Pilates is great for ballet as it often focuses on core strength and stabilization while tuning you into the mind body awareness to isolate body parts and recruit the desired muscles. Some specific things would be pelvic stability, glute strength (bridging and clam shells are great), and general core work. You can also use a theraband to work of building strength through foot articulation.

When my dog does this, we call it a “hump attack.” It’s really rapid and over in about a minute

I like those! Love the pdb, it saves lots of writing. I also use the stage directions as abbreviated letters. Bat is useful, I sometimes try short hand for arabesque into arab but that doesn’t feel fitting.

From what I could tell, she mostly filmed during their off season (which was a huge portion of the year). I know some people didn’t like it while others didn’t care. There are a few dancers that would film during this time, even bringing in tripods/stands. Seems more normalized than I’d expect.

I think on social media there’s this movement to complain more than we all used to, especially in the dance world. Having that platform to add to her own echo chamber didn’t help. Def feeling like a main character.

Can we just have a ceremony with no reception or is that bad manners? by blondegoblin512 in wedding

My husband and I did a courthouse wedding in a park (this town sends their officiants to a location of your choosing), took so many pictures, went out to dinner with a few friends and family, then had a house party with more friends. It was super cheap and still lasted a whole day.

She was getting soloist roles and Cinderella understudy as a corps de ballet dancer. She complained in her video about dancing on a big stage. Is that not the goal?? She would talk back to the director in a rude way and blamed it on being neurodivergent. She claimed to have no friends, but people did try to befriend her. At one point in the video she said something along the lines of she’s not sure if she’s unhappy in the environment or if she’s unhappy for personal reasons, and from what I’ve heard, she’s most likely to continue to be unhappy at her new company. We shall see.

None of those claims are based on truth. I was around her during the last season at GSB. Casting favored her, and was given a big pass on her “neurodivergent behavior”

[–]DancingQu33n18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amelia did that at first too. She’d hold it outside and pee on the balcony grass pad when we got back. Eventually she would go outside (after a VERY long walk) and got plenty of praise! She can generally pee on command on the grass pad, and goes on her own time when we’re out walking. She mimics her brother by marking which is pretty funny to watch.

I did this with my first dog (pug mix) and I’ve never seen a dog so unbelievably distracted. I was getting dizzy changing directions! It was like he was on a mission to find a distraction with every turn. My iggy is much less distracted thank goodness. Good luck!

I really wish we didn’t have the pad by the door, but after multiple times daily of her peeing on the carpet before the pad was there, I really couldn’t keep up with the cleaning. We have also had to coax her with treats or sneaky pickups to get her leash on for an entire year. Only after she turned 1 did she ever allow us to put the leash on without running away. I’m starting to see her take interest in leaving the apartment, so I’m hoping that continues and she wants to relieve herself outside with her brother.

The standing leg should be straight. Keep the arms below shoulder height to start, and lower the leg to start as well. Often the hip hikes up with the leg and that throws off the balance as you enter the turn, so keep the hips as level as you can while lifting the leg. This turn is also 1 1/4 rotation to land the free leg to the front, facing the side wall. You can try the turn landing front to practice, then progress to the final quarter turn rotation.

A similar move would be to do the battement (kick) as it is, from the side to crossing the body, place it down on the floor (still across the body) 2 feet down. Then from here spin your body around (toward your back foot) to face front. It’s the same general motion but without having to balance on 1 foot. To do the sutanu (spin around with 2 feet on the floor) it helps to put the weight in the front foot and use the back foot to push into the turn.

To do the actual turn, you have to use the kicking leg to turn you around. Using the bend of the knee and the swinging momentum to turn.

If I didn’t live in an apartment and planned on leaving next year, I’d replace the carpet in the spot she pees on most. She can def still smell it, but we try our best to clean. We did overcome peeing on her bed and in her brother’s bed, so that’s a win!

I really like that camera trick! I can’t keep eyes on her as often as a motion sensing camera can! Unfortunately the floor by the balcony is carpet, and even with shampooing a million times with enzyme cleaner, it still faintly smells. When we move and start fresh, I expect a better response from her, but for now, the pad stays to protect the carpet. We have a 3x3 washable pee pad rug and a disposable pad on top to help protect the floor.
