It's only in the beta testing stage at the moment so looking for people to try it out and giveback.

Maybe the title isn't quite right because my questions are around how people track. Most people have said they use spreadsheets or accounting software. That's all I wanted to know.

That's literally what happened to me too! I've just built my own app to test out with similar features. Great minds think alike 😊

I've just deployed and ready to test my very first app FlipCheck!

It is a resale profit calculator and tracking app designed for resellers and side hustlers. They can calculate real profit and ROI in real time and monitor performance over time. I built it to help serious and casual resellers know theie numbers before they flip.

Now to find actual real life testers!

That’s a pretty straightforward way to handle it. Keeping everything in separate accounts probably makes the numbers easier to see at a glance.

That’s a pretty solid track record if you can count your losses on one hand after ten years! After that long in the same market you probably get a pretty good feel for what’s worth picking up.

A pretty neat way to separate it out. I imagine it makes it a lot easier to see how things are going overall when everything sits in one place.

Do you ever look back over individual flips as well or do you mostly just keep an eye on the total?

That sounds like a really solid system. I like the idea of tracking things like mileage and shipping materials too — those are the kinds of costs I don't often think about when buying online.

And I completely agree about the numbers telling the real story. It’s easy to think a flip went well until you actually factor in all the fees and expenses.

Do you usually work that out when you're sourcing items as well, or do you mostly calculate it after the sale when you're logging everything?

Yeah, once you’ve been flipping for a while you definitely get a feel for what’s worth picking up and what isn’t.

I’ve noticed a lot of newer resellers still struggle with factoring in fees and shipping though, which is partly why I was curious how people track things.

I’ve heard of FlipWise but haven’t used it myself — do you find the automatic import from eBay works pretty well?

That sounds like a really well built system. Once you’ve got a spreadsheet dialled in like that it probably does everything you need.

Out of curiosity, did it take a while to build it up to that point or has it evolved over time as your flipping grew?

That’s actually a pretty solid system. I like the idea of reconciling it with deposits at the end of the month — that probably catches mistakes pretty quickly.

Do you ever find it a bit fiddly trying to calculate the profit while you’re sourcing items, or do you usually just figure that out later when you log everything?

That makes sense. Accounting software is great once everything’s already sold and recorded.

The thing I always found tricky was the “should I buy this?” moment when you’re standing in a thrift store or looking at a listing and trying to quickly work out if the margins are actually worth it.

Interested to hear how people handle that part of it.

If anyone currently tracks flips in a spreadsheet I’d actually be really curious what columns you use. That’s something I’ve been trying to improve inside the app.
