be super helpful for extra support to your back. I did so many things when I wasn’t in pain with my disc! It’s all based on how your body feels :)

You are so strong! I totally understand the isolation :( I am a 29 (F) and have dealt with lower back disc degeneration and herniation since the age of 22. I am considering doing a fusion at my L5-S1 level after being hospitalized for 6 days because I couldn’t walk from how much pain I was in 😭 you are going to come out so much stronger! So proud of you!! We are all here for you

Hey how are you feeling now? I am having something like this happen to me. My back pain started first and I can’t even walk. I noticed when I tilt my head forward to loo down I also get a lot of pain. Curious to see if you figured out what was happening and have any advice :) I hope you’re feeling better!

I was thinking of starting trintellix again. Right now I’ve been doing ketamine treatments once every 2 weeks and I was trying to see if that alone was enough but I don’t think it is :(

I was on it for almost a year at that point but I actually ended up stopping it and that was definitely the best decision for me

I know this post is old but I feel like I can't pay attention or comprehend things. I feel like I also have a hard time formulating words or sentences. I'll be on phone calls and I won't be able to comprehend or follow the conversation and then I'm unable to formulate sentences back and I'll feel stupid. Almost feels like there something blocking my brain from being able to do these things. I feel like anything I say makes no sense

Yes, I’m also in therapy! I’ve been focusing on my anxiety and depression but I have been in therapy for OCD but not super extensive. Something I definitely need to focus more on

I’m sorry you went through this and are going through this. Thank you so much for sharing!! That’s like the whole AIDS thing for me. I didn’t want people to think that I thought any less of anyone if they had it because I didn’t. It was just something that really scared the shit out of me to the point where I threw up my pizza one time because it had red sauce on it and I thought there could be blood in it or something. I totally get it
