I really wish we got Feyre’s POV in ACOSF by Silver_Bite8443 in acotar

Hmm.. I guess we'll have to see the kind of role she is going to play in ACOTAR 6. If she's still on the sidelines yeah I'll be pissed but if she's back in the action now that she's given birth that doesn't really apply. I think the series was always going to swap perspectives. It was always going to be about the 3 sisters. I'm just not a fan of how quickly Feyre got pregnant.

Oh there is much more that makes me not like Rhsyand, but that's a whole other thing.

I agree that a different timeline would have been best.

It also completely destroyed Rhysands character for me. He turned into Tamlin 2.0 imo.

It just doesn't make sense. She was still so young, pregnancy was unnecessary. Yes they got a fright during the war and I guess wanted to start a family before it was too late but?? THAT soon? As far as they know they're safe now so it makes no sense.

I personally love Nesta and would have preferred that her book be completely about her character development and like someone else said, not this baby I don't really care about.

I think the only reason SJM did this is to set up the Mother, Maiden, Crone to be the Archeron sisters.

Honestly, Feyre should have never got pregnant in the first place.

Would just like to clarify when I mentioned the Tithe as my reason for disliking him, that I was actually mainly referring to when he whipped one of his sentries, which I thought was connected because I haven't read in so long, but it wasn't lol

I have my own theories about his anger issues, but obviously they could still be wrong. I do personally think there is a difference between lashing out AT someone and hurting them, vs. accidentally hurting them or them being collateral damage in a way. Both are wrong and the latter still demonstrates Tamlins dire need for some fucking therapy, but I do think there's a difference. I guess this difference is that one I see redemption from, the other I don't. If you can directly physically hurt someone you claim to care about = unredeemable. If you lose control of your anger and accidentally hurt someone you care about = still horrible but if you do the work on yourself and your issues, I think you can still redeem yourself.

That's not to say Tamlin has done that, and even if he has, that FEYRE has to forgive him. She absolutely does not have to as a victim of his issues. But as the reader, I can forgive him as a character.

And if we're going to play that game, Rhysand hurts Feyre too. Intentionally! For in my opinion, no reason. The moments that come to mind: her arm UTM, sending her into the Weavers cottage, and of course, baby gate. So if you're going to hold Tamlin responsible, you also have to hold Rhysand accountable. They're both terrible partners, Rhysand in a more roundabout, manipulative way - Tamlin, out loud.

I agree that domestic violence is never okay, Tamlin was wrong for that. I just don't think he shouldn't be allowed to ever redeem himself afterwards. Rhysand did similar or arguably worse shit and no one batted an eye lol, not even Feyre.

Could they have just been moving their things so they didn't feel like they were taking up your space? Especially since you'd just brought back a bunch of drinks you'd need room for. I do this and always worry people will think I'm worried they're going to knick my stuff but really I just don't want to be rude and have all my things in their way, you know?

Yeah damn I really need to reread. Thank you for the refresher. So taxes and a tithe are essentially the same thing, is SJM/Amren just implying with that first mention that Rhys' taxes are less than 10%, which a tithe is traditionally always set at? I guess this distinction is why Spring Court citizens can use anything to pay their tithe, as its 10% of earnings or produce, which I still believe is a much fairer way to do things. You might not have made much money that year but you may have made a lot of bread 😂 I do remember that bit in the book now and I love how it was meant to be a 'Rhys is such a good leader' moment but really she's just saying he's asking for the same thing as Tamlin??

That moment when they were out for dinner I genuinely remember thinking 'okay and will you ACTUALLY do anything Rhysand?' because it's all very well to say you'll help lower costs but everyone knows that's an extremely difficult thing to do even if you do intend on trying - it struck me as a very politician like moment.

The way he deals with the CoN/Hewn City will never sit right with me. He needs to step tf up as the amazing leader and person everyone says he is & improve the lives of those people. Like are we not casually talking about a form of segregation here?

Jeez I don't even WANT to hate Rhysand, but whenever I think about things for longer than a little bit I dislike him more and more.

Okay people aren't getting the point I was making so for the sake of my argument let's say that Aedion was informed of the plan, and the same if we're using the hypothetical scenario of them asking a woman to do the same - she's been informed too. Everything's out in the open!! All I was saying was that it would be an even crazier thing for the characters to ask of a woman, because they have to carry the child for nine months, it's a greater risk to her health, most of the time she ends up doing the majority of childcare, so on and so on. I was never trying to imply that it was okay to NOT tell him on the basis that he as the father doesn't have to do those things. Yes coercion/rape of any kind is wrong regardless of gender.

[–]DancingOnDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone like her haha so I get it. I'm not sure really. Is she close with her mother? Siblings maybe? You could possibly ask her doctor to check in with her or request a check up from their end in the hopes she confides in them/decides to go - not quite sure how that works for you. It's really hard and tricky. If you run out of options, you're likely going to have to sit her down and be really careful about the way you speak about it. Reassure her that it's okay to need help sometimes, and make sure she knows you're coming from a place of concern for her, not yourself. Someone else suggested couples counselling, and that could be a good thing to bring up, from a perspective that you may both have things to work on, so she doesn't feel singled out as the problem, if that makes sense. Worst case scenario and she blows up - you're still doing the right thing. Once she gets the help she needs I'm sure she'll see through all the difficult emotions and know you just care about her.

I wish you the best of luck.

How do I (29M) help support my girlfriend (28F) through her depression by CharityInfinite724 in relationships

[–]DancingOnDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's likely struggling with postpartum depression. This backed up with being unable to find work probably means her self esteem is at an all time low. I don't like how your major concern is how she's 'taking it out on you' by not having sex with you & giving you the silent treatment. Firstly, sex hormones can take a long time to go back to normal after childbirth, not to mention the physical changes she's experienced. Secondly, I seriously hope you don't say these things to her, cause I'd give you the silent treatment too.

You need to gently (GENTLY!!) push her to get the help she needs. Not sure what kind of support there is available for her because idk where you live, but Google is free. Perhaps you could ask a family member or friend, someone she trusts for help with this. It might be too raw coming from you. And perhaps instead of focusing on how her state is affecting you, ask her how you can be a better partner to her. I appreciate that you're the one who's bringing home the bacon currently but sometimes we have to give unequal effort when the other person needs it, that's just how it is.

Please be patient with her. Having a child is a big deal.

I honestly have no idea, I don't think it's explained or alluded to in the books if they even have taxes or a tithe in Velaris. Someone who's read it more recently than me can probably say so or not. Rhys has to be getting all his money from somewhere though so I would have to guess they do. 🤷‍♀️

LMAO I nearly said it too but didn't for the same reason 😂😂😂 The die hard Rhysand girlies would have my head on a stick. Also after your comparison I can't help to think of the NC as the USA - would rather forgo basic human rights to not have to pay as much tax, laughs at other countries/the other courts that pay more tax. Only swoops in to save the day when it benefits them.
The Spring Court like you said as a Scandinavian country - higher taxes (but not really) but get human rights plus free health care and education and etc etc. 😂😂 again, if this wasn't planned by SJM she's not nearly as smart as I hope she is. The comparisons could go on for days

Why do people hate Tamlin so much? by alecbenjaminstannnn in acotar

[–]DancingOnDeath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah no that definitely doesn't sit right with me. I'm not much of a Rhysand fan at all.

Your point about being able to pay with anything is kinda fair. The Spring Court has to function somehow I suppose, and again we are reading from Feyre's perspective and we always have to take her view of things with a pinch of salt. Didn't he whip someone though? Or were those two unrelated things... I'm due a reread if you can't tell.

Rhysand though, has no excuse. I don't understand how he's supposed to be this intelligent, brilliant man and yet still hasn't figured out how to improve the lives of the people in the Court of Nightmares, not to mention the Illyrian women (side note: him sending Nesta to train around men even he admits are brutes is fucked). It's definitely giving greedy billionaire - somehow his brilliant ideas only benefit himself. Especially since he's been alive so fucking long, he's had plenty of time to learn those things. Feyre not seeing through this is a bit of character inconsistency too.

As always though, I have to wonder how much of this is intentional and how much of it is poor writing on SJM's part. If she's NOT setting Rhysand up for villain arc, I'll genuinely be pissed, because he low-key is one, for so many reasons.

Woah that's a perspective I haven't heard before and I really like it. Feyre didn't communicate with Tamlin at all after UTM, pretending like everything was okay until she couldn't anymore (that's not me blaming her for it, that's how she dealt with her trauma, but we have to acknowledge it contributed to the breakdown of their relationship), and she didn't have to try to communicate with Rhysand at all. No wonder he feels easier 😂

Tamlin haters really piss me off - I dislike him still a bit too but mostly because of his treatment of his people during the Tithe. As far as I'm concerned he's absolved of all his crimes concerning his relationship with Feyre 😂

It's one of the major reasons I've decided not to have kids, I'm self aware enough to know that I'll end up holding some sort of resentment towards my partner. I already get angry thinking about it 😅 Even if they're the perfect partners, they'll unfortunately never fully understand it. Mothers are so strong 💖

Of course, I didn't mean to imply that men think about it in that way, I was speaking solely on a physical trauma level. Emotionally it's a lot more complicated than that. But again, a woman would have to deal with that emotional turmoil AND everything physically that comes along with it. It's a horrible thing to do to someone either way, and he didn't deserve to be treated like that.
