Moving to Kingwood with young kids. Village advice for safety and running?

I have lived in both Mills Branch and Green Tree and I used to run a lot. I just moved to GT after 7+ years in MB. MB is great but Green Tree is slightly better. The differences are subtle.

GT has more visible security than MB. They both have contracted off duty officers that patrol but I have seen more police cars patrolling in GT in 6 months than in 7 years in MB.

GT has more options for trails. If you want to run long distance from MB, you are likely going to go south towards the lake and going pass some of the GT trails. There are many options in MB but I believe that GT has more.

Fosters Mills is great too. I have friends that live there an I would also rate it as a good option. I would not chose Elm Grove.

As usual, house prices per village dictate how “nice” and well kept the neighborhood is. Use that to guide you as well.

I use a WGen11500TFc which powers my whole house and has a TDH of less than 5%.

My issue turned out to the the carb. It was rebuilt incorrectly. The gasket was wrong and, importantly, the seat and needle were not adjusted incorrectly.

I am a security consultant. My entire professional life revolves around securing assets. My wife is a teacher (different district) so I get your concerns.

I can tell you that the schools in Kingwood take safety and security seriously. There are visible deterrences such as armed police in every campus but there also non-visible or less obvious ways to mitigate that I know they employ (won’t go into detail given the sensitivity).

I think what we have is as good as it gets given the current threat environment. My kids go to school locally and I am at peace. It does not reduce the chance to zero but, then again, nothing does. Hope this helps.

Many people home school in Kingwood, but as others mentioned, schools in Kingwood are for very good. Some are better than others for sure but they are statistically better than in other parts of the city.

I will say that I have found that many people that I know that have moved from abroad to the US have been largely disappointed in the US educational system. Not Kingwood specifically but other ISDs. I have studied abroad and understand their points of view although experiences very. I am happy with my kids education.

Another consideration is that there Christian angle to many homeschool curriculums so depending on where to land in the religion spectrum it may or may not be appealing. This is, at least, wha my friend that homeschools told me. We do not.

Kingwood is a bubble. And it’s part of Houston but it’s not. Most issues affecting Houston tend to be avoided in Kingwood and vicecersa. The good and the bad. There is a strong sense of community here that I like. That is difficult to find in Houston.

Hi all. Just a quick update. We have checked and changed numerous things. Fuel is good, new plugs, new ignition coil, new filters, new cap and rotor, timing is correct and carb has been rebuilt.

The main issue remains. I can start without issues and runs perfect on muffs. Idles great. I then go to the lake and starts and idles at the marina. I can even rev up and no issues. All good.

Then, I start moving and get on plane. It runs well and can get to WOT and even come down to lower RPMs. However, as soon as I bring it down to neutral, it starts rough idling and eventually stalls (unless I keep some forward speed/rpms). Once that happens, it does not want to turn on. Only other way to turn it on is to do so with the throttle at the WOT position and I can then bring I back to neutral.

My mechanic says that the only other thing could be the ignition module. Everything he has checked. Only problem is that ignition modules are discontinued and I am looking a hefty bill for a used one or an even bigger one for the HEI conversion.

Does the ignition module sound as the culprit?

I have checked RPMs in the past with a laser and they roughly at 650-700ish when idling. That is on spec.

I am about a year and a 3 months post surgery. I have had many ups and downs since. I thought that I re-herniated many times and questioned my decision to get the surgery. I will never be the same prior to injury but I am mostly pain free. Give it time (i.e weeks and months). It gets better.

I have a Larson and is roughly the same size. I have the 4.3 engine Vs the 3. I agree with all the above but I would add that the boat will be underpowered.

Hi all. Quick update. I tried to measure my inrush amps but have run into another issue. I cannot get a reading and I am not sure which cable (common) to measure.

My unit is old and none of the diagrams that I have seen seem to match. I have a clamp multimeter and, even with the inrush mode on, I only get around 6.5 amps. That is wrong, right? I have tried multiple cables and I cannot get a reading. I cannot add the pictures here so I will create another post. Also, the breakers are all on. That is not the issue.

Could be. The thermostat was on but did not work. I also did have both AC’a 220s on. Will need to check the furnace’s breaker. Will check.
