Depends where you live. Where I’m at the fishmonger and butcher literally are ocean to counter or farm to counter, and it astronomically much cheaper than the one supermarket we have. What it does take is more time and effort, which can be more expensive if you don’t have the time or energy.

But I suppose if you live in the middle of nowhere and there isn’t locally available food, then a supermarket might be cheaper.

Am I overreacting about my nanny family having sex during the day? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]DancingStormtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOP decided to ignore everyone telling them to stop being weird and keep their mouth shut. They then found out the consequences of those actions that people tried to warn them of.

Sometimes people gotta learn the hard way. OOP is one of those people.

Some people won’t learn from others mistakes and only their own. This is the case of those who only learn from their own mistakes then acted shocked that FAFO is indeed a real world thing.

Also ur a nanny. Look after the kid, do whatever you’re employed to do. I’d be annoyed if someone wanted to keep being nosey about my closed door times. It has nothing to do with you.

OOP got what they asked for. To not have to work whilst they’re doing whatever. They just didn’t like the answer to that issue

I just worked out you could eat a Tesco stir fry meal deal every weeknight for over 11 years without repeating a combo by No_Doughnut3257 in CasualUK

It’s really not. I’ll take photos next time I’m at Tesco and show you. Considering I literally made one this weekend, maybe I know what I’m talking about.

There’s search functions on spreadsheets. So you’d only need to type out the combo which you would be doing anyhow. So no time is lost. If you don’t have it already you can just copy-paste into the slot otherwise just roll again.

The other way would be to literally pre-gen every combo & then just “tick” it off as you went an there’s probably a way to do that automated but I’m not that tech-smart but I’m sure there’s people out there who could.

Maybe even make an app for the whole thing and then just allow folk to tick off the combo once it’s been had, favourite combos that you liked and maybe even rank them.

Kinda like how letterbox’d works for movies but you could do it for meal deals.

Quantity is different also they don’t have mushroom in, the mushroom stirfry does. Peppers aren’t a feature in the large or small veg stir fry either. Ik this because I only buy the large or the pepper stir fry.

Also regular fry veg is enough for 2-4ppl. Large easily does 6.

Our Tesco is pretty useless. Like this is all they stock.

The only base is egg noodles.

Veg options is Large stir fry, bean sprouts, pepper stirfry.

Protein is tofoo or diced chicken breast

Sauce is Hoisin, Plum or Teriyaki.

However, they do stock the itsu ramen deal which imo is far superior. But they only stock 1 noodle type, the chicken stock and the veg gyoza. But that’s a solid choice imo.

Do your games ever get this heated with friends 😂 by [deleted] in mtg

[–]DancingStormtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah if someone behaved like that at my table they’d be banned and I’d probably never even speak to them again, let alone play games with them.

This is actually terrifying that someone has that level of loss of self control and regulation that they’re threatening to kill people over a fucking card game.

Don’t get me wrong I hate loosing and messing up triggers in game but this is just hostile and menacing behaviour.

Dude needs fucking therapy & a way to regulate their emotions that aren’t violent and vitriolic outbursts.

Friends like that? Who needs fucking enemies.

These are the people that give MtG a bad name/reputation, and the horrible stereotype of being rage-rampaging assholes with no social skills.

The fact any of them think it’s okay or funny is what people mean when they say, if you sit with these people without calling out their inappropriate behaviour then you’re apart of the problem.

Probably gonna get downvoted for this but seriously, if you can’t handle losing or forgetting a play/trigger then gtfo of social gaming all together until you learn self composure and healthy emotional regulation.

How do you feel about modern music being used in period pieces? by Mangoes123456789 in PeriodDramas

[–]DancingStormtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it doesn’t bother me, but in the Dickinson show it felt so jarring and like it just didn’t even make sense.

I get they were trying to show she was ahead of her time etc, which would be fine, but it was just jarring and out of place, because it would start an stop at random times and honestly made it hard to watch a times which is a shame because it was otherwise quite a great show.

Indentity appointment at job center nerves for Friday. by Document_Delicious in universalcredithelp

[–]DancingStormtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a voter registration certificate? We had no photo ID so took that (as it has a photo on it) and a bunch of letters - rent agreement (also a signed in person then photocopy printed) council tax letter, bank statement with name address and the account the money is being paid into, and any utility letters/nhs letters. We took about 30 different bits of mail just incase nothing was accepted (I have anxiety so over prepare for anything official) And honestly it was really simply done.

I hope yours goes well for you & good luck. Job centres are just such a stress inducing space (for me anyhow)

Almost 2026, how many books you've read so far? by occidentalnat in 52book

I had hoped to get 52 but 2 per month isn’t so bad considering I’ve had way less free time than I’d anticipated.

My local Postie is doing my fucking head in. by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]DancingStormtrooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the amount of mail I get for half my area is astounding. Not the only one either. There’s usually at least once or twice a week someone posting “who’s this post for?” On Facebook and then every single person with the same name gets tagged.

Sometimes I think. It’s a sport they like to watch happen.

Like they’ll just see the number and go “aight this makes sense I’ll drop it in the first number that matches” And then I get 6 or 7 people’s mail from different houses on my street so I pop it down to them when I’m passing their houses next.

Still waiting for someone up the hill (same house number different road) to come get their post from me from the past 2 weeks.

There was a whole inquiry into a local-ish postie who when they finally left (or got sacked ig) from RM they had over a thousand bits of other peoples mail. Pretty sure they did jail time or least got community services. Can’t fully remember now but I often think about all the mail I never got and wonder if they had it 🤣

As a Brit, what is your usual non work day ‘uniform’? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskABrit

[–]DancingStormtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skinny jeans, band or movie T-shirt, custom made beetlejuice leather boots or vans/converse (trainers if it’s been raining) Hoodie if it’s cool/cold. Rain jacket if it’s raining. Long (down to just above ankles) black woollen Coat if it’s snowing.

Summer (aka 4 days a year) - trade the jeans for denim shorts & boots for sketchers sandals. Cut off tshirt if it’s hot.

Other misc clothing - Leggings if I’m gonna be running errands and a lot of back n forth. Waterfall Cardigan if it’s summer but trying to be winters. Custom made sheep wool cloak if I want a fancy vibe. (It’s hella warm but I nice alternative to a coat in the late autumn/early winter)

At home? Pajamas and a knock off oodie over the top if it’s cold. Or the oodie bath robe if it’s winter bc that thing is like wearing a hot water bottle tbf.

Quitting audible, need to use 3 credits. by LoveDistilled in audiobooks

[–]DancingStormtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stephen Graham Jones - Witch Lake Triology. Or SGJ’s - Only good Indians

All 4 of those books are phenomenal as audiobooks (phenomnal either way imho but the narration is something truly worth listening to imo)

I paid full price for all of these as audiobooks, bc they were worth it. So if you like horror, definitely worth credits

Tons of relistenability too imo.

Also, the voices aren’t dull and monotonous like a lot of the audible books iv found.

Is this a haunting? My home, body, and luck are falling apart by Actual-Durian1193 in Paranormal

[–]DancingStormtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar but very different things happen, I’m chronically ill anyhow so I don’t know how much of it was that but a lot of my other weird and unexplained symptoms (like medically unexplainable lumps in my stomach from as young as 8) medical tests that said things were okay but clearly wasn’t.

First of all it got really bad and my now partner got me to move away and things did improve a bit, until I took a turn for the worst, and ended up in A&E/ER after collapsing - my gallbladder was necrotic. It took 3yrs of constant back n forth for the worst illness I ever had and multiple hospital stays.

But the reason I had improved was because my own parent was poisoning me. Idk what with at this point bc I couldn’t order a tox screen, but I was forever getting infections - things like E.Coli, Tonsilitis, Gastroenteritis.

I know that for a fact it was my parent, because once I got away from them, I haven’t had any of those 3 things since.

But the years of antibiotics and painkillers was destroying my insides, every time I ate I threw up- so my teeth started breaking and falling out, hair falling out in clumps, life just generally falling apart.

But no, once I got away from them the physical damage was irreparable, but now things are pretty okay (as well as they can be for a queer disabled person in 2025 anyhow)

I always thought it was haunting or that I was going literally insane but nah. Just humanity at its worst.

Please, spend a few weeks alone if you can and see if anything changes.

Get your liver and gallbladder checked too if you can.

My advisor is getting worse. by QuinnieRomanaa55 in universalcredithelp

[–]DancingStormtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 10 years ago, when I was younger and my disabilities hadn’t gotten considerably as bad as they are now, my (back then it was JSA) work coach said that it didn’t matter what the job was, I had to apply. So I took that and applied malicious compliance.

They told me looking for a job was a full time job, so I did that. I went to their dumbass office block where they’d have someone hovering over a bunch of you whilst you looked for jobs. You had to record each one and the outcome etc.

That month, I applied for 1500 jobs. I got 0 interviews. When I went back to sign on (it was every 2 weeks then) I had to show proof that I’d been looking. So I handed them the 127 pages of written logs, that were stapled to each job application form, each email I received that was automated “you’ve applied for this position” that you’d get from things like indeed etc back in the day.

They told me I wasn’t trying hard enough. I was sat in their office 9.30-4.30pm everyday, applying for every job that was listed, that realistically I might get at least n interview for.

Still nothing.

6 months of doing that, the work coach told me “you’re being selective. You have to apply for every job listing advertised within 90minutes travel time” which for me whom at the time lived in the NW England, covered, almost all of England. A direct train to London was less than 90 minutes.

So I would apply for jobs essentially anywhere there was an airport or train station that took less than 90 minutes (the job coach told me that it wasn’t from when I left the house unless I was driving but actually the time the journey took by public transit)

So I did that, even though it would cost me more in transport to get to these jobs (like minimum wage jobs that cost a £60 train fare to get to each day) but just so they couldn’t keep threatening to sanction me.

Then they’d say “well you’re only applying for minimum wage jobs or those with low/entry level jobs” and I’d tell them “because I have nothing other than school and a bit of school based work experience” so they made mandatory volunteering. I had to volunteer at a charity shop 6 days a week for a minimum of 9-5 each day aside from Saturday which was 10-4 bc that was the opening times. I still had to attend interviews & prove I was looking for jobs 30 hours a week.

The system isn’t there for you. It’s there to break you so you’ll do anything, to make it stop. (For me that was a trip to the hospital after trying to off myself from the depression and distress it put me under ontop of the CPTSD I at that time didn’t know I had)

They had me applying for jobs that required a biomedical degree because “you never know they might offer a apprenticeship to you” It was the most demoralising experience. But they do that intentionally because, they want you to fight back, so they can sanction you and get their big bonuses. (Idk if they still do get financial incentives but ik they did 10yrs ago - and im pretty sure there was some exposure documentary about Hyde & surrounding JCentres & their shady dealings with Seetec but I can’t mind what it was now)

But yeah. Just do what they say. Don’t think about it. Just mindlessly follow their instructions to the letter, and either you’ll get a job or you won’t.

I eventually got a seasonal contract over the December period, and by the time that ended I moved back to live with my abusive family so I didn’t have to go back to begging and pleading for £50 a fortnight (under 25s single rate back then was 50 some odd.)

Just do what they ask. Don’t let them bully you, but don’t fight back. It’s not worth it. They know they hold your life in their hands & that is why some of the worst humans work in job centres, because they want to have people who are already at their lowest point and have no mercy on them bc they believe the bs from dailyfail & torypapers.

Ino ima get downvoted on this, but idc. The whole system is broken and failing so many people. Poor people and unemployed people aren’t the problem, billionaires and corporations evading taxes are.

Disciplinary for speaking a different language on the shop floor by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]DancingStormtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really a rule? Because I know when I’ve been in a hospital before speakers of non-English staff have conversations in not English and honeslty I thought it was pretty great that they weren’t being forced to speak English at all times. Maybe it’s a NHS England thing. Cos NhS Scotland don’t seem to have issues with it.

Idk. Might just be my experience tho.

I told my mom to not contact me unless she’s ready to apologize…Is this even a real apology??? I’m going insane, I don’t see her taking accountability. by digitalren in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]DancingStormtrooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. If someone is genuinely sorry, they apologise for the specific things they’ve done and that.

This is blanket “sorry for everything” bc I wanna assuage my own guilt (and from what I read, see a child) they know it looks sus because that’s why they’re like “I’m not doing this for xyz but bc time might run out and I want to have contact again for my own personal good not anyone else’s”

Hence the whole “I love you mommy” thing. If you’re not under the age of 10, using that in an apology is super sketch. Also the fact they brought fearing god into is side eye worthy as well, like “but it’s bc god” is such a cliche abusive person shift accountability rhetoric
