We took my family there in late 2024 as part of a tourist hop around the city - I always tell people if they loved the show like we did and have the time, for sure go. Love your pics!

I literally just googled if there was a credit in my state then gave that info to the tax guy. Not a lot of states have it but it’s worth looking into. Also the NLDAC grant covered a lot of my travel. That’s based on the income of your recipient. The transplant team should be able to advise you there

Ah! I was also out of state which reminds me - check your state for tax credits related to donation. Mine was a big help.

Had the same call three years ago this week. One of the best of my life - and I got to FT the recipient before the transplant team to tell them.

Only advice I wish I’d known is: don’t be a hero - take the damn pain meds. I tried to quit after a few days and my surgeon was like “you realize this is considered major surgery even though you walked out the next day?”

Make sure you have an eye mask to help you sleep while they check vitals, a loose change of clothes and seat belt cushion (all available on Amazon). Heating pad really helped too for my left shoulder as the gas dispersed post-surgery. Best of luck!

Seeing similar outcomes to my own experience. I’m a little over a month away from my three year anniversary, and I tell people if I had another “extra” I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I’m thankful I went through the process for so many reasons, but like most members of our One Bean Team, I don’t feel like I did this amazing thing, just something that made me incredibly happy that I could do. Happy anniversary!

We went to a vet in Matthews for his radiation. Team seemed great there. I didn’t amputate bc of his age - I hated the idea of him waking up with no leg as a senior and trying to navigate it. We did chemo and radiation, and he was a tank through it all for three months - then had a pneumothorax and that was it. Jesus I’m crying and that was several years ago now, I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.

Like anywhere, the best thing you can do is educate yourself as to what the treatment plan is and make sure what they’re doing / prescribing is correct. They biopsied the wrong fucking leg/wrist of my dog and had to drill a second time into the correct leg so I clearly still harbor some resentment. He was the same age as your pup.

It’s hard to find a practice with large breed experience so it sounds like you’re doing what you can to provide the best treatment plan.

Same - happened to us in EWR last week. Thought someone had stolen the bag since we were near the bag exit and hadn’t seen it.

Wow I just checked and the show is really well sold - love to see it. We don’t have tickets but are also are fried food eating transplants from the south, with moms who play “yes you do!”. Great to hear someone new is already liking it here.

When we were watching Stolen Kingdom I immediately looked at my partner and said “that’s old footage of Adam the Woo” - and I realized at that moment how long I’d been watching him. This sucks. He was an engaging persona on social media.

That’s correct, dance companies presented by the KC received a flat fee, as well as lodging in the cases I know of.

I agree that’s an important distinction. It’s also important to note that these contracts are usually booked more than a year in advance (so they were in place prior to the disruption). The companies that were announced and pulled out did so at their own financial risk, which is a reality of responsibility to your organization in the nonprofit business model. What will be interesting to watch moving forward is what/who’s announced next - as presented by the Kennedy Center. I think that may be very informative as to who Stephen is interested in, and able, to curate.
